  1. The Dyno is awsome isn't it. Congrats on your numbers. John
  2. Congrats on your runs. When you do get to hit the NOS your converter should stahl more. Get ready to hang on. I would hit the NOS right after you launch, this way if something does tear up it will not be so bad. If all goes well then hit the NOS from take off. John
  3. thanks for the info. never had a real problem with msd, my old box was a 6400 msd, had it for years and years. probably will send it off to be gone through. John
  4. The real big one is the 1st inside view, I did not edit it. I thought some people would like to see the whole thing from start to return. I did try more compression on the inside videos but it distorted the sound and I wanted to keep it as real as possible. I will try and do better next time. John
  5. Pulled the blower off and took apart. Seems like the seals are leaking, all the gear oil was gone. Time to send off and get it freshened up. Get new bearings, seals, and have the rotors re-stripped. John
  6. Hello Wayne, Well not long ago I installed an alternator. Since then problems occured, battery not lasting like it should. Took the alternator off when we rebiulded the engine. I think it overcharged my system and messed up the MSD unit. Just in case I did replace the dizzy, coil, plugs, even the rpm chips. John
  7. No, they are the 300ZXT CV's, we changed to this setup in August 2006. Before we were running the stock halftshafts. The CV's seam to be holding up Great.Jerry
  8. Had a few problems with some videos I posted. I am uploading the last messed up video now. If you get an error saying corrupt please try again in about 20 minutes. Never Mind, they are now all fixed. You can download now...... done reloading. Here are the links if you do not want to go to my website. 56K beware....... http://www.jnjdragracing.com/videos/test1st.avi http://www.jnjdragracing.com/videos/testinside1st.avi Note: this is a big file 73 mb. http://www.jnjdragracing.com/videos/test2nd.avi http://www.jnjdragracing.com/videos/testinside2nd.avi http://www.jnjdragracing.com/videos/test3rd.avi http://www.jnjdragracing.com/videos/test4th.avi (NOS run) http://www.jnjdragracing.com/videos/testinside4th.avi ( NOS run ) John
  9. Thanks Deja... I also included the video you took of us at SEZ. Thanks again.... John
  10. hey guy's, Finally found my problem with the engine. Bad MSD ignition box. Jerry and I took the car to a local track last night and it was awsome. Felt good to see it run like it is supposed too. Posted alot of new video footage at www.jnjdragracing.com Note: right click on thumbnail and save as. Did some inside filming as well thanks to my brother Jerry who mounted his video camera inside the car. Awsome footage must see what it looks like inside the car with the wheels lifting up. Jerry got the idea from ZGad's footage. Jerry driving and if you listen closely you can hear him yelling and having a good time. Like " This is what its all about " and " Rip where are you now " etc. Any way come take a look. However new issue arrised, have a bad bearing or something in the blower, have to take off and apart to see what is going on. Oh well at least the other issues are behind us. 60 foot imes were a 1.35, consistent. CV joints held up to some awsome abuse last night. John
  11. I would save my money and buy a cam / head package like the eldebrock performer plus package as an example. On another note you will need to see what the stock heads combustion chamber is. example if it is at 68cc then you would want the new heads to be the same or lower, this will keep your compression ratio the same or increase it. When I bought my heads ( eldebrock victor jr alum. heads ) they were 70 cc, then I had them cut down to 64 cc. The cam / head packages seem to be reasonable priced, do not forget the intake. John
  12. I read an article in carcraft, they were talking about running ethanol and what you needed to do to the carb. They mentioned turning the floats upside down. You will need more fuel in this application because it is like a 2 to 1 ratio when running alky or ethanol.
  13. I have always done the 1st step, the second option I have read before but you do it that way if you are running alky. John
  14. Yes, I think all I did was just plug it up with some silicone. You do not need it. John
  15. You don't think you could be floating out your valves due to weak valve springs. It could be possible. On valve adjustment, the looser they are the more bottom end you get. I don't know if they are hydraulic, solid. If you had some to tight you have a miss in the engine.... John
  16. You know HickL could be right, if you are not getting full throttle this would explain your issue. It would not hurt to check this out. John
  17. I would search ebay for a used MSD billet dizzy. I have bought 2 from ebay in the past with no problems. I always try to get them with the slip coller so in the future I can adjust with diffirent deck heights. John
  18. Use the stock radiator that came with the Z. We did for awhile, just need to make sure you use a fan shroud. This will get you by until you can find one. We use the Griffian Radiator now. John
  19. Who knows next year our Z may look just like this one. John has been wanting to fire up the plasma cutter and get started but I like going fast on stock stuff. We have another Z that we have been talking about cutting up, we have all the parts to do another one like the pretty black one ( Steve's Z ). Before Steve sold the car we were going to put the Blown motor in it to see what it could really do, but we ran out of time. So I guess we will have to build another one, we did it once we can do it again. Jerry:rockon:
  20. Yes, my old 406 was internally balanced. We then could run a 350 balancer and flywheel. John
  21. Well when we did the car, we put alot of money and my time into it. It stayed at my shop and we purchaed the rolling chassis, then I stripped the car completely and redid everything. Only the best for the car. It was my love at the time. When our partnership was disolved I was supposed to get some money out of the deal for all my time I put in the car but have not seen any. We have become friends again, he towed our Z-car to SEZ#7 and we used his van. I still rag him time to time on the car. But my efforts have brought alot of side bussiness my way. I wish I had the money way back when to buy the car, I could of bought it for $10,000.00 complete. But is was not the right time for me. Oh well........ life continues. John
  22. I feel your pain, same for me too. I did a compression check, all was good. Did a leakdown test all was good, so I switched out all of my electronics, I have replaced the msd unit, coil, dizzy, and plugs. Have not tried it yet but if this does not fix it maybe it is my fuel. I am at witts end. Good luck in finding your problem, just wanted to let you know you were not alone. John
  23. Here is the link for the video of us racing Steve's old Z-car. www.jnjdragracing.com/videos/stevevsjerry.mpg John
