  1. I have got myself a 240z with a 350 stroked to 383 swapped in it and I am beginning to realize I might be in over my head. It's got a 4l60e and a stock rear end. How do I go about finding a rear end upgrade that will fit my swap and hold 450 hp?
  2. In 1985 I bought a new 70-78 right front fender from the Datsun/Nissan dealer in Dallas. I ended up not using it and has been stored in my shop for the last 35 years. This is the earlier gray fender, not the later black one. I am aware it is quite rare. Actually, I forgot about it until about a year ago. Used and cheap repops are going for around $200. Better quality repops and rebuilt original fenders are priced all the way up to and over $600 if you can find one. These have not been available for a number of years. Any qualified help on price would be deeply appreciated. I want to find this guy a new home. Look closely, no dents just some mild box/shelf wear.
  3. Hello Everyone, recently I have become an owner of running 1977 Datsun 280Z. I have always loved them and wanted to get hands on one of them, I have gotten my hands on this 280Z 2+2 GHLS 4 SPD. I am in love with the car, but it does have its flaws. I would like to sincerely ask the HybridZ community for any and all the help you all can provide on bringing my car to at its best. The known issues so far are as follows: All the lights work other than the front Headlights, and Hazard button does not work. Passenger door does not close fully and it seems does not latch on to the hook. Water on the floor of the car from rain seems to be getting in from the doors. Shift boot is nonexistent and can see the ground from the shift lever. (hence the fumes from busted exhaust are almost at hazardous level while driving the car) Atlast the Dreaded Rust is certainly present but it is not severe at as far as I can tell. I am very excited to join the community and would like to humbly ask for all of your help to keep this beautiful car alive and well. Thanks
  4. I bought aftermarket parts from Dragon Motorsport (I think that was the name of it) before it went out of business. I ended up buying more parts than I needed. I want to know how much I could sell the passenger side fender, I payed a couple hundred for it and want to recoup some money.
  5. Hello everyone! I hope you are all having a pleasant day. I recently bought a 1970 240z after saving money for a long time. I was excited and said that it will be easy, that I am gonna build it within the next few months. I was naive and after reading a certain post on this website, i was "enlightened". "For the newbie car guys on this forum.. New to building Z cars and etc.." Is the post I read. I now want to take my time to enjoy building the car and learn as much as i can through this "journey". I would like to mention that there is no budget concerning this project since I think it will last a life time Here I am now to ask all of you who have experienced building a Z. I ask you for all the advice you can give me and to answer any question listed below if you please. If you think there is a link that will answer or help me in anyway, go ahead and add it. 1. What would you recommend to have in a garage in order to modify a car in general? I am new to this so please list everything you deem necessary 2. What are the reasons you chose a certain engine? The Z i bought has an rb25de neo and I wondering about the positives and negatives about the engines (2JZ, SR20DET, RB26DETT, etc) 3. For a newbie like me, what would you recommend I do in order to gain more experience? 4. Where do I begin? 5. Which differential do you use and why? This is my first time posting so I do apologize for any grammer/spelling mistakes as English is not my first language. I also do not know what information am I missing in this post so, if there is anything you would like to know about me or the Z, please ask away! Regards!
  6. So I've got a couple other threads about Printing car parts on my 3d printer. Well on my 300zx, the upper window pin again broke yesterday. This allows air to whistle while driving and water to leak in with the rain. I'm tired of tearing the door apare to fix a cheaply made part. So, I started looking into what can be done to fix this issue. Well the stock pin has a white plastic ring around a metal ball end, allowing for some movement. The plastic is what breaks. I looked at it and figures a 5/16" washer would almost fit over the ball portion, but would not fit past it. That woudl be enough to hold the pin in place, but I'm not certain if it required much more than that to keep it from rattling or wearing badly. I got into PTC Creo and desiged a new round bottom portion which would allow the pin to slide in the track AND incorporate the 5/16" washer. I printed it up on my Mendel Prusa 3d printer at .1mm layer height, and a .5mm nozzle. at 80% infill. This created a very strong part with a little xacto persuasion I was able to fit the stock metal door pin and now I've got a new slider made from ABS which should work well. The phillips head is lightly recessed for grease to fill and I will glue the washer into place. This looks like a very good solution for a part that breaks all too often. If you end up needing one of these, let me know, I'll sell it cheap. picts below: I'll add more picts when I get to install it probably this weekend. Phar
  7. My steering rack is looking bad. Bellows are off, grease nipple has some kind of strange cap. Does anyone have experience with putting a new steering rack in a 240z? Will it change anything from stock? Lock to lock? I found this on eBay: http://bit.ly/19TR02I
  8. Hey guys my name is Joe Apostol. I'm pretty new to the Datsun scene. I live in Lansing, Michigan and in November of 2012 I purchased my first Datsun. I bought a 260z that came from North Carolina and looked like it had sat in the woods for a few years. I picked it up for $2300 with 80k miles, an l28 and 5 speed swap, rear disc brake conversion and it also came with a new exhaust and all new suspension/bushing throughout. I drove it for the first day I owned it and then put it in the garage and started working on it. Updates will be every couple weeks as I work a lot and am a full time student. So here are the pictures. I look forward to your comments and any advice you may have. Thanks The day it arrived at my house. I bought it and had it shipped to me Gutted it later that week Took out the center console and tried to fix some of the cracks so it wouldn't fall apart. I plan on buying a new one eventually Started installing carpet ripped off the exhaust cut a piece of the floor out and welded in a new patch bought a non webbed non egr manifold. Going to port it for the 60mm tb I bought Cut a hole in the turbo manifold so I can weld in my wg Installed the new cylinger head, been resurfaced, 5 angle valve job, also installed a cometic mls headgaske and arp head studs The worst of the rust, I cut most of it away since the picture and i'm going to fiberglass over it Brand new Greddy td06h 20g 76. trim Wastegate and dump tube. still have to weld it to the manifold I think that's about it for now.
