  1. Ok, it took a while, but I finally dropped the tranny today, and the problem is obvious. The clutch fork is broken. It's normal for a fork to be made of stamped steel, they even have a reinforcing plate welded inside. What annoys me is the support plate is welded in 3 spots, but neither the pivot or the arm is located on the supporting plate. Basically the arm cracked around the plate. What a POS. Heres a link to pictures: http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/sleeper78z/album?.dir=/4c87 Unless someone knows of a good aftermarket piece that won't break like this, I'm stuck with ordering a new factory piece. Maybe it'll last another 100k?
  2. I'm using the oval one, center inlet, offset outlet.
  3. I'm using Scottie's 2-1/2" down pipe. I used a Flowmaster cone to move it out to 3", it is a gradual opening over 8" of pipe. No complaints, it seems a perfect match to the stock T3 turbine.
  4. Yep. My AEM FPR needed them too, and the AN fitting I bought came with them.
  5. 5000 rpm in 4th is only about 100mph with a 3.54, and 106 with a 3.36. I took my Z to 6200rpm in 4th gear uphill (7% grade) at 10,000 feet elevation, about 125mph. The turbo Honda LOST!
  6. You've made some nice numbers. As a few have already stated, that T3 won't last at that output, you are overspinning it. A hybrid that moves more air at less speed is not too expensive for what you get: My V1/V2 T3/TO4 was $700 new, and the modifcations to the intake and charge pipes were minimal. That would enable you to make perhaps 50 more HP at the same boost, or your same numbers reliably at 14-15 psi.
  7. Oh duh. You did say "0 offset", I'm blind. Nevermind....
  8. Are those wheels zero offset? They sure fit nicely. My 15x7 wheels with 225/50/15 stick out a little bit, maybe 1/2" to 1", from the fender. I thought they were zero offset, but now I'm thinking not.
  9. I was considering "appropriate" gearing as what makes the car accelerate faster.
  10. Depends on which engine you are using. N/A might benefit from a 3.90 or 4.11, but a turbo I6 benefits from lower ratios like 3.54 or 3.36.
  11. I love it! What a classy car!
  12. Yes, I put more down, but my MAF is modified. I transplanted the wire element into a 3-1/2" intake pipe, this, combined with the 370cc injectors tricks the ECU and runs the engine at a lower load point.
  13. A log plot rises very quickly, then tapers off. A centrifugal supercharger's boost curve resembles more of an exponential plot though, starts off very low, and peaks at redline.
  14. I'm sure you can do better Aux, comparing zcar to this site is just cruel.
  15. Lance has my vote for greatest athelete ever.
  16. Z31 will handle more airflow than the ZXT ECU, with less restriction. As far as I can tell, the ignition advance is similar enough. I have no idea how it will behave with the RRFPR, I've never used one. I pulled a used O2 sensor off a Z31, but you can use the 1 wire version as long as you either use an n/a Z31 ECU or a '84 -'86 turbo Z31 ECU. Later turbo ECUs used a different O2 sensor, and will NOT read a 1 wire properly. The speed sensors were never used except in the cruise control, and unless the sensor is critical it will not go into a limp mode. The knock sensor is one that can be a problem. Even if you have a Z31 knock sensor, I think the solid cam followers are too noisy for it to work properly, and the ECU will give a code. If you just connect one of the wires, the knock sensor will not operate, but it will not throw a code either. I made sure to connect all the extra wiring to the ignition coil, as it threw a code for not being able to read the ignition pulse.
  17. I've removed the pickup tube with the pan low enough, then removed the pan. Assembly is the reverse.
  18. Doesn't matter to me, I participate in the technical knowledge here. The same thing precipitated at MercedesShop forums as well, where I did take part in the politics. With some people not able to remain civil, the ban was imposed and remains. Doesn't matter, as once again, it's the technical material that keeps me. I've found some good forums for the political discussion, I don't need any more.
