  1. I love the wheels, but why put such narrow tires on them? Wouldn't 275s fit better?
  2. What is the part number, if you don't mind? Since I installed a MSA stage 2 cam in my L28ET, it will not stay cool. I'm hoping I can cool it down better with an aluminum unit....
  3. Good luck with that. They sound like a typical dealership.
  4. No, you must use the 280ZX distributor and oil pump shaft. It contains the optical sensor that runs the CAS in the ECU. An alternative can be the '81 280ZXT distributor and the '81 280ZXT CAS, but I don't remember if you need a different pump shaft for that.
  5. 130 compression sounds decent, as long as they are all close to the same. $250 isn't that bad of a price either. You will want a better turbo than the stock anyway, so I say go for it.
  6. What do you bet most of these end up on eBay? Hard to inspect for flood damage before the bill is paid...
  7. That is sick! With the turbos hanging so low, you'd have a terrible time on the street. I guess it's a good thing that it's a drag-only car (in more ways than one ).
  8. That buyer is going to be pretty unhappy. I wouldn't consider it merely because of the spelling and punctuation errors, let alone the deceit. Oooh, a T-5! Buy this "italian hand-made" car for $50,000 and it'll sell for $4,000,000 next year...
  9. Nothing a good set of pads and bleeding wont cure. 90mph is nothing for stock brakes.
  10. All right, spill it!! j/k Garrett, that's not bad. I forgot to tighten my turbo outlet charge pipe, and wondered why my vacuum was so low, and why the car hissed like crazy on boost. Oops...
  11. Turbo 280ZXs only came with 3.54 R200s. Ask him how he knows it's a 4.56...
  12. I can't believe it would spin long if it's making a noise like that. Well, maybe it'd spin for 500mS...
  13. Paint, anodization, whatever, all secondary effects. If the IC doesn't flow the air, it doesn't matter what it's coated with, it won't dump the heat.
  14. One point to be made is, since the Z/ZX did not come with an intercooler, it's going to be worth getting a good one if you go the trouble of installing one. If you have the ability to fabricate/install an intercooler, you are likely not going to be running stock boost levels.
  15. I have a T5 tranny, and was using a 3.90 with it. With the T5 first gear, I HAD to short shift it, which was doubly hard - no boost, and hit the rev limit if I wasn't careful. I did this over and over at the strip -- pi$$ed me off. I finally went back to the 3.54, and found a useful 1st gear again. Still not full boost in first, but some, maybe 5 psi. Second gear was real nice though, the look on the WS6 driver's face when I pulled him from a stoplight was PRICELESS!
  16. It's not too much smaller than the IC I'm running as well, but it's wrong for the Z. It's only 2-3/8" thick and 6" tall, so it's actually quite restrictive for large flows. On a Honda it's perfect, because it's very efficient at low flows because of it's length. Notice the seller claims only 1/2 psi drop, but does not state at what airflow this drop is. My IC is the same style, bar and plate (Spearco) and the same configuration (flow across, inlet and outlet on opposide sides), but it is 3-1/2" thick and 8" tall, for 100% more flow area.
  17. You cannot be serious. Pressure loss is a very big deal; if you try to overcome the loss by increasing your boost, you'll put your turbo out of it's efficiency range very quickly, turning it into a hair dryer instead. The MK3 IC is not "damn good", it's a tiny little bottleneck, I'd sooner use a Probe IC.
  18. 0.015" is a lot. Enough to notice. Are your axle flanges flat? Does the runout peak at one spot, and the lowest point 180 degrees around? That would be an indication your stubs or flanges aren't flat, or aren't in the bearings right. Otherwise it's probably your rotors. I bought a set of Toyota rotors (OEM, off brand) that were out more than that. I had to have them turned (later realizing I should have returned them instead).
  19. Stainless looks pretty, but I'm cheap and don't care for the look.
