  1. Is it the 72 drive shaft that had permanent (for lack of a better term) u-joints?
  2. Where is the squeak coming from? Is it constant, or does it get louder as you go faster (RPMs increase)? Do you have AC? Are your fanbelt(s) at the proper tension?
  3. Rudy - if you are in Davis, you probably know of the GIANT hunting/fishing shop in Vacaville. I think it's off Alamo. right off 80 (on the right as you are coming down the hill from Fairfield toward Davis). The apparel and accessories are on the first level while the guns and ammo is on the second. Lots of knowlegable people there, a TON of inventory.
  4. Not mine, just reporting what I have found. http://sacramento.craigslist.org/pts/334242997.html
  5. Welcome to the club!!! It depends. Only 240Z doors will work for your 71 without any modification. But you must consider the year you are trying to put in. 72s are a bit heavier than 71s, and 73s are about 5 lbs heavier than 71s due to the extra reinforcing channel for side impact integrity. The 70-73 doors have the latch mechanism on the door, with the hasp on the outside of the door. The 74-78s had this mechanism/hasp INSIDE the door skin. If you wanted it bad enough, you might be able to fab something to make a later door fit. If you are looking for stock doors, send me a PM. classiczcars has a wealth of information regarding "pure" stock Zs as well.
  6. The "claw" thing you wrote about is in fact, called a bearing puller. That would probably be your best bet, unless you can get a pickle fork, or some other thin tool behind the bearing. It just has to put even pressure on the backside of the bearing. Personally, all the front wheel bearings I have replaced have stayed in the hub. hmm. Good luck!
  7. What steps have you taken to minimize the amount of air in your block? Air in the system can block passages. Try filling the block at the water pump. If you have to drive your car before you fix this problem, try running the heater at full blast. The extra cooling from the airbox will help.
  8. I LIKE! How did you set up that last shot?
  9. is it THAT big? I think that may be a pote-it note next to it.... *scratches head* hmmm. some people are weird.
  10. IIRC, the voltage regulator on a 280 is built in the alternator (or am I thinking ZX?). OTOH, I know that my 240 had an external regulator that was on the P side wheel well. If it's external, it's a little rectangular-shaped box mounted on the wheel well. You might want to try and make sure that ALL your ground connections are clean and have good contact. Good luck!
  11. Hey, if you ever plan a California excursion, look me up. I have plenty of doors from which you can choose.

  16. Two years ago, we got into a bid war with another buyer, causing us to spend about 20K more than the asking price. BUT, this house is the lil lady's "Dream House" so we will never move agian. Money well spent to keep her happy, and with the 3 acres, plenty of room to expand. As the "Mortmeister" (I like that) said, it all depends on your local market conditions. And the 3 bay barn was a bonus for me (and hopefully soon, for the Zs). Why do you ask? What's your situation?
  17. This discussion is a good one for you, too. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=117761
  18. Welcome! I work in Citrus Heights. How close are you to Sunrise and Greenback??? take a gander at this link...about 1/2 way down. http://teglerizer.com/sucarbs/techtip6.htm#Idli
  19. For any stock part that seems to be on the fritz, I go to classiczcars. There are some guys on there that have been through it all.
  20. I have dealt with that guy on occaision. Good prices and relatively fast shipping.
  21. I think I want to know what you do for a living.
  22. In CA, the stickers are already breakaway material. It's a PIA to try to reposition the thing once it sticks. On the bright side, a replacement sticker costs only $17.
  23. I can just smell the french fry fumes in my cab now....It must be lunch time..
  24. BJ's got a point, but if the car runs already, you won't have to do much since you are in the same town the car is being sold from. How can you have 3 posts just on this thread, and have a zero post count????
  25. I drove all of 35 miles to find mine for $500.
