  1. YES....WE ARE MEN!!! Pretty funny. During my viewing of the boob-tube this weekend, (Discovery Channel) they were showing sporting event mishaps. One in particular involved an early Z in a rally. A photographer, positioned on the outside of a righthander, was video tapping this Z coming through a lefthander that preceeded the righthander....anyway the Z overcooked the lefthander and wound up is a nice big slide coming out of the corner. Well, the Z just kept sliding right into photographer!!! Holy crap! Fortunitely the photographer only got bumps and bruises.....the Z looked to be OK. You gotta wounder about some of those photographers!!?
  2. Can you say....thermodynamic lose!!! What a great engine dyno pic!
  3. I would recommend you post a number of good pics, as a starter, if you want to get any answers at all.
  4. I suppose it's a similar question of wether you drink your beer from the bottle or pour it into a mug before hand???? After it's all said and done....it tastes the same! Anybody enjoy edible panties..........? Come on, fess up! I'll bet Tim does.
  5. That was a great story Terry! I quess most people, like the original examiner, aren't quit sure what to do when they find themselves outside of the box!!!
  6. Here in SoCal we have a real problem.....can't find those snow covered parking lots very often! However, there seem to be an abundance of police officers to catch you if and when you do find one.
  7. Sounds like you got the lucky dog position...congrats!!!
  8. First of all I want to apollogize to anyone I may have offended! Yesterday after reading the post about one of our members going to jail for a firearms infraction got me so worked up....well we can see the results of that in my post. Sorry guys....I lost it! Regarding the seats....for tall guys I would suggest using a seat with a seat cushion suspension similar to the original Z seats so you don't wind up with your head against the headliner. I believe the width of a seat is a concern in a Z as space is limited. I've read many posts that refer to the Mazda RX7 seats as being very comfortable as well, they fit in the Z. And I think they are leather. iistevo84ii....sorry to dump on you like that!
  9. Thanks for the correction! CRS is acting up again.
  10. Well done Guy!!! Pretty funny, but sadly true.
  11. For all who are interested.....and this is regarding the little spacers some us when installing a ring gear w/10mm bolts onto a carrier intended for 12mm bolts. OK, I know some think it really important, however if these spacers are ever so slightly too long, your ring gear will not run true. During my research on LSD (clutch type) I finally went with a unit called a POWERBRUTE manufactured by Precision Gear on the east coast. I specifically ask their set-up guy about using these spacers....he said you can use them, but in all the years and all the R200 differentials they have assembled, set-up and without a failure, he says they have never used any spacers and are not required. He told me.... think about it for a moment, the ring gear is piloted (centered) on the carrier and the torque on the bolts alone keep the ring gear from moving, so why would one want to add spacers that really do nothing? I told him that's what I thought also but just wanted to hear it from a reputable source. So, take it for what its worth....just my small contribution to the post.
  12. FYI....the seats on Ebay ONLY have leather inserts (as shown in the diagram). Also you say you don't want to spend the big $$$ for name brand seats. If you want a full leather seat they are going to cost you way more than $700.00 a pair, from just about any seat manufacture! Good luck with Ebay buddy!!!
  13. I am always amazed how many people keep asking questions about seats and what is the prefered seat to use!!!? IMO, seats are a personal item, like shoes, at the least. Regarding size....we all have different sized butts...enough on that one! What seat fits in my Z? Gawd, I don't know...but if you have a tape measure and the information a manufacture typically posts about their seats, you should likely be able to figure it out (like most of us have had to do). Maybe I'm all fired up form reading about one of our members be jailed for firearms infractions, but come on.....through out my life I've had to rely on only my own insticts, experiences, mistakes, and what ever comes by in the learning curve of life. Seems like alot of people how days want everything for free. Are we getting so lazy that we can even help ourselves? Sorry all, for the rant....guess I'm just venting! P.S. New seats prices generally start around $200.00 each and go up from there
  14. Assuming your talking about manual trannies, I believe the 79 tranny was the odd ball tranny that was only used for that year. After that nissan went to the B type tranny (close ratio). Will they handle 350rwhp? Well, that all depends on how it is used or abused......however, I've read about many people who have done so successfully. For further and probably more accurite details...try using the search function!
  15. I have to agree with Tim! $10K is pretty optimistic...unless there is ZERO rust, a near perfect paint job (inside and out), all mechanical systems are in great working order as well as the Z being an overall eye pleasing car. Also, you mentioned the car cost you $6K and you have since put another $2K into it. Trying to make a $2K profit on your car is admiralible, but not realistic. If you can get $7K for your car, you would be doing well IMO! I think I'd be tickled pink if I could get $10K for my Z...and I have nearly twice that invested (with receipts). The general sales history on old Z cars do not lend themselfs to making a profit, even when alot of $ and TLC have been expended. Generally, it is the buyer who makes out. I do not mean to be rude, but if you think you are going to get out of it what you've put into it.....your dreaming. Unless of course, as Tim put it....if you find the right sucker!
  16. ezzzzzzz, you will want lines for a 280ZX. Basically, it's just a question of what fittings are on the end of the lines and the hose length you need.
  17. FEnatic......you took the words right out of my mouth. IMO, these pre-oiler systems are intended for highly modified, tight toleranced race engines. I believe its all about reliability...sparring the rotating parts from those first few seconds of no to low oil pressure. I believe these systems are definitely a plus but you have to ask yourself....do I really need one of these systems, probably not.....or, do I really want one of these systems, probably yes! For sure it will not hurt.
  18. Jolane, You may consider calling the seat manufacture and ask them who their sales reps are in your area and if any of them have a show room with sample seats to try out.
  19. The springs will physically fit however, the rear springs are typically a higher rating and are slightly longer than the front springs. Avoid cutting springs....it's just a poor practice...as in shade tree type mechanics.
  20. You must be new to Z's!!! They are fine and are as installed from the factory. They can be used on either side by flipping one over. This was done to keep manufacturing costs down. Don't feel alone, you're not the first to question the rear control arms.

Ballistic, You are likely not getting a responce......because: With just the slightest amount of effort, you can do a search in the archives here or on the open net. We don't mean to be rude by not responding, but we see many questions asked by newer members that only require a little thought and effort to research out an answer. It's actually worth the effort to learn to use this function, as you will discover many, many things about the Z car and a variety of possible modifications that can and have been done.
  22. One suggestion you may want to consider....if you can find a shop/store, that actually has seats on display and allow you to put your butt in them to see for sure that they are actually still comfortable after sitting in them for over 15 minutes! Don't we try on a pair of shoes before we buy and wear them?
