  1. I don't want to derail an extremely interesting thread, but could you elaborate a bit more on how you run E85? For octane rating or purely for controlling EGTs?
  2. A Megasquirt could actually end up being cheaper than trying to source the original harness and ECU, if you are handy with wiring and tools. And for the power level you want, the stock engine management is really not up to the task. You'll need an intercooler, a better fuel pump and bigger injectors. Maybe a bigger turbo as well, the factory piece is going to have trouble flowing the air at that power level. So you are better off with a stand-alone fuel/spark control to start with.
  3. Nice pump data. I've got one of those Porsche pumps, nice to know I can upgrade to 440cc injectors without running into fueling issues.
  4. You name it. 4x4s, diesels, my S30, all of it.
  5. +2! SHANE ran 11 second 1/4s with a factory TB. For 250-275 hp, all you need is intercooler and boost controller. And a factory engine/fuel system/turbo in good shape. Stand-alone ECU makes good sense, and would make the above setup more dependable, especially with some larger injectors.
  6. Driveshaft flange may be different turbo vs. NA ZX. I know they are different between R200s from an S30 and turbo S130.
  7. It's a shame a diesel had to be removed from the road, but nice swap anyway. I'm a diesel fan, as you can tell by my sig...
  8. Oooh. That's got to be worth a couple grand. Anyone need my spare, I'll part with it for that...
  9. No point. Optimize the dwell and keep the heat out of your driver and your insulation.
  10. I've got one in my car, haven't had any problems except my factory ECU cuts the fuel right when things get interesting...
  11. Wow, quick thinking and acting! Glad you are ok, and it sounds like you didn't do much damage to the car either.
  12. I don't know exactly how heavy, but I've dropped a T5 by hand (I weight 170lb) and the 4 speed is definitely lighter. If you had an old Mercedes, a jack is required - cast iron is heavy.
  13. Yes, and it's been almost two years since I've fired up the Z. I'd like to get it going this spring and take a spin around High Plains. I'm contemplating building a MegaSquirt so I can get the revs out of this cam....
  14. Your turbo is similar to mine, I think I have a higher trim on my compressor, it's the V1/V2. At least at altitude in Colorado it kicks butt.
  15. I used a piece of coated cable to replace the limiting strap.
  16. Lots of Ferraris have V8s with a flat crank. Totally different sound than a domestic V8 (different firing order).
  17. Nice runs guys! Way to represent the lowly L28. I'm not dragging or building faster anymore -- I'm happy with what I've got, but I sure enjoy hearing how well you all are doing.
  18. Bizarre. I would think calipers are not to be trusted after a dunk in the ocean, but that's just me.
  19. What happens if you use ethanol or E85 on standard injectors? Just for fun I'm thinking about throwing on some 480cc injectors and running E85. From what I've read so far (not much), the drying effects of alcohol on rubber can be addressed with a top end lube. If the fuel is kept dry, steel lines shouldn't be a problem. Any other issues?
