Hey phil looks good, But i think the rear flares may be a tad low. The way i was shown to install the flares on the rear was to try and pickup where the inner fender well would intersect the rear 1/4 at is highest point then go 1/4 inch above that. That should line the rear fenders up with the fronts so they follow the body line. I dont have a perfect picture to show you what i mean but look at mine. The purpose for the flares is to be able to run wider tires and also lower the car. you cant do this without cutting the 1/4. Most do this is by cutting the 1/4 panel and match it up with the inner fender so there there is nothing to rub on with suspension at full travel. At any rate here is a couple pics of mine which where installed by a body shop in japan. See how the rear flares are actually above the door handle. In this picture the rears look to be below the door handle.

Hey guys I have been down that road.... not to be a hard ass or nothing but I'm looking for info on Pros and Cons of straight methanol as a primary fuel not an additional fuel. More specifically engine maintenance, oil change intervals, Basically im trying to figure out if running meth with be cost effective for me. Meth is $2.XX a gallon vs 106 which is 0ver 9 bux a gallon. Methanol fuel system ( mech) is less expensive to build with less parts, Stuff like that. anyways there you go Stony

On my current budget I seriously don’t think that low 8s will be possible. I just want to get into the 8s. An 8.99 will make me happy. Actually a freakin running car will make me extremely happy. Baby steps:-x At any rate breaking into the 8s and breaking into the 7s are 2 different monsters. All the math I have done on the Meth one bank of 1600cc injectors pumping meth should easily handle 800 hp. According to all the formulas that should net me mid 8s BUT it’s just a calc... And OBTW did I say I would be extremely happy to just have a car that ran at this point.

Ok I'm in the final stages of putting my engine compartment back together and I'm very seriously considering removing the core support in favor of being able to make all my own custom mounts for all the crap that will be installed in that area. Anyone have any pics of the core support removed with custom support installed?

OK im gonna pour some gas on this one, It's been a while..... now that i have my struts sectioned to the length i need them. Anyone know anywhere out there that can make an insert to certain specs (custom). For example i need a certain valving for a certain vehicle weight and the shock needs to be a certain size with a specific stroke. I sectioned my struts with VW inserts and it's ride height is perfect. now i just need a set of inserts that are adjustable and specifically made for drag racing.

HMMMMM seems that i was loooking at the diagrams right but looking at the harness sections backwards and ended up removing wires that needs to stay:cry2: ... so painless here i come. Probably should have gone that route from the beginning anyways -

Sectioned struts with VW inserts. (PICS)
stony replied to stony's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Well I joined a VW forum trying to find out more info on what year and make these struts came from.... Seems all rabbit/scirroco MK1 are all the same suspension wise so basically I got that these struts came from any year scirrocco BTW if some of you didn’t catch it.... the spindles I sectioned into my struts are z31. These spindles accommodate z32 calipers by just bolting them on. You will need to be able to adjust caster as the caster is different on the z31 vs. the s30 chassis. I was able to tune it out to stock specs with AZC front control arms. Somewhere in this forum there is a writeup on how i did it 4+ years ago. . -
sounds awesome great job.

I will get some pics of the car hopefully in the next few days and post them up. Its sitting pretty low now and i still have 4 inches or so of travel. I will have to install a bump stop. Overall really have with its stance and should perform really well at the track once i get the revalved inserts i need. -
This has been talked about over and over. If it seems like too much for you then don’t do it. As far as a good deal??? If you’re going to drop him a car and get it back with the motor installed and running with intercooler and fuel system completed?? I'd say that's a decent deal. Are you supplying the motor? Or is that included. If the motor is included in the deal then you should jump on it. If not It's not as good of a deal. Again if you think 7K is too much then you need to stay away from the rb26 and go with a v-8 or something that is not as expensive and labor intensive to install. Oh yea the search button works great. This has been talked about allot in the rb forum.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm, this has been talked about atleast 10 times. here hold on...... Nevermind i guess not,,,, cant think of any good key words to search.......Cant remember, does the rb20 tranny have the electronic or mechanical speed sensor? if its electronic the autometer web sight has a install guide you can download. its pretty striaght forward. I had a rb25 tranny that i was going to hook the elctronic speedo also but never got around to it.

I dont know what car they came out of but the part number is listed above. im running a solid rear axles so no on the rear. The struts have been section twice so not sure how much total out of a stock Z strut but its close to 3 inches. -
Anyone have any good links to info on the net. Again not addition water or alcohol injection but, Methanol as a primary fuel.
-
Ok here’s the deal. My chassis builder really wants to see me in the low 8s especially since his name will be in the window. He suggested I go methanol, He runs it on a Blown big block pro mod. My question goes out to anyone that has extensive experience with it. How hard is it to tune? I understand the concept of doubling the fuel no issues with that, BUT the way I understand it burns ALOT cooler and is almost impossible to detonate. Here are my questions. With a turbo inline 6 (RB26) that is already very laggy wont a cooler exhaust ( or is it actually cooler) create even more lag. We talked about N20 but the classes I want to race in only allow 1 power adder. Will I actually gain power with the same boost settings after tuned? I have a ton of questions but I think once everyone starts chiming in most will get answered. I did search for it but all I could find was bits and pieces on water/alcohol as an additional injector. I'm talking straight up methanol injection out of the tank to the engine thru 1600CC injectors

OBTW here are the struts I got for my MOCC up. They were Cofap OEM Scirocco strut insert Part number 30017 Fully extended 20 inches Body length 12.5 The konis that I had installed were 21.5 fully extended and the body was 15 inches. -
Well these are about as short i think you can go. I'm sure there are others out there but this should get my ride hieght were i need it and also have some travel in the suspension. The stock struts you see are fully charged. the coilovers are just hand tight so they will compress somewhat. Any comments/opinion/suggestions before i get the strut housings welded up???
-
Dont know if these are what you want but check it out. I found it doing a google search. I have an extremly bad headache rigth now and dont feel like looking around. I posted this one becasue i had never seen it before and it looks like it covers all rb series motors. Stony http://jdm-imports.com/vehicles/R32_all_engine_manual.pdf

What is your Top Speed. On or Off Track.
stony replied to v80z's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
in 1990 i had a miata that i did 135 on the open road with the headlights down. with the headlight ups could only achieve 128!!!!! did 127 in the Z in the 1/4 that was in the top end of third. i did take it all the way out to readline ONCE in 5th. which according to tranny calulators ( no speedo installed) was in excess of 150mph. That was hairy. I actually lost a front turn signal on that run. came flying out of the FRP air dam and exploded :> -
I think the negotiations went as they should have the falcon was capable of much more then it showed and i would have been thinking the same thing. he is settting a trap. I'm pretty sure that neither of the guys really knew what the others car was capable of. and the falcon guys just didnt have it running very good for the show. Good job jon.

If you keep the motor below 450-500 hp and rpm below 8000rpm the crank collar is not required dont worry about it!!!!
-
Did you do anything to the motor or is it a stock motor. I had several 7s before the Z and they are my second favaorite car. check this out. kind of a long post but there are several videos and lots of pics of a drag FC buildup. http://www.zeroyon.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=10432
