  1. I would suspect cam timing. I have had similar problems with my '81 and it has become almost unnoticeable but I have messed around with so much stuff on it that I'm not really sure what helped it. I do know for sure the cam was off and may still be a little.
  2. That's funny because right there I said, "That ain't no carburetor" out loud. My friends thought it was funny..... And it didn't sound all Texan if that's what you're picturing. I also thought it was funny/stupid when the girl goes to hotwire the truck and the wires are already spliced.
  3. Does he have that stomach affliction too?
  4. I don't know about that specific radio but I have a vacuum tube radio that is probably a little newer and they sell on ebay for $200+ pretty often (w/o original box and manual).
  5. It's possible and not an outlandish claim IMO.
  6. 35 bucks for the whole thing? It says kit but shows the whole thing. Surely it can't be that cheap. If so I'm buying one.
  7. Welcome. I have a similar fuel gauge problem with my '81. Never tried to fix it. What did the PO claim about the engine?
  8. other than that it looks good
  9. Sorry I didn't respond sooner. No you don't need to replace them, they should burn through the insulation (and wire) if they were shorted. You might inspect them closer and make sure the wire isn't shorted inside. If you want to be really sure you could check them with a multimeter (do a continuity test).
  10. Dude, you JUST got that thing running! You're a sick man.
  11. I know you have more involved problems so this probably isn't for you, but what about that additive that guarantees to pass emissions test. Does that stuff work (without killing anything)?
  12. Do you know what your compression is supposed to be? I would think it's probably too high to boost on pump gas. Maybe 5psi. Probably not worth the effort unless you swap pistons and cam.
  13. 250whp should be a walk in the park. Should be... With 9.5:1 compression, probably almost any stock heads and a mild cam you should be good. That's assuming you can make 300 at the flywheel and have a 16% loss through the drive train. Stock LS1 (Camaro) is probably around the same ball park (this might start an argument so here's a link): http://www.cranecams.com/?show=streetShark Dyno #'s are cheap and every dyno is different and can be MADE to say pretty much whatever they want it to.
  14. I always want to post in the thread after it's locked though. I find myself wishing we could just move stuff to the trash bin but still post in it. Like, I wish there was a part of HZ that the moderators didn't moderate......
  15. Check you fusible links (next to the battery) and fuses. Does your door not open at all?
  16. Here's an interesting link I found (not just about cams). I learned. http://www.turbochargedpower.com/Camshafts.htm
  17. You need to be using jack stands.
  18. Ok so a basic theory question. A properly tuned carb vs. properly tuned FI. Will it be the same or will FI be superior still?
