  1. Whatever method you choose, try it on the back part of the panel or an unseen piece of vinyl, before continuing on anything seen. This is in case you screw up and are now stuck with a fugly part. The clay bar is kind of a cool idea and I had not thought about that before. Basically, I like chemicals. If I had black plastic or vinyl pieces with overspray, I would not hesitate to spray them with SEM Landau black vinyl dye/paint. With proper preparation (read: clean), the finish is extremely pleasing and looks new. Just my thoughts. Clay sounds benign and would be the first way to go before dye or paint. Davy
  2. That's mo lie--they came that way in Japan, so it's "ok" as far as the JDM people are concerned. I did see a VERY nice dark green 240Z with gunmetal color ZG flares at MSA a number of years back. The fenders were never cut. He had a pretty good stance and fairly wide tires that just barely tucked under the fenders, but he DID NOT cut the fenders whatsoever. I asked him if he had any rubbing problems and he said, "No." It can be done and made to look fine, but truly functional is another thing. Davy
  3. You must be a sick, all-consumed, car-crazy individual to do something so overkill. I like you! Very sano set up and great explanation on what was done and why. Thanks for posting the details! Davy
  4. Closest thing to Sturgis that have been to is Myrtle Beach Biker Week. It was cool: I met Eddie Trotta and some others there. After the Z, I'll build a chopper. Take some pictures and let us know how it goes... Davy
  5. Wow, you've gone much farther in your project in the past five years than I have in mine Brilliant work--nice to see it coming along again! Thanks for posting new photos. Body looks great!!!! Davy
  6. I think Glenn nailed it: the look is great and "works" without using a bumper. The huge grill opening, sans bumper, looks a bit odd unless there is a FMIC there because the field is just too big for the looks of the car. A bumper breaks up that opening, but this little mod looks good without the bumper too---nice! Davy
  7. I like the look. It almost reminds me of this car: Davy
  8. Not gonna tell you Ear head phones (hold down the noise from rapid-fire better) Beer & Brats or Beer & Pretzles? (the BIG soft kind)
  9. Man, that's just awesome, Terry. I have that Kit Car article on you (small one) from, what? 14 or so years ago? Too cool. Congrats on the extra coverage Davy
  10. GARRETT all the way!! (son's middle name too ) Aardvark or porcupine? (Don't ask)
  11. Simply add the B12 Chemtool to the oil and run it before draining. Cleans up very nicely. Oil runs out rather quickly too Davy
  12. I'd love it if they did---it's sure better than the squashed-bug-look Nissan currently has. I'm not a fan of the new Z, but this rendering is exactly what I think of when I think "retro." I'd love to have a car like this one. A twin turbo RB motor is exactly what it needs. Looks-wise, I'll take it "as is." Davy
  13. Ooops, it's not his car! You're correct; I don't know who owns it... Davy
  14. Dudes, there are so many cool members that have dropped out of sight it's not funny. Sad to see many of them go, but that's life. Davy
  15. Uh, neither... Sherman or Panzer? Davy
  16. Why don't you try to send a PM to olavcsk, the owner of the car? I'll venture that it is custom or Europe-only. Davy
  17. GM had it correct with the, "Not the best execution..." statement. These SX variants are running around with much better representatives on the web. I wish someone would do one here instead of just Japan. Any 240SX guys know of any in the USA? Davy
  18. Nice "cop car" right there! I like the Z concept a lot and I echo some of the same sentiments. I do like the overall body style---looks like a racing car of sorts. Pretty darn cool. Davy
  19. Showcars is to be left alone; let's be perfectly clear---pure let the buyer beware. There is a lot of disturbing information regarding them. Davy
  20. Super-nice, Yasin. Those truly rock and they're not even common yet I think they're the best idea in hood pins yet, being strong, functional, and lockable. Worth the price of admission Davy
  21. Fantastic rendering. I think this is what the Z car should have ended up looking like. I would take this design over the newest design any day. Why is it that the best artists aren't employed by the car companies? Davy
  22. Diesel fuel? I use B12 Chemtool and add that---cleans like the insides of your engine like Cholera cleans your intestines. Anyway, it works well and I usually warm up the engine. I was going to be 'funny' and say that prefer to drain the oil when the engine is darn hot, so I can burn my fingers and hands, look like an idiot as I scream from the under the car (don't ask), but I thought that would be foolish.... I usually drain the oil when the engine is cold, but I never think about this thingie... Davy
  23. You might very well regret cutting it up. Think twice before cutting once....or at all. I truly believe the stock tank modified is the way to go. But, you still have to live your dream too. Davy
  24. Good point. I think you can send them your T5 and they can do the work on it for less IIRC. With unlimited funds, I like the G-Force T5, especially for it's light weight in light of it's brute strength. It's all about money right? The reasonable gear ratios on a T5 make it a good choice. The T56 is good too, but I have been reading about some gear (1st in some applications and 6th in others) about being unusable, relatively speaking. I could be wrong, but memory isn't totally shot. I decided that if $2000 came up and bit me in the butt, I'd go the G-Force route. Davy
  25. I have heard of a few people doing that before. I don't think it is the "best" way of going about filling holes, but I'm sure it will work. I did that to holes in my floorpans once. Sold the car a little after that. Davy
