clifton and arz used "stock" gas tanks but they opened them up and put in baffles or a surge tank. i think they even ran stock size fuel lines up to the motor. pm those guys to find out for sure. better yet, email clifton as he is not on here much anymore. jimbo

i have not had the pleasure of kidney stone. know many people who have. mine was migranes that would have me in bed for a week. recently i found i have plantar flaciitis, or bone spurs in both heels. cant walk. 15 years ago i was mountain biking in so cal behind whiting ranch near the holy jim trail. came to a rocky drop. no problem. went down and came out ok. my brother saw me and said that he liked his skin where it was and walked down. his friend said ♥♥♥♥, if he can do it, i can do it. started down and was riding the front brakes too much and endoed. in the process, he narded himself on the handlebar stem. i was in pain looking at him. hell the thought of it is painful. we asked if he was ok and eventually he got up and we rode back to the cars. i guess later that night when he got home, he was getting ready to take a shower and was still hurting. he caught a shot of his bear ass in the mirror and noticed someting out of place. his testes were out of his sac. when he hit the stem, it ruptured his sac and a teste poped through. off to the er for stiches. get better with the stones. some of the people i know did not know that they had passed the stone. just some hope. jimbo

Seam welding on rotisserie?
JIM73240Z replied to jkgts1's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
i had my new subframe connectors in before i put it on the rotisserie and then seam welded on there. doors line up fine still. i do not think it is that big of a deal. take it slow and in sections. i have seen some people have all of the suspension on while on the rotisserie, that i think is pushing it. jimbo -
says $990. i will keep the ez for a while then. jimbo

looking at it really quick, 1. masonry or wood frame walls. if it is wood frame, there is a 3.5:1 height to width ratio for a shear wall (so the house will not blow down) so a 9' clg is 2'6". this means that the wall between the garage doors have to be that before the structural engineer can even look at using it for the lateral (shear walls). this is because wood is flexible. masonry is different. there is no height to width ratio since it is rigid. 2. conventional frame or trusses. this is for the roof. i say 2x10 @ 12" o.c. for the floor. but the roof over the garage. you could have the single car bay (as it is now) a 11-13' clg with out messing up the elevations too bad. make a copy of the elevations and cut the roof off so the single side and raise is up to the elevation. that will give you an idea of what it would look like. it would be nice to have the lift in the center but it would have to raise all of the garage roof to accomidate that. it does not affect the way it is framed ( i think) just puts it up higher. i hope that made cense. jimbo

send me the plans. my email is jim73240z@yahoo.com . i will take a look and let you know if i see anything glaring. if you could send the structural parts as well, the framing plans that would be great. i might be able to find a solution to some of the structural as well. is this under construction or only in the drawing stages? 10' tall or 10' wide? there has to be room between the dorrs for a structural wall. 2' min is required for some walls but i like to put 3' in between the garage doors so it helps eliminate door dings. you may not have that luxury base on your site plan. jimbo

+1. i have been designing luxury homes for 10 years. 3 single doors would be the way to go and still have the house look good. 8' wide would be minimum. im not sure if you have the room for 9' doors. those are nice. plenty of room for the occasional off center entry into the garage. plus more room for a larger vehicle. there might be other ways to get around the roof line delima as well but that is between you and the arch. jimbo

i used to race road and mountain bikes on the international level for quite a while. i would ride to work every day ( about 5 miles each way) as a get the juices flowing type of thing. had a car but rarely used it. had a grocery store across the street and a mall around the corner so me and my ex could just walk. most days were good. i have to say that some people just do not see you and there were numerous times i had to take the corner with the car because they do not think of us and how fast we can move. i still get a kick out of some of the looks that i got when i was motor pacing behind the city busses going 40-45 mph and passing other cars on the street. always wear a helmet, you never know what will happen and helmet hair is eays to fix in the restroom. have fun out there. jimbo

But smart cars do not get that great of gas mileage. My accord gets better, can get out of its own way and carry 3 more people. Never understood "Smart Cars". Love the front air bags. Looks like they deploy with silicone. jimbo

Adjustable Sway Bar info request...
JIM73240Z replied to Mikelly's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
OK, I see the manual adjuster. Thats fine for me I guess, but if you hook up a cable to it, I can see the pulling of the adjuster but not the pushing part. I guess I am picturing a bike cable or something. Maybe its more than that and I have not seen it. jimbo -

JIM73240Z replied to Mikelly's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
OK. I'm trying to picture this. Only one side is adjustable, correct? So you fix one side in a position and then adjust the other side. To me, this would make the car handle different depending on which way you turn. Am i missing something? Jimbo -
5 Lug Wheels/AZC Race Struts
JIM73240Z replied to Threefivezero Z's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
AZC is making a new rear set up for the Q45, but it is not here yet. Yes, you adjust the shocks through the bottom of the shocks, it is the front, though, that you have to take the steering knuckle off to adjust the shocks. The rears are very easily adjustable on the ground. Jimbo -

The one that i saw was a blade and i did not get to see how it worked. Pics please. JImbo -
I think you need to remove the rear sway bar and cvs to let the rear swing arm down far enough to clear the fenders. Once that clears, you can get to the top of the shock towers. jimbo

I know where i can get the front asb's that are blanks. Just drill the holes. However, I saw a 240 at a race last year with cockpit adjustable asb's. I did not have a chance to get pics or grill the guy on how he set them up. My question is how to get that to work. I have seen the levers at pegasus and others but have not found how it works. Does any one have pics or can explain how the cockpit adjustable ones work? Just curious. Its not like I do not have anything else to do on the car. Jimbo -
It looks like a "jegs" set up. That is a heavy cage. I have mine and its a 1 3/4x.12 which is for heavier cars. Most Z's use 1 1/2x.09 (if I remember right). Price is $399 for the DOM. I think you could do better getting the main hoop bent on your own and doing the mitering yourself and get a better fit for the same price. jimbo

This may be a dumb question, what is the degrees for AN fittings? 37 or 45 degrees. This in paticular if for hard lines for my fuel lines, aluminum not stainless. I thought it was 45 and only 37 for stainless because it will split. Can any one confirm? jimbo

Here in AZ, the child DOES NOT DECIDE, who they want to live with. My step son's jack ass dad decided that after he got married and graduated college (16 years later and never missed a semester (with a ba)) wanted us to give up James so that he can live with him. Then we could pay him the child support. He still owed my wife 16k from back child support. The judges will take into consideration the childs wishes but it is in the childs best interest that they go with. That is usually both parents are involved. This sounds a lot different like the well being is at stake. Hang tough. It will get really ugly really quick. Nothing worse than a woman scorned, and haveing there child ripped away gets an already irational woman even more so. Document everything and record all phone conversations. It may not be admisable, but it cant hurt. jimbo

The hood opens up away from the car. i am thinking of doing something simialr to preiths car to block off the upper half and fill in the bottom couple of inches of the lower hole. it will have a splitter on it so that will brace the bottom of the air dam. jimbo
