  1. If they don't just get a (I believe it's called) solid state flasher unit. Those will work irregardless of load. Mario
  2. Sometimes when you clean an old tank of rust it reveals pinhole leaks in the pickup. I think that's the problem with mine, when I have less then half a tank the pumps sounds noisier and the car cuts off when it hits boost. Also, recheck the fuel filter(s), and the lines might be full of crap too. Mario
  3. I think it looks way better that way! Can't wait to hear it! Post vids! Mario
  4. You're not supposed to downshift automatics to slow down. Doing so causes a lot of wear to certain parts (due to reversion of rotation). You're only supposed to downshift when accelerating so that the reversion doesn't happen (a la kickdown switch is one way). I believe it's been talked about here before. Mario
  5. If they look stockish, they might be Subtle Z flairs made by Reaction Research. Mario
  6. What mods are required to mount it on a 280z? Looks beautiful! Mario
  7. I know Z32 wheels are directional and are supposed to move air through the brakes to cool them. Mario
  8. Lucky bastard! I just turned 20 on Sunday... worst age ever haha. Happy bday man! Mario
  9. Thats a unique approach to it! I'm going to cut some aluminum sheet and rivet it onto the bottom lip, then do a similar piece on the top part to start sealing of the air and directing it to my IC. Mario
  10. Hahaha that was great! Though with all the cuts I wonder if it truly worked as shown... Mario
  11. 26 lbs a wheel?!?! That's way too heavy! Practically anything with around 4-4.5in backspacing will work. Just do the math. Mario
  12. It always needs the controller. One that DIYautotune sells has the controller inline, you just connect it to power and the MS. The ones with the box are normally so expensive since the controller is built in BUT they have datalogging capabilities. With MS you can datalog using MT, no need for the separate box. Mario
  13. Looks great! One thing though, I know you're going for a clean install but I've heard of problems with the FP regulator being too far away. I've been told that the regulator should be as close to the rail as possible and the vacuum line to it should be as short as possible. Just an FYI, maybe you won't have any problems. I'm starting to tune mine since I haven't mounted the intercooler in my 280z. Good luck! Mario
  14. I did my second install in about 4hrs last Sunday. This is a scratch made EFI harness for my 82 ZXT engine in my 78 280z. Still needs a lot of tuning but it at least made it to Tucson which is 5hrs away from where the car was at. First install took a few days hacking away at it, I made a stupid mistake and hooked up the ignition part wrong and burned something out inside the box that I had to replace. What's nice is all the manuals are online and the whole thing can be fixed pretty easily. The sticky is great but I suggest you have a plan B if it's your DD and you absolutely need to have it going in one go. Mario
  15. I drove home (home) today (which is about 4-5hrs), got here, and proceeded to pull the MSnS-E'd turbo engine out of my ZX. A somewhat significant side story is that I went to the street legal drags on Saturday night. I think I have a problem that only boost can cure... Don't have a camera with me but it has to be done by Wednesday when I have to drive back to Tucson to go to work! Engines out, washing/painting it tomorrow, pulling my L28E out of my 280z and dropping it in. Hoping to have MS wired in by tomorrow or Weds morning at the latest. Anyone else have an impulse engine swap? =P Mario
  16. Yea except the proportions will be wrong and it will crush you in an accident... Such blatant copying! Wow! Haha Mario
  17. It might be cheaper to get another L engine. They're common and usually cheaper then rebuilding the current one. Like this: http://atlanta.craigslist.org/pts/324933819.html Mario
  18. I hate the pre 80 5 speed with a passion! The RPM drop from 2nd to 3rd is killer going up the twisties! I blew mine up (going very very very fast) and now have a 4 speed. My MPG have gone down 5 mpg... I want to put in either the 240sx 5 speed or the late 5 speed. Also, the turbo T-5 is not a WC T-5, it's only marginally stronger then the Nissan unit and the built up gearsets are no longer available from what I hear... Mario
  19. Why not? I've been driving Zs and ZXs since I was 15. They've taught me car control, especially in snow and ice (being a DD in a place where it snows every winter). I've had an 83 ZX, then a modded 280zx turbo (all work done by myself), and now my stripped out 280z with the suspension and exhaust that most older people would hate (might drop my turbo drivetrain in my 280z this summer). My sister learned stick and DD my 83 ZX and hated it when we sold it (at 16 too, now she drives a Subaru Outback and hates it...). Just don't be stupid on the streets and know your limits. If the weather was too bad I'd call home and get picked up by my dad in his Isuzu Trooper that was phenomenal in the snow. Just my $0.02, Mario
  20. The link posted by Zmanco has some what appear to be street legal 4 point belts: http://wescoperformance.stores.yahoo.net/am4point.html They don't look as race-y as the other harness you can buy, but at least you wouldn't have to worry about the 5-0 ticketing you for them. My friend with a harness just puts one side on when he drives on the street, it ends up looking like a 3 point belt and he's never gotten stopped because of it. Mario
  21. Also the Illuminas have a lifetime warranty with Tokico. If they break or fail all you need is proof of purchase to get a new one. On the springs, how low do you want your car? Some people are dissapointed on the drop, since it might end up the same if your previous springs were already drooping. Mario
  22. Hahaha thanks for the comments guys! I should send a link to my dad so he can stop bugging me about how it looks It's been go before show from the beginning. Now if I could only stop the fumming smell... Girls still find it cute though... Mario
  23. I bought my Tokico's from JDMwerks no problem and fast delivery. Illuminas will be fine for those springs. I know it's somewhere in the archives around when you'll need custom valved shocks, but I think it's in the +300-350 lb-in range. Mario
  24. Yep, looks like it's going to be flat black at the end of the week with no body work done. Baby steps... baby steps... Mario
