  1. Well, my hat is off to you, sir! I think boost carbs sell for some serious cash. I have been thinking about the same type of setup (much less hp, but turbo carb V8) but didn't think about setting the 650 DP I have for boost myself...hmmm. Where did you find the info to do that?   2. Crap---that doesn't look good at all. Almost looks like water got in there and wreaked havoc in there. Yet, the cylinder walls are smooth, not pitted at all? I think it will certainly need a honing at the very least. I'm sure one of the more experienced will chime in. I have not seen the same 'rust' issue like that before... Davy
  3. The 355 looks great under the hood. When you get it completely dialed in, let us know what you are turning in the quarter (if you have a 1/4 mi track near you). Thanks for posting the pictures of the complete install--nice work, man! Davy

  6. GM Sports Salvage in San Jose is one place you could go. I think that may be the place Dan bought his T5 from. I bought my 350 from there. Good guys. If you spend over $500 for a T5, I would consider buying a Tremec for more. You may be buying an iffy trans that may need a rebuild, so you'll be in it for $1000 or so. Why not buy something new and more substantial? Another route is to buy a Mustang T5 and get an input shaft from Dark Horse Performance. Again, nothing is cheap. BTW, I did buy my WC T5 with bellhousing, etc, for $450 from someone on this board. Davy
  7. Harbor Freight angle grinder---cheap and works pretty well.... Davy
  8. You'll have to successfully remove all of the clearcoat (if there is any on those rims) and then polish them up---there is a machine polish on them, looking like little ridges, no? I wish you luck because it makes the job that much harder than a smooth surface. After looking at the work you have already done on your car, you probably have the determination to see it through, come hell or high water. I would certainly clear coat the wheel after you polish, but have you thought about a clear powdercoat? A wheel refinisher is certainly the right place to ask about the process (then do the cheap thing like I do and go elsewhere for the same thing once I'm convinced I can get similar results). Davy
  9. Rudy, I would certainly get some recommendations from some of the car clubs around (Porsche, Ferrari, etc) and also from some high end auto restorers as well. It's like choosing a bodyshop in my opinion, you need to get some references if you just have no idea. See what they can do to damaged rims before putting down your money and giving them the Etoiles.   10. This looks like a ton of work you have done. Will you be covering the fiberglass (correct?) with any carpet or maybe flocking it? I'm wondering about the level sound in the car. Roll cage is something else! Davy
  11. Like Brad said, a WC T5. You'll want to find one from a Chevy Camaro from '93 and older...OR you can go to a T56, which is much stronger, more plentiful, and more expensive. Davy

  15. I gave good feedback for a decent transaction, but I have left my opinion, which they ask for, about shipping costs. Yes, I believe in fair shipping costs, even if I bid on an item that has what seems like high shipping costs. Many sellers make their money through shipping because they don't pay the proportionately larger percentage for the cost of the item to ebay. I make the remark because I bought a $4.95 item with $9+ shipping. It was light, not heavy, and the shipping was unreasonable in my opinion...but I still wanted (needed) the item. Just my $.02 Davy

  23. Waaaay too high for a spring rate, even for a 2+2. That is just over-kill and totally unnecessary. If you want a decent kit, go get a Ground Control kit with a more reasonable spring rate. Read the forum about what spring rates people are using. Ones in the high 100's to low 200's seem about right... Davy
  24. That was me posting too quickly before seeing the more finished project. It was like, "Duh! The car is going to be red, stupid." So, I just deleted my post. Funny that you should have seen my post that was displayed for a max of 20 seconds before I deleted it! Thanks for posting the pics--they are extremely helpful to someone contemplating the same. Davy
  25. I have used ramps, which work fine and put the front wheels up on those. Unbolt said tranny from engine, disconnect driveshaft, drain fluids, get directly under tranny and work the sucker until it starts sliding back. Bench press it down to your chest (figure it's 75 lbs or so max) and get it off to one side. Voila, you're done. It's actually much simpler than you think and it's not too scary either. First time (high school) I was paranoid because I thought trannys weighed a few hundred pounds. I was wrong Davy
