  1. Seems Harley's are scarce in this thread...
  2. When my chain slipped and the tensioner popped out it came out at an angle and bent the spring. Didn't happen to notice if the spring was bent or not? Could be causing the tensioner to stick until the pressure is high enough to push it. I honestly can't say what it could be except maybe a bad rod bearing. How did the head gasket blow? Over rev/over heat?
  3. Did you put the tensioner back in upside down maybe?
  4. Ouch... I assume they had to cut the roof out to get everyone out of the car safely. That was a beautiful car man.
  5. Nice shop job, and it would probably be effective. Give it a go and lets see how it turns out.
  6. Glad to hear everyone is ok. Condolences on the loss of such a great car. Might sound morbid, but do you have any pics uploaded of the carnage?
  7. It's a Z. It's here for everyones interpretation. I think it's funny and makes sense. Wild Rice is a better play on words than some of the others I've seen here. Leave it on there if you like it, be your own Z. Honestly as much as I try to keep away from it, people still think my car is a ricer. Face it, we drive imports, imports are all perceived as rice. 1 Tuff Z has just accepted that fact and is confident enough in his car to play it out.
  8. Changing your plugs heat range to fix a problem is an old timers trick and not recommended for an engine you'll want to be reliable. Find your problem and fix it right. I gathered from your plugs readings you're going lean, which would be accurate from your first post stating you're getting a pop which indicates prefire usually caused by a lean mixture. Here's a list of things to check out: Fuel Pressure - Self Explanitory Compression - not likely an issue, but always good to check. TPS - Shoud show continuity at idle and none off idle O2 - Not sure about the ECCS in the turbo, but I know the N/A ECU has an LED on it that blinks with the O2 readings. CHTS - Cylinder Head Temp Sensor, cheap replacement part and try wiggling the connector and wires, the old electrical could be shorting. Timing - If the timing is off of course it won't run right. I'm no turbo expert, but that's where I'd start.
  9. If you're fouling plugs then your problem is with the ignition system. Use a timing light to verify spark. Once the ignition is straight and you're getting a clean tach signal for the MS you should crank right up. Have you looked here?
  10. Any relationship with a Z is love AND hate. I love driving mine, working on it and upgrading it. I hate running out of money because of it...lol
  11. The three lines are fuel feed, fuel return and vapor vent to the charcoal canister. A simple replacement pump pushing 10psi should work fine for the carb, a regulator should have a return on it to keep from over pressurizing the system and burning up the pump. I'm pretty sure all of this has been covered somewhere. Look around at Summit racing and you should find everything you need.
  12. Look at the mirror on the drivers side. In order for the shaft to stick out from the passengers side the mirror would be facing the front of the car. The ball joint for adjusting the mirror won't allow you to flip the mirror the other direction.
  13. That wouldn't work, the mirror itself would be facing the wrong direction. I'm sure you can find some aftermarket roadster mirrors similar to the 240Z mirrors that have both a right and a left side.
  14. Agreed, sounds like either a bad battery or a bad solenoid. As for the boot error, a bad battery not supplying enough voltage to the MS could cause unknown errors. Do you have a stim for it?
  15. Talk to MSA. They offer the stroker kit so they must have a line on a gasket for it.
  16. I got a ticket on Fort Hood for 70 in a 35. Radar detectors don't work over hill tops... Lost my base driving privileges for 3 months. Thankfully at that time base infractions didn't go on your drivers license.
  17. Ouch...That ticket is going to hurt. I don't know about there, but here in NC anything 15mph over or more is reckless endangerment. 25 over and you can kiss your license good bye form a jail cell while your car is impounded. NC has really cracked down on the speeding laws. Good luck. I've never been pulled at those speeds. If I ever got nailed going that fast I think I'd take my chances out running them on the back roads.
  18. Hahaha, that's hilarious. The passenger is freaking out, the driver is just insane. It's funny, he loves to go sideways, but he doesn't seem to know how to control it real well yet. Learn by doing I guess, but I would've waited for a clear track.
  19. And again this might not be his problem, it's just one possibility. Flushing the brakes and bleeding everything out really good would solve both problems and reduce the possibility of it being a line problem.
  20. Easy if you get a large enough air bubble in the proportioning valve when the master cylinder draws back it won't release the pressure post the valve completely. It'll pull back enough to release the brakes but leave them contacting the rotors giving the drag he's experiencing. When the fluid heats up the air will expand causing more drag. Air expands at a fast rate than hydrolic fluid which would only serve to increase the drag.
