  1. Probably depends on how you intend to use the vehicle. Drag racing will present different requirements versus street or track. You will create a power draw on the crank to keep it cool, and you have the weight of the compressor to haul around. I don't know enough of the capability of the AC compressor or the cooling required to know if it is capable of cooling your air charge. You also need to fabricate a special "intercooler" to house the evaporator and not get too much pressure drop.
  2. Someone else needs to tell the folks on the tdiclub they don't need 3" exhaust to make 200hp. I tried to tell them I make 350 easy on my 3", but they are hung up on size. 1.9 liter diesels....no wonder...
  3. Hilarious. I didn't know you could load a weapon in that manner.
  4. I'm actually very much DIY and am looking into building a Megasquirt and tuning with a wideband; now that all this technology is available and cheap. Too much wrong and non-adjustable with the Z31 ECU.
  5. Maybe, maybe not. Depending on the air temperature, I can get knock with 16 psi and 91 pump gas (highest pump octane in Colorado). I am running about the same AFRs, but have no tuning flexibility with a factory Z31 ECU.
  6. Definitely agree. Especially on subsequent runs with higher head temperatures.
  7. You may have to relocate the computer to the right side with the Z31 harness. I spliced the Z31 connectors to my L28ET harness to run the Z31 ECU.
  8. Adds a lot of bling, that's for sure. Throttles aren't the typical restriction in an intake, as they are easy to enlarge. The restriction that remains is usually intake ports and valves.
  9. Like I mentioned earlier, the speedo is not accurate at that speed. My indicated 135 was approximately 125; I calculated that from redline in 4th gear using my diff ratio and tire size. The poor little Honda turbo never knew what hit him, but he sure seemed fast on the fly-by I got after I slowed to the 65mph limit.
  10. For $5k you can easily get that power out of an L28 turbo and still be reliable and keep good fuel mileage.
  11. ^^^ Looks like it will work as well as a factory T3 (not great.) The V-trim compressor and stock T3 turbine will do 12 psi much better. Pyro nailed this one, and your compressor map verified it.
  12. I'd not considered that. I am running a stock T3 internal wastegate actuator, 7-8 psi. Thanks.
  13. My Greddy controller seems to max out at 16psi - I think it's got a 2 bar sensor. I wonder if this unit can control a higher boost level....
  14. Check my sig too! SHANE ran 12s and high 11s with a junkyard L28ET for years, never broke it. He had the JWT ECU, pump, IC and 450cc injectors. Oh yes, 400 reliable horsepower on stock engine. Not to rub any salt into the wounds, but seriously, forged won't buy you much margin.
  15. I have to say, that is a damn fine torque curve. It must be a blast to drive.
  16. Does someone have a link to any technical information on the various "stages" for the T3 wheels? It seems to a be a term used by Turbonetics, and the implication is degrees of flow, but with a higher RPM L28 (camshaft) I'm wondering if any of the T3s is still suitable and doesn't choke. BTW, the "goldilocks" link is great! And I don't think the 50 trim compressor will clear the intake manifold without a spacer....
  17. Wow, 130mph. That must be speedo-indicated. I hit 135 indicated, (redline in 4th, 125mph actual) at 9500' elevation (years ago, old man!) with no front end lightness. Thanks to the air dam I have.
  18. First one doesn't seem much different than the stock unit, and the work to plumb the exhaust would not be worth it. The second one looks like a bit of an upgrade from stock, and the same work to plumb. If you are looking for a mild factory upgrade, a regular T3/TO4B with a V trim is good, or T3/TO4E with minor tweeks to the intake plumbing. Just get a unit that bolts to a standard downpipe. For much more than 350hp, get a full TO4 or a GT series turbo and external wastegate. I would question the quality of the eBay turbos. Check feedback and try to get more information. Maybe lurk on the Honda technical sites and see if anyone complains or has issues -- I'm sure that's the target market for these.
  19. O....M....G Looks like a great job, but ?????? Wow.
  20. Makes sense for higher octane. You run it straight or mix it? It must affect your A/F mixtures quite a bit.
  21. Stay safe and sane. Come home soon.
