My version of an extended nose front spoiler
ZXR_KiD replied to dum-bass's topic in Body Kits & Paint
any more updates? curious as to if you've worked anything further out. -
I was going to say its a very similar tail to the ZXR whale tail (same as the BSR 280ZX pictured above) therefore I like it. with the ZXR wing it makes a noticeable difference, the car is smoother over road bumps at any speed above 40ish and anything above 70 the rear is planted very well. on the downside I noticed about a 4mpg loss on hwy fuel economy after re-installing the wing on my ZXR. nissan rated their zxr wing at 370lbs of downforce at 100mph... with numbers like that there is DEFINATLY something to it.

I assumed that it would drop into the seam and clear the nose -

DEFINATLY the best attempt at such a nose I've seen thus far. I do agree with the fact that the headlight bezels no longer fit the lines of the nose, maybe swap for a slightly modified pair of S130 bezels??? I also agree with cygnusx1 on the splitter setup. they just appear so far apart it almost looks like an after thought. and as far as turn signals go... the cheap projector style bulbs with cheezy angel eyes that can be found on ebay might be the ticket...I've had thoughts of replacing the blue gel caps in the angel eyes and "back lighting" (lights have a bulb to make them glow) with a yellow or orange gel cap and wire those lights as turn signals... this thought came to me while thinking about the fact that the bumper I would like to put on my S-130 has no turn signals in it. may not be legal in your state however. -
I've got a known good unit I pulled off a '79 that I parted out due to rust, its more or less taking up space so if your interested shoot me an offer.

any plans to part with interior panels? I'm in need of factory black stereo console aswell as the very back panel (on the inside of the tailights) and the panel on the drivers side of the hatch area...

I don't work at any shop or anything but I'm in louisville, good with a wrench and know my way around S130s PM me if you want my info to give to him.

its possible if the gears (being different) aren't the right pitch then they would bind on the flywheel gears and not allow anything to turn, would be easy to check if you have a spare flywheel to mock together and see if the gears will roll freely across each other.

I am curious now that we've got multiple cars with the same number grease mark on the console lid, my car is marked with the #6 (unless one of ours is a 9 and we just have it upside down) and has an earlier build date than some of the cars with lower vin numbers that I've spoken to the owners of, we had assumed that someone on the line had marked them as they where being built or imported, however this no longer appears to be the case. it does still appear that the grease mark is only present on the ZXRs but I guess only time will tell as other owners of various cars get curious enough to remove their console lids. I have noticed the white PRINTED numbers on other cars; wich is absent on mine, but not the grease numbers. as for the valve cover since no one has officially answered the question. My car was equipped with the standard N/A valve cover. and it WAS equipped with a catylitic converter, so that rules out looking for a cat for identification of a ZXR, mine is on the list so we know its a real one. Most likely the cats where varyiant depending on what state the car was destined for.

the 4g63 is a great engine, mitsu has used em in just about everything over the years so it wouldn't be hard to find one, and parts are abundant, just beware of the infamous crank walk that plauges the older versions, the new renditions may have the problem solved, but honestly I'm not sure if they've really been around quite long enough to know for sure yet.

Our 2010 280ZX Race schedule is at RISK!! Can you help?!
ZXR_KiD replied to ww's topic in S130 Series - 280ZX
where/when is the big 24 race? I've got one kinda sitting, not really WANTING to part with it as I do have plans for it and it IS the ECU out of my ZXR, but I can say it'd be well worth it if it could somehow help me get atleast to spectate the race I'm a pretty handy guy in the pits too (not to mention would LOVE to try for some seat time maybe) -
found 1 page with 1 pic http://www.prototypecomposites.com/image.asp?id=705&tc=11&galID=0&catID=1 this composite car is very interesting... gonna have to start saving my pennies

I'm running an S-30 header in my manual steering S-130, the rod sits almost against the header but a sheet of paper slips right between them. it apparently makes enough contact through vibrations to knock the rust off the rod in that spot, but that was before I cleaned and painted the bay

for $1g I'd first have to ask Whats wrong with it? and if it comes with all the computers/wireing, cause that price seems really low for what it is. would be a nice project if it works out.

I'm not sure on the actual specs of that 4.3 but from driving s-10s the way they feel I would suspect a noticible lack of low-mid torque and just general umph as opposed to a warmed over l28, for the cash and effort involved it'd make more since to put QUIET mufflers on a v8 and not show off with the hood up to keep your sleeper appeal.

ZXR wing all the way, but maybe I'm biased altho the 360+ lbs of downforce @100mph Nissan advertises is hard to argue with, I can tell you that on the freeway the car absorbs bumps 10x better, and the rear becomes more than planted through high speed cornering. the whale tail on the blue car could be modified to be closer to the ZXR wing

if the stereo console hasn't been cut for an aftermarket one I'm interested, also if the rear area of interior is in good shape I need the driver's side panel and tail panel

Will the s30 rear spoiler fit on a 280zx?
ZXR_KiD replied to camarojokester's topic in Body Kits & Paint
the BRE appears to fit very well, a 3 peice style spoiler will fit too with a tad of modification to re-shape the curves in it and I think a little widening would help it aswell -
Spotted in Bingen, WA: 240X4 Z (4X4 Z)-Pics!
ZXR_KiD replied to PhilbertZ's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
makes me wonder if the 240x4 is the guy on the IH Scout forums who was talking about doing a similar project, he mentioned finding a Z in a junkyard then dissappeard, IF its his, the plan was to put an "oddball sports car body" as he put it, on a '77 Scout II that had been rolled down a valley, supposedly had a IH345 V8 all rebuilt and ready to go, so it should be quite a beast. I beleive I've seen that delorean on a TV show actually, if I recall it was built out of NOS parts off the racks, don't remember the company but someone had purchased EVERYTHING from DMC and warehouses/sells em for restorations. -
I think if you shortened the hood a few inches and relocate the mounts further back, as powershotnt, mentioned, you if your good with fiberglass, you could cut a couple inches out of the tips of the buckets and reshape them to match the new hood length, fill the bumper slots then yea, you could make it look right. I have noticed a difference with the stock nose on the car, by pulling the hood release on the highway the hood will float up onto the 2ndary latch and the nose of the car feels a touch more planted, perhaps with more exhausting vents in the hood it would help the stability of the bumperless s130s. maybe cut the cap off the pass side hood vents (early cars esp) in theory even drill a few holes into the top of the firewall into the cowel tunnel wich vents straight through the cowel vent/wiper area. just a thought for people to consider

Any pictures of the S130 MSA Type 1 air dam?
ZXR_KiD replied to KnightoftheRound's topic in Body Kits & Paint
I beleive the one on the blue car (if thats your car then VERY nice) is actually a zenon peice, (see image) mine has brake vents, but the peice was/is availible without the one with the DATSUN molding is mostlikely a jpn only type part cause I've never seen or heard of one. -
I do.. atleast for now anyway
