  1. I think that video is fake. It really looks like an iRacing simualtion.
  2. That's really cool! I always kinda laughed at those guys the rolled around in the city in one of those setups but now I see how cool it can be.
  3. Check the FAQ forum. RT moved them and reorganized the FAQ section.
  4. KERS was around for one season (2009). Its back for this season (2011) to see if the problems have been fixed. What's funny is at the Australian GP RedBull had KERS installed but never used it - and just stomped on everyone. DRS in conjunction with KERS did work to allow a few passes in turn 1 that would have never occurred. The new Pirelli tires were by far the biggest technical issue the teams had to work through.
  5. Tokico should replace them under warranty as long as there is no damage to the shock shaft. Work with your original seller.
  6. Sorry about the problem Richard. I'll like to this video on YouTube and if enough people see it then maybe BRC will get their act together.
  7. Give the guy a break. Everyone who races does something stupid from time-to-time. Most are not caught on camera. In his case the grid marshals could have spotted his loose chin strap and had him fix it. I've been caught by the marshals without my arm restraints (open cockpit race car) and they helped my put them on with 30 seconds to go. If you don't have a crew its pretty easy to miss things like this because you're nervous before the start.

  9. Like I said, the box costs me $52.88 (66" x 56" x 8" custom two part), the furniture blanket I wrap the hood in costs me $9.95, the additional filler boxes and padding inside costs another $10, so we're at $72.88 for materials alone. It takes me about 1/2 hour to pack it and I pay myself $25.12 to do that, do the shipping paperwork, and help load it on the truck. I'm probably overcharging by .12 - So far I've never had a shipping damage claim anywhere in the world.
  10. They are currently made by Accel, G-Sport, EMPI, Mr. Gasket, and I think Bosch. They are not rare.
  11. That's fine. I was just concerned that your post implied that my FG hood costs a silly amount of money. I'm sure the Prototype Composites hood will be good quality and you'll be happy with it.
  12. Not fair comparing the price of my CF hood shipped to the price of a FG hood shipped.
  13. Yes. Tire choice has little to do with springs. Run whatver tire you want and yes you can use spacer as long as you can get the lugs nut on correctly.
  14. Ack! Sorry! I thought I was editing my own post. I'll fix it.
  15. Because its easier for people to understand and figure out what's going on. Isolate parts of the system, analyze them in detail, and then you have a better understanding of the system as a whole. In this thread we're trying to understand the effects of weight transfer and torque from the powertrain on the suspension. Without separating the two how do you propose we measure the effects of each on the whole?
  16. Torque reaction does have an effect on squat, never said it didn't. My "100% right/wrong" answer above was in response to the OP's original question. EDIT: Ya know, I don't think Jon's example above is a good one. What you're seeing in the automatic trans brake torque example is the suspension reacting to the applied brakes through the rear suspension. If the brakes are not applied, the vast majority of the reaction will be due to weight transfer, although there might be some suspension reaction to the inerita/grip of the rear wheels.
  17. We're not really here to sell product. Vendors can post threads in the Vendor section and customers can comment in those threads. That's probably as far as we want to go.
  18. It really depends on usage. The ITS road race guys will lose the synchros after a couple years (at best) with only 180hp.
  19. BTW... squat is not a bad thing in drag racing. Depending on the car it can soften the initial launch loads on the rear tires. My 1966 GTO would get quicker 60' times by letting the back end squat about 3". Any less and the tires would break loose and any more would just waste time. As a driver I had to know the delay in actual forward movement that squat imposed and stage the car accordingly.
  20. Weight transfer is the change in load as a result of an acceleration. Torque is a moment rotating an object around its axis. Two different things.
  21. My answer was in response to the OP's question which included this statement: I stand by my original reply.
  22. If you going to run the original size springs then you'll have to run a 15 x 7 wheel. 15 x 8s really only fit if you're running coil voer 2.5" ID springs. A 225/50-15 is fine on a 7" wide rim. Most of us shop at http://www.tirerack.com and, depending on when and where you're going in LA, you can have them drop shipped to my shop and you can pick them up anytime. And the rims I ran on both pictures were custom. The first pic has Monocoque (now Bogart) 15 x 8 with 4.5" backspace - 10.1 lbs. each. The second picture had custom Kodiak 16 x 10" with 5.5" backspace - 15.2 lbs. each.
