  1. What size is it? A lot of 31x12x3 go $120 SHIPPED on eBay nowadays... Mario
  2. Why not do this: I'm going to be running a 31x12x3 I think... Mario
  3. Where are the temp senders in relation to each other? If you are running the megasquirt one through the CHTS, it is slightly hotter there. Also, if you are doing this, you need to use EasyTherm to make a custom firmware since the resistance curve is different then the GM sensor MS was made to use. Mario
  4. How old are your radiator hoses? Old ones can become soft and collapse when under high flow like on the highway. Also, check your timing. Mario
  5. My favorite movie when I was little was Terminator 2, and I think I came out alright...
  6. Saw it 2 days ago. Definitely exceeded my expectations! Mmmm Megan Fox...
  7. Most BOVs are held closed by boost pressure on both sides plus the spring keeping it shut. They open as soon as there is vacuum on one side and enough boost on the other to overcome the spring tension. I was under the impression that if your IC piping etc were done right, the pressure difference would be minimal and not require such a strong spring. Random thoughts, Mario
  8. Looks great! Now you need to powdercoat the hubs Mario
  9. I'm getting the same problem!!! At first I was smoking a lot but it was caused by me running way too rich and washing down my cylinder walls. Once I leaned my car out a bit it was OK, but I think I toasted the turbo due to contaminated oil... It still smokes. This car never smoked before I blew the headgasket. I know it's not rings because ALL the plugs were oil fouled, and not valve guides because vacuum is dead set at 18 in Hg. I wonder if this is the same problem with mine, and wasn't before because my intake and exhaust weren't sealed up fully... If you want to connect it, it has to go either before the turbo (always vacuum there I think), or use a check valve and connect it to the intake (so as to not pressurize the crankcase), or run one of those vacuum generator tip things that go in the exhaust (they've been covered here lots). Hmm... I'm gonna try reconnecting mine to before the turbo tomorrow... Mario
  10. The one you pulled out is the sender for your water temp gauge. Mario
  11. I love old stuff like this! I have an old Kodak video camera as well, but I think it's from the 60s. I also have a "new old stock" Sears shortwave tube radio. It looks awesome, but sadly it requires these huge massive batteries to run and about a 50 ft antenna that you hang on your roof (weird huh? battery powered but not really too portable). I also have a am/fm/phono tube radio from Mexico from the 50s I believe. I'm slowly restoring it, it was my grandfathers'. I also was given a programmable Fisher turntable from the 70s, but it needs work as it can't turn smoothly, and today I bought an old direct drive kenwood turntable for $10! It's pristine! Looking to either buy and restore an old tube amp to go with them or build my own. Mario
  12. OK. STOP. PUT THE WIRING DOWN. This info is in the sticky, and in the DIYAUTOTUNE install page for the L series. According to your other post, you opted for the coil driver mod. The + on the coil goes to a switched 12v line, the - goes to pin 36 in the MS box according to here: http://diyautotune.com/tech_articles/how_to_megasquirt_your_280zx_turbo.htm READ READ READ! I blew the ignition part of my MS unit on my first install because I wired it up wrong the first time... Double check everything. Mario
  13. NA driveshaft *might* not fit (mine didn't). The pinion flange was different on my turbo car then on the 82 NA ZX donor. Mario
  14. Very interested in this. Might be MSing a twin turbo built LS1 next summer for a friend of mine. Mario
  15. I blew my head gasket almost 2 weeks ago at the drags. The car had a wrong spark map and was hitting 55 deg advance. This was before the swap from my 280zx into my 280z. I fixed the timing issues, richened up my fuel map, and went to the drags. Hit a respectable 14.4 stock turbo engine (other then Megasquirt) and blew the gasket. It sounded like an exhaust leak (and felt like one too), two exhaust gaskets and a manifold machining later, I figure out it's the headgasket. Put it all back together and the car is running great, minus the smoke... For the most part it doesn't smoke on idle, only when I rev it or get on it. How can I check to see if it's my turbo that's gone, or valve guides, or rings? Thanks in advance, Mario
  16. Both Exhaust Works (Ft Lowell and Broadway) are good. They give good quotes and can buy mandrel bends. They did an awesome job of tucking my twice pipes in my 280z. They will probably do my 3in turbo back exhaust soon. Mario
  17. Aren't the early Zs kind of screwy where they get the signal from? I know this is a cop out answer but if you switch to a 280z tach you can take it from the "-" on the coil (just make sure to keep the stock resistor in the wiring). Mario
  18. It needs to boot to be flashed. I don't know about MS-II as much but on MS-I you jumper 2 pins to cause it to go into a special bootloader and flash it that way (unless you're running a non B&G firmware). I've never had one just die like that... There should be a few tests you can run on the assembly instructions page. Good luck, Mario
  19. Front sump? Try to stuff a early vh45 in there! They're front sump and all over the place. Plus the early ones rev like to almost 7k rpms! Mario
  20. Hard to tell with the fansubs. After all the group doing it is OMFG (One Man Fansub Group), dunno if that's literal or not... Rumor has it a bigger group has also picked it up... Mario
  21. I know the feeling! Swapped in a turbo engine, didn't have time to finish the wiring. Finished the wiring and burned an HEI module. Fixed that and the fan goes into the rad. Finally get it down here and the fuel pump goes out. Fix that and clean out the pipes, take it to the drags, hit a 14.4 first run (never ran this car before) and blow the headgasket. Thought it was the exhaust gasket (no oil/coolant mixing), end up doing that twice before figuring on the headgasket. Got it all back together tonight and now it won't start I just want to drive the damn car... Good luck with your projects, I love your s30 Mario
  22. You can download them from animesuki (legal since they aren't licensed in the US yet), and the quality is much better. haven't gotten a chance to see it yet... Mario
