  1. Yea it's heavier then I thought it'd be. Also, mine is made to mount on a v6 manifold, so it's not like yours that you can buy the intake attachment like the thunderbirds have. Also mine has a monster TB on it (it's removal but I'm going to use it). Looks like there's going to be more SC'd Zs running around. Mario
  2. The bad thing about the AC side (without using a custom intake) places the SC really close to the exhaust. I'm going to try to mount a M90 from a pontiac GTP where the alternator goes, and I'll probably move the alternator to where the PS pump is on the ZX. I'm thinking of making a custom pulley set to use one or 2 serpentine belts. Mario
  3. My dad's having troubles with the MSnS-E ZXT. Seems like the fuel is cutting out, but we don't know if it's the MS, fuel pump relay, fuel pump, or crap in the tank from sitting... Glad you figured it out, Mario
  4. Oh I know Pallnet, I just ment it in the spirit of this mod I was going to run EDIS but found it much cheaper to just buy a ZXT dizzy. One day though, one day.... Mario
  5. Or go to the photo album of this site and upload them to your member gallery. You can also upload them as attachments when you are making a post. Mario
  6. I've never really liked green Zs. I've seen some nice looking white Zs. I want a white Z with black ZGs, front lip, and BRE spoiler. Black fiberglass bumpers if I decide to put them. It breaks up the white quite nicely. But it's true, if I had the money I'd get a deep blue metallic or a gunmetal gray, like some S2k's have. Mario
  7. Awesome man! Looks like I'll be installing an MS v3 board in my 280z in college (I hope!). My car has taken the backburner once again Mario
  8. Just add 1/4 panel windows and a custom tail light panel and you're set! Mario
  9. No need to anymore. When you download the newest copy, go to the Configurator and select the config files that match the version of MS on your board. Instructions here: http://megasquirt.sourceforge.net/extra/setup.html Mario
  10. I live at 7k feet above sea level. It's currently below freezing and snowing... which really sucks cuz I can't get the heater to work on my Z Mario
  11. Isn't red the most expensive color? I think I'm gonna go with white too, mainly cuz I think I'll be doing the body work haha. Mario
  12. Frank no need for another thread as I do want to see people's setups! Everyone thanks for the replies, I just got back from out of town so I won't be able to install it before getting back to college (but I hope I will have shop and welding access there...) so I'm going to try to get MSnS running on my 280z (copying my ZXT setup, already bought the dizzy). OTM, though that idea sounds good, however have you ever heard a bad starter in which the bendix sticks? The non lubricated metal to metal contact of the gear teeth is insanely noisy! 280zedx, your setup is amazing and I've gotten a lot of ideas from it. Right now what I'm thinking is that I want to run the SC in place of the alternator, and put the alternator where the PS pump is on a ZX. One of the difficult things is the size of the M90, it seems a lot bigger then yours based on the pics. It does look like I will have to switch to electric fans to clear the pulley if I do bolt on a serpentine pulley. Any links to mods I can do to the supercharger? Also if possible could you post dimensions of your mount? If I can't fit the SC where the alternator goes I will be mounting it similarly. Other ideas that I've had include running the piping behind the engine, or using a v-belt to serpentine belt adapter, kind of like a v-belt idler with a serpentine pulley bolted to it. I wonder what happened to AZ Zcar's serpentine pulley set... Only ZRaceProducts seems to be offering a serpentine damper but it's like $700!!! I've been wondering if I can find OEM pulleys that I can redrill to switch everything to a serpentine belt... How do you search for OEM serpentine pulleys? Is JY recon the only way? Also, this SC came with the TB (which is huge!) and the MAF sensor is built into it. I think I might just run MSnS-E with MAF support and not run a MAP sensor since most MAF have altitude compensation handled internally. This is kind of important since I will be going from Tucson to Flagstaff a lot, which is almost 5k ft of elevation change. MS is still a little buggy in altitude compensation without adding another MAP sensor. What's nice about the M90 is according to the specs I've seen I just have to spin it 2k rpm less then the M62 and it flows a lot! Also, my SC came with what seems like an electronic valve that seems to control the bypass. So I think I'm going to have a SC switch Kjones and Z-ya, I had plans for a home made JCR type kit, but it would require a custom extension as well as a custom intake. First things first is to install MS to pretty much gut the passenger side of the bay, and switch the fusible links to a fuse box mounted out of the way. Mario
  13. You should be able to get new pins at the dealer... Mario
  14. This is such a neat swap! Where in AZ are you? Mario
  15. Definately post pics! You can upload them as attachments or put them in your Hybrid Z user gallery. Is the Z in your avatar yours? Oh and welcome this site is great!!! Mario
  16. I think your timing might be way off, causing it to desiel (I think that's what the hayne's manual calls it) Did you set your timing as per the sticky (set the damper to about 50deg BTDC and all that jazz?) Mario
  17. You can buy the switch key part (the red and black thing) for like <$10 at walmart... I think the only special thing about this one is the length and end fittings... Mario
  18. $1100 for my first NA 83 ZX $500 for my 82 ZXT $1600 for my 78z, with a rebuilt engine (0 miles), a 77 parts car, and soooo many new parts (made ~$800 so far using ebay) Mario
  19. I know Pallnet offers it: http://www.freewebs.com/pallnet/products.htm But it's pricey considering how this setup is to save money I just bought a turbo dizzy for my s/c project, cuz I know I can get that running haha. Mario
  20. Did that include body work? I don't want anything show quality since I plan on tracking the car. Mario
  21. Wasn't there no O2 till like 79? Or was it 80? My 78 280z doesn't have an O2 sensor... Mario
  22. Speak of the devil it just got here... The M90 came with the GTP manifold, TB, and MAF. The bad thing is the TB and MAF seem to be one unit... I was hoping to use the TB with a throttle cable... It's going to need a lot of cleaning, but at least everything feels tight. Mario
