  1. Looking good, Yall have a lot of Nitrous on the motor. Well I finally got the Blower back from Calif. last week. Installed it and fired it up. Hopefull next March at SEZ#8 we will do a better showing of the car. We too are looking forward to seeing the YearOne Z cars as well. Thanks for the video and tell Rip we said hello. John
  2. Looks good, sorry we could not make it to Carolina Dragway, we had early Thanksgiving that weekend. Would love to see both cars at SEZ #8. No dought you would be the fastest. We can't compete with the big tire Z but maybe the other one. Anyway it would be fun....... We are planning on going to Carolina Dragway on Dec. the 9th, Saturday. I was able to get the blower back from Calif. have it bolted on and fired it up. Hoping for some good times with the fresh engine and blower. Well see. Anyway the photos look awsome, any video? John
  3. After I build a performance engine, I would break in the camshaft and lifters per mfg. suggestions. The ring will seat after it runs some. If the cam is used then I usually break them in at the drag strip. If it is going to break then it is going to break ( note I do use racing bearings with a grove in them and I have a lot of clearence ) What I call a performance engine and what you call one might be diffrient. I would not think cold weather would effect the breakin, it would just be harder to get the engine warm. I usually crank mine up, idle it up to keep it running, set the timming with a light or ear to keep it running then idle it up around 1000 - 1500 rpm let it reach operating temp. Checking oil pressure, temp, listen to engine, checking for oil leaks etc. The I would turn it up some, then to the drag strip or Dyno I go. Hope this helps...... John
  4. I agree, probably the track is not long enough for 1/4 so they run the 1000 mark which would make since to me.. John
  5. All I can say is: That is a bad A$$ Zcar. It was flying........ Welcome aboard 1quickZ. John
  6. We run the hooker super comp headers and eldebrock victor heads ( angle plug ). We also use the autolite racing plug which is shorter. Most of the puls work fine except for cly. 5 and 6. We had to beat the ubes to make more clearence. Hope this helps. John
  7. Welcome aboard..... Look forward to seeing some photo's and video's of your Z-Cars in action. Also some specs on the chassis / rear end etc....... John
  8. Hello Wayne, Well my blower is still in California. They were able to fix the rotor shaft, they used an oversized one and were able to fix it. Since they have it I am having them do a couple more tricks to it. Should be back in a couple of weeks I hope. Thanks for asking........ I guess we will see in March if not before if it makes any difference or not. I will probably go visit the Dyno when I get back. Good luck on your Dyno tuning. John
  9. Congrats Wayne, Looking forward to seeing it again in March. Since your local track is shutdown have you considered taking the car to a Dyno. We found 60 HP in as little as 20 minutes. Might be worth a trip, do some more tweaks and see, Can't go wrong....... Anyway Congrats.... John
  10. Mike, we are running 15x3.5 0n the front with the Toyota break up grade and 15x7 with a 4.5 rear spacing with a 275/60/15 MT drag radial. I did have to take alittle off the rear strut tower 1/4 of a inch (grinder) you can see pictures of the tires mounted on the car at our website jnjdragracing.com Jerry
  11. Where did you get your headers from or are they home built.Jerry
  12. In the WIX filters we use a (orange) silicone Anti-drainback valve, it stays flexible in extreme tempertures, improves oil flow and keeps oil in the filter to prevent dry start ups. Competitive filters use (black) nitrile anti-drainback valves that get hard and brittle and let oil leakback into the engine or oil pan. I am hopeful to be able to give you more info tomorrow on these filters, after talking with my Tech service Dept. Jerry
  13. Dr Hunt, I agree with you. I will be getting intouch with our Tech Service Manager in the mourning to find out what all I can post. Because Big Brother might be watching. I am hopeful to be able to post this info. Jerry
  14. It looks great, are the headers built from scratch or a kit ? Either way everything looks neat and very clean. I can't wait rto see more pictures. Jerry
  15. Mike , I work for WIX filters and have filter comparisons of WIX , AC Delco , Fram and some others. If you would like to see the test results let me know and I will send it to you. Jerry
  16. Go to http://videos.streetfire.net/video/7186c0ae-e364-42a3-8d10-9866007c6452.htm it is a 260Z 4x4 with a 350v8, pretty quick and sounds good. John
  17. The bigger photo's look great, Great job on the headers. My brother wants to do the same as you. I will have to tell him about this. Looking good can't wait to see it run. John
  18. Congrats to you, I still can remember my 1st born, it was about 22 years ago. I have had two more since then. Those were the days...... John
  19. Why a 283 sbc? Why not a 350 sbc? Just wondering....... John
  20. I would invest the money, maybe see if Mike Kelly is interested in the 40K, his company is profit from what I have read, then in a little while buy the car and still have your 40K. John
  21. I don't know much about he lincoln sc engine, but I would invest that money in you 350 you have now. $3000.00 would go a long way on a nice rebuild for the 350, forged pistons, nice roller cam, and nice heads. Just my 2 cents worth..... John
  22. Last night they had a 240SX with a LS1 in it. Ran pretty strong after they fixed a wiring issue. The Mustang they ran had major NOS issues. Any way it was fun to watch the 240SX go down the track. Looked like it had a straight axle rear end with some big tires. John
  23. From what the dyno recorded 7500 rpm is our sweet spot. So the 3.54 gear ratio is it for us in the 1/4 mile, shift at 7500 rpm and roll through the 1/4 at 7500 rpm using the 2 speed powerglide. I would say probably a 3.90 gear for the 1/8 mile. John
  24. I am not sure where to get what you want. When I have my assembly balanced, they need the crank, rods and pistons. So I would get the best deal I could on the forged pistons. Take the rotating assembly to a good machine shop and have then balance it for you. I guess a 6 cylinder is done the same way as a V8. John
