  1. depending on the stuff, 1/4 inch would do.
  2. Other way around, the dish normally kills the quench abilities of the head. Done right there is no reason a L engine won't live at those levels without meth/water injection. Several members here do it. It's best not to makes these comparisons. The engine technology isn't even close, might as well be talking about the space shuttle.
  3. I can't quickly find 1quickZ's little tire car that won on pinks. I don't think the big tire car is still a Z http://www.yearone.com/news.asp?nsl=1&nslSEC=10&nslURL=http://www.yearone.com/Articles/news_dp.asp?AID=126
  4. I weight close to 200 pounds, and I worry about ME rattiling around inside the car. Not to mention a feather weight item like those subs.
  5. Do those words even belong in the same paragraph?
  6. Keep in mind that that is Crank HP. and requires excellent head work. But done right I've heard is streetable. Brainn510 had the most vocal reviews that I remember.
  7. Either use a large turbo and high boost, or use then Maxima head for higher compression. ( i forget what that gets you with dished pistons)
  8. I've seen something like these used in an infomercial. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=44810
  9. Sorry, I knew this was headed for bad as soon as I read E4OD.
  10. Have you checked the TPS and tried unplugged the ecu connectors? The AFM would really have to be plugged up not to let the engine run. You could open it up and see if it swings freely.
  11. A couple of things to thinks about. The piston engine is pretty inefficient, changing linear motion to rotational and all that jazz. If you're going to redesign it for new fuels, you might as well make a different style of motor. Lots of chemical reactions happen alot faster under pressure. Gunpowder would be a good one. Watching a pound of black powder burn when poured on the sidewalk is exciting. Roll it up into a heavy cardboard tube and I'm out of there.
  12. Don't get caught up in how much the flywheel weights. As it's a rotating mass, where the mass is makes a bigger difference then how much there is. I thought I could find a better post, but this will get you started. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=116079
  13. I ssecond the Factory Manual. Tune up and learn the systems. Small tweaks and tunes to get it running the best with what it already has is by far the best thing you can do. There are several members here make much higher power on 100% stock engines than any bolt on mentioned. Braap, and TonyD come to mind.
  14. it's an '82. Maybe it has relays.... I don't recall now for sure, It's been awhile. I assume the carbon build up on the switch could only be from high amperage loads. I don't have my car or manuals near to check out.
  15. Jeffer, before you start going on about your driving skills, this statement says alot about them. You don't step on the gas in a rear drive car when the back end steps out.
  16. I've had problems with the headlights not being on a relay. After this many years of arcing, I've had to clean my switch. Easy enough to do, but I have heard of others with this problem. Normally the one head light really dim/ not on.
  17. my '82 n/a was around 24 while I drove it for the summers. That was stock efi, but I think alittle lean. After MS it should be in a range you'll be happy with.
  18. the boxes for the radiator still work and help the s130's. Do you not want to replace your airdamn with an aftermarket? I think that's the best option for now.
  19. It's far better to just buy the super charger because of the gearing required to achieve the rpms the the compressor makes boost. Other than that, just treat it like a turbo intake.
  20. This would be describing boost threshold. At what RPM the engine can make boost.
  21. Now that this thread has been brought back What if any, other types of oil systems did you "guys" look at? I think the dry sumps are a little spendy for me yet.
  22. Plenty for standard listening of say 90db, which would use less than 10w or so would be my guess.
  23. He is here on this site. A search for outbreak drift ought to turn it up. He has some posts on suspension set up.
  24. The long stroke should give more time for a more complete burning of the gas. Better gas milage for the power.
  25. I would be looking for a long stroke engine. A current EFI system like MS is fast enough to change A/F and timings to run the super lean cruises and not det. under power. And there are EFI's out with even faster processors. As stated the S30 has not so good aerodynamics, maybe the later S130 ('79-'83) would be better. It's pretty well proven that they are not really heavier than a later 77-78. But it would depend on what driving speeds are more common for you, city or highway?
