  7. lets just say it was a 5.? second pass, only ran 1/8 mile.
  8. Hello Hanns, Nope, Z-Gad runs strong. He is the man in our book. He is running real strong. It would be a good run, that is if we can keep the front end down, but he is a 6 cylinder turbo charged, and we are a 8 cylinder supercharged. We have new found respect for the turbo 6 cylinder guys. john
  9. Welcome aboard, Where in NC to you stay? Good luck with your search for a Z and I think a 350chevy is a good way to go. John
  10. Hey guy's I just updated my website and added the new vido footage from Saturday. Go to www.jnjdragracing.com / zcar / movies. Thanks, john
  11. That's your story and your sticking to it, I enjoyed the video. Jerry:2thumbs:
  12. I liked the video, how fast were you going?Jerry
  13. Thanks to all for the kind comments. I am so glad we were able to bring it out and do some testing. Glad we found out about the water pump before SEZ#8. Hopefully we will have some good runs, possible 8's in the 1/4. Hey Zgad can't wait to see your beast scream down the 1/4 mile. John
  14. Exactly as stated above. That is what I was going to tell you. They make the dye for oil and water and it will show where the leak is. John
  15. Last year we had to have the 6-71 supercharger rebuilt, it has been on the car since early November. The poor old Z car just sitting in the shop wanting to be ran, just collecting dust. My brother and I are a team and one will not go to the track with out the other. My brother Jerry had some issues come up and was hospitalized for awhile. Well he is back now 100%. We decided at a last minute notice to go to the track. Below are the links to the two passes we made. Would have made more but had a water pump failure. The very 1st pass decided just to run the 1/8 for a shake down pass. Guess what pulled next to us a Tube Chassis Big Block Chevy Camaro. All I could say was good luck my brother. Well the Z surprised us and we out ran him. 2nd pass, well the video tells the tale. We were going to run it the full ¼ and 8’s we insight according to our 1/8 mile time. But you know things happen. Had to get out of it before we turned it over, Jerry got back in it and still out ran the nice looking 69 Camaro. We did red light but it was also an awesome run. Here are the links to the 2 videos, and a photo of the 2nd pass wheelie. I would right click and save target as. This will download to your computer, then play it. www.jnjdragracing.com/videos/01202007-1.mpg www.jnjdragracing.com/videos/01202007-2.mpg Hope you enjoy, and until next time. John
  16. The Cometic head gaskets are top notch, if you run them you do not need to o ring the block or heads. Most of the Turbo guys around here run them and they are supposed to be the best you can get. Before these head gaskets and if you were putting out alot of boost then oringing the block and running copper gaskets were the way to go. But thanks to Cometic you do not need to do this. You do have to make sure your block and heads are straight and clean. As far as pistons and rings we run the Speed Pro forged blower piston ( same as TRW L2441F) and file to fit rings. If you are planing on bumping up the overdrive of the blower you will need a good bottom end. We are presently pushing 14psi, but soon to be more. We run a Callies steel crank, Eagle H beam rods, Balanced rotating assembly. Hope this helps... John
  17. In this month's issue of HotRod ( March - edition ) on page 40 they are talking about electric / Battery drag cars and on Page 40 is a photo of a Datsun Z car. Thought it was interesting. Check it out if you subscribe to HotRod. Also just finished reading the entire magazine this one is jam up. Has a lot of good articles in the issue. Yall need to check it out. John
  18. Hey Jason, When I hurt my engine (Supercharged) I did a leakdown test and it was a big difference between cylinders, which showed the bad pistons. In your situation I would apply air to the cylinder that is off and listen to hear if it is escaping from the piston / intake / exhaust. This will determine the cause. If it is the cylinder you will hear if from a valve cover breather / dip stick. Could just be a valve to tight / burnt etc. John
  19. Yep, it is the easy way to go. I would make sure the fuel issue is corrected before installing new plugs.
  20. I use the car quest brand 30w in the race engine and a good top of the line wix filter, Prime and fire up the engine, check all vitals, adjust carbs, let it warm up to operating temp. Re-adjust the valves and then go to the track make some passes, then go home, drain it and install royal purple racing 21 oil and again anothe top of line wix racing filter. John
  21. As long as the dist. was still in, then rotating the engine back would not cause an issue. You need to fix the fuel issue 1st. You still have not stated what kind of carb. you have. I would change the way you have the fuel pump wired, have it on a seperate switch, this way you can turn it on, then off to crank the engine. If fuel is spraying out then you probably have fouled plugs. A lot of raw fuel is ot good for a new engine, will wash out the cylinders and go past the un seated rings. Needs to be resolved soon. John
  22. My first thoughts are that since the vacum port was open then it was getting plenty of air, now since you have sealed it you are not. You need to turn out ( counter clockwise ) your air / fuel mixture screws to allow more air. I would go about a full turn and a half on both sides and give it a try. Plugs could be gas fouled but his only happens if it was running awhile and the float was stuck. You said it just tried to fire up. Foulded plugs will cause it to misfire and such. I take it that it is a holley carb, if so just tap the float adjuster with a wrench a couple of times on the primary and secondary. This should free the float. You can also have a friend turn on the fuel pump while you look at the carb and see if there is fuel coming out. Hope this helps. John
  23. Front or Back. The reason I ask is that we have a new one OEM. I think it is for the back glass. Let me know and I will check tonight.
  24. I have always liked Wile E Coyote and the Road Runner.... Beep Beep John
