  1. They did a nice job of getting the car to look good too: various ipd parts, T5R wheels, body kit, decent paint...I like it! Davy
  2. Don't forget about Panteras...great '70's cars. I love them. And they love me too. Davy
  3. I think turbocharging the V8 has been discussed here before. The biggest issue I see is the amount of room, or lack of it, in the Z car's engine compartment. The headers or exhaust manifolds are the next biggest challenge and then plumbing after that. Once these things are addressed, changes to the motor itself will need to be done: lower compression pistons, bigger injectors, better fuel pump, reprogrammed ecu, etc. The idea is feasible, it just takes a bit. I'd love to do a turbo'd LT1 in an S30--that would rock. Davy
  4. One of the biggest things you can do to make your stay here comfortable is to utilize the search function to delve into old threads that have covered your desired topic. When people new to the site don't follow the simple rules outlined in the beginning, the members will cause their every pondering minute on the forum to become an endless swirling torrent of pain (ie they get rebuked). Many preface their questions with "I searched for this, but I could not find any info on...." and so on. I'm probably in the same boat as you in that I'm not a master at everything and I'm still learning to boot. I just try to make an effort to search before posting if I need information. It makes things easier on me (and I'm an admin!) Anyway, welcome to forum Davy
  5. I like the look. I'm not sure how it would be at high speeds, but the look is cool. Davy
  6. On myself, silly? Let's not go there... M-16 or AK-47?
  7. I think these turbo Festys are the cat's meow. This is one of the best smog legal swaps going, and it's still good on gas I'll bet. No one would suspect such a little car could go oh-so-fast with that little 1.6LT! Love these little cars. Davy

    Hello! :)

*Ugh* You should have chosen "Racer Z" or Racer ZX" We have a Racer X here and he's a paint and body expert. Welcome to the forum. Davy
  9. I'd love to see some pics of that set up. The cost is pretty reasonable, especially considering you can get some grat power out of it. Also, post your new times when you can; I'd love to hear how it's working now. Davy
  10. One piece rear main seal stroker crankshaft. Bore is .030. Check ebay for good prices. This is a reputable company that manufactures them: http://www.scatcrankshafts.com/ Davy
  11. Interesting that something rather simple could cause so many problems. Good thing that it was actually sorted out and that could use the car's potential much more fully on the track. The enjoyment factor just went up severla notches and I bet you kissed the car after you tucked it in the garage that night. What a feeling. Davy
  12. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=101463 It's amazing what a little search can do. There's another thread too. Keep the motor. Davy
  13. Other Z's???? Don, you've been holding out on us! Are you still using the orange car as a daily driver or is it pretty much designated as a track car now? Man, with gas prices the way they are, you are a brave man if you drive it daily. It's the fastest Z car I've ever driven...10.9's correct? You and Mike Dennis have been my inspiration!! Hey, sometime this summer I'll drive down to visit you. Just make sure you're brewing something Your 'garage' looks fantastic Davy
  14. There's a thread about a Caddy powered Z car; nice one at that. In that thread there are links to a Cadillac performance forum (if memory serves). The engines are pretty good from what I read: forged cranks, decent flowing heads, lotsa displacement, torque monsters, etc. I'd keep the motor and do a rebuild--that and a few aluminum pieces, mmmm tasty. Davy
  15. Behind? Please... Life is more than the 4 or 5 years you'll spend in school. Take it easy and stop trying to get "ahead" of everyone else. Your pace in life just took a little minor detour and you'll be back in the game soon enough. Your life is much longer than college (hopefully) so stay away from mountain bikes There were people that I went to college with that had strange things happen to them. One girl was shot by a guy robbing her parents store. Another dropped out for a while due to serious food poisoning. Another guy had a car battery explode in his face. Nothing like that happened to most of the people in school or to me either, thank God, but I did have a motorcycle accident years later. Accidents of the two wheel kind are painful. Recover quickly. Recover fully. Davy
  16. Snow skiiing (I'm 'old') Vinyl or leather????
  17. Hmmmm, I'd say BRE! Cash or credit? (be honest) Davy
  18. Godzirra! Blonde or Brunette? Davy
  19. Bartman, they look great now---all lit up with the same blue light. If you change out a different color for each gauge, you can do the Christmas theme *cough* Davy

    Tool Porn.

While nothing I own holds a candle to that (very nice, Ron), I like minor tools of destruction: lineman's pliers (good for ripping the crap out of things), small sledge (any sledge, baby!), and a 15" Crescent wrench (large enough to punish any nut or bolt). Davy
  21. You have one heck of a wife for letting you build that! Here's to owning acreage in the bay area Sweet shop, but we need more pics of the drag Nova as well Davy
  22. Neither. Tastes great or less filling?
  23. Wow, you hauled that thing up to your place without my truck, eh? Somehow I can't imagine it sticking out of your Mazda's trunk Davy
  24. Love the new color, Mike! The car is coming along nicely and I think it'll be the 'bomb.' The cage is very impressive to say the least; I think you'll be safe in there. Davy
