  1. I wasn't aware that we weren't "using" the rep stuff, but I wanted to encourage good posts or good threads, especially if they were civil or helpful, so I would give some to the people involved. Funny, but I never knew why my rep became as big as it did--maybe I should go see???? Davy
  2. Haha! So the guy had a run in with Mikelly? That's funny He won't forget it. You shouldn't have invited him here, Max, because we're only open minded to open-mindedness Purists are funny; this one sounds like a "Nissan only" purist, which are more tolerable than your 'reverse osmosis and distilled' purist. The latter me no likey, but they do pay out the nose for stock parts Davy
  3. Eric, have you tried ebay? Even if you don't find something immediately, chances are it'll turn up sometime in the near future. Also, try Craigslist too. Davy
  4. Not jumping on you. I know they are "extreme" in just about every sense of the word, but they back it up--that is what makes them different than the bulk of ricers. Also, the extensive amount of bodywork and fabrication brings the car into a near complete transformation, but the Honda, well, you know... Davy
  5. I know what it is like---my condolences to you and your family. Davy
  6. Very cool car. It's amazing what a simple combination of the right wheels, bodywork, paint, suspension, rollcage, engine, transmission, and interior pieces can do! I'll get there....someday. Davy
  7. Yeah, or something?!? Looks like a sledgehammer...Anyway, hmm, doesn't look like anything was welded in. Take Aux's advice and take it to a frame shop to see if it is straight (or have the kids measure every which way) and go from there. Something similar to the Bad Dog rails can be welded in for additional strength if need be. Unless the motor is putting out serious power, I would not be too worried...but that's just me. Davy
  8. Bill, try RacerX's thread on "old school photos." I'm sure you'll find something in there. Post which ones you like http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=116774 Davy
  9. The Primadonna is powered by a high strung Chevy V8 and it has a lot of modifications to match a race car, which it basically is. I have seen the white one in person and I can tell you it is a serious machine, not just a bunch of fiberglass cladding on a stock vehicle. Funny, but no one seems to make a remark about a Porsche getting the treatment...well, the Z, these in particular, are worthy of the flares, wheels, tires, wings, etc, and have the power & performance to pull it off well. Just my $.02 Davy
  10. Andy, again, the only thing mismatched is the intake. You can get an Edelbrock dual plane/Performer or Chinese copy (Professional Products) for relatively cheap on ebay. Just keep the motor 'as is' and change out the intake. That way, what you already have will be maximized for what it is. You'll actually enjoy your motor and car a lot after that. As far as the tranny is concerned, you can always use it, but just don't go cruising the freeways much. Davy
  11. Maybe buying an NA car would be 'cheap.' They have good lines too. Eh, something to think about. In my book, if the wife likes the car, that's the one to get... Davy
  12. So I've been wasting the rep I have been giving you, Larry?? Say it isn't so! Davy
  13. Except that the seller is a "power seller" with 0 negative feedback. These are just seats made in China with a Japanese name. They may be OK. Davy
  14. Here is another shot from Classic Datsun. I think a spook painted the same color as the car would look great. Davy
  15. Good pictures, Steve. Thanks for sharing those. It gives a lot of guys a wayof doing it. I want to see your plumbing (on the engine) when you're done! Routing the piping may be a real chore. Good luck!!! Davy
  16. Modern-Motorsports has adapters and they sell for about $200 or so bux. http://www.modern-motorsports.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=6 I've seen them personally and they are good quality. A lot of guys run them. Davy
  17. S14 or a Gen II RX7. I think both can be had rather cheap, especially the RX7. last gen RX7 are still kinda pricey. Kits make it easier, which is why I didn't want to spend the time engineering something I could buy for not much $$$. BTW, are you totally against a Z this time around? You know, there was a 240Z with a swapped 5.0 motor, nearly done for $1900 on Craigslist just the other week? You could have bought that and just finished it, Al. Davy
  18. Gosh, I hope no one tells Paul his car is just a Z with a boat anchor attached... http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=101463 Best Caddy thread ever... Davy
  19. The offset is front wheel drive, so you'll need wheel adapters, which just added cost to the setup. Now, you can buy some Sportmax wheels for cheap and they'll actually fit your car with the correct offset and backspacing. Look in the group buy section. Davy
  20. Tasty little car! Color scheme is good, bodywork looks good, and those side marker lights...tiny, but cool. What are they from? Airdam in the future, yes, no? Davy
  21. Ah, no. The Z hood is better than that. I bet it looks OK once installed. Are any of the louvers functional though? Davy
  22. This is an excellent idea. A person just needs space to keep the car while dismantling it. Look for what Q45 parts are going for and then look at what a wrecked or nearly wrecked Q45 goes for...sheesh. With the right cars, you can make money doing it. Davy
  23. Andy, researching engine combinations before putting it together is key. I'm assuming your heads are stock as is the compression. The "torque cam" is probably made for low end/low rpm power, which is fine, but the intake is meant for high rpm use. You are better off with a dual plane, like a Performer manifold. Stock Chevy is in the 200 to 230 hp range. Since we don't know your cam specs, its hard to say what you'll end up with. If you change the intake, the torque will be pretty good and you'll have snappy, but not overwhelming, performance from your car. I'm thinking you'll have 275 to 300 hp max and maybe that much torque if you change the manifold. Someone with DD can run the numbers and give you a better estimate, but we need more info. EDIT: upon further thought, your combo is mismatched and may make the same or less power than the stock Chevy engine. The ball buster is your intake with all the other parts you have. Does this make sense? Davy
  24. I manage an appraisal department for a bank. Davy
  25. There are more pics and or links on this site. It just takes more searching. Davy
