  1. well I have been thinking about it and... It would be a lot easier to make a duct from the front of the car (like the electramotive 280zx had) and put the smaller intercooler in the engine bay somewhere. Most likely next to the radiator. My space age materials (they really are) would allow you to put an intercooler anwhere on the car and still be way better than a regular intercooler mounted in the front of the car. The wheelwell like Veritech-Z was saying would be a cool idea. I could even make it mount right in-between the turbo and intake manifold to decrease lag... This may turn out to be some dumb idea but it could turn out great. How did the subject of SR-71's come up? The idea of a really fast car with no FMIC??? LOL
  2. There is about to be a new producer if IMSA kits very soon...keep your eyes open.
  3. Well I don't really want to elaborate on how it cools. It uses other materials than aluminium though. Much more thremally conductive materials. Maybe I'll put this tiny intercooler up front to make it look wimpy...
  4. I think Veritech-Z should get you to do some BRE camo theme or something for Hugo...it's just paint and can be painted over...
  5. home depot lip!!! Welcome to the club!!! Lookin GOOD! now you just need a really sweet fabricated aluminium dashboard! I hope my Z looks as good one day!
  6. I have been thinking about intercoolers (dangerous) and thought about mounting an intercooler in front of the main crossmember. I will be using a belly pan for my application. I am working on an intercooler design that can cool air temperature WAY better than a standard intercooler and be smaller. That is beside the point. Are there any problems with mounting the intercooler horizontal and running an air intake from the front or the bottom of the car through the intercooler, and then to the side of the car or back underneath? The intercooler will have more than 3x the cooling capability of a standard aluminium intercooler with less size. Just putting the idea of a non-FMIC out there. Take in mind that it can cool air way better than standard. It could be the ultimate sleeper...
  7. hmm... maybe time for a Z32 tranny and a HUGE turbo...
  8. Hey doc! It seems that junker Z with go-fast goodies outside has brought a bad omen...
  9. and it will blow your 280zt off the road...oh well. lol
  10. well I have been searching around and it looks like a couple of people have used an E88/F54 combo and since I have a late E88 and just need the short block I have been looking at this combo. I was planning on getting the head highly modified anyway so the larger valves and porting/polishing are already in the plan. I would just need the intake runners to get drilled for EFI.
  11. ouch! Hope you get better soon! I guess that is what happens when you stray too far away from Zs...
  12. It has been done. Maybe BRAAP or 1 fast Z could chime in on this. The zx valves are longer because of the increased height of the ceiling of the combustion chamber. The 280Z valve should work. I know it works on E88 heads so it should work on an e31
  13. You can't weld aluminium to steel with any traditional process. There are some new processes that can do it though. That is just sheet aluminium welded to cast aluminium.
  14. You will know it wil be worth drivetrain mods from the smile on your face when you jam the right pedal after you put $$...etc into the drivetrain.
  15. headlight cover install: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=111016 Get the MSA aidram that is polyurethane. I have it and it saves $$$$ from the first time you hit a curb while parking and it just bends in and no harm done at all. I have done the Home depot lip but with a plastic version. No reinforcement needed. I have 2.5" of clearance below it. You don't want that little clearance ith a stock or softer suspension. It will scrape just on hard braking. You do have to remove the air dam to get it up on ramps or using a jack. You can put a jack under the car from behind the front wheels if you have a full length SUV capable jack. That is if your car is not too low... You don't want to know how I attached that Home Depot lip...
  16. if you point i towards the back your taillights will eventually rattle themselves loose...and every other little nut or bolt...lol
  17. yes that is the standard air dam with modifications on it to bring the front down lower with a piece of rubber.
  18. at least you will still be able to heel-toe downshift with your right foot...not all is lost.
  19. haha! sounds like how I work on my car! once every three weeks but a lot gets done at the end of 3 weeks... I have always loved how our car looks! just need to hear it now. and then get a ride...but there I go into Z dreamland... Just to let you know I did the garden trim on my air dam and it looks good!
  20. and that from an auto body expert! better listen!
  21. I believe it is corzette that has HybridZ engraved on his arm.
  22. tap it with something that won'tmess up paint. The P.O. of my car wanted $2500 but I got it for a straight $2000 and a driveway cleaning. Still a bit high but not bad. Mine has damage and bit of rust on the passenger side floorboard and a bunch of bondo.
  23. I think he already has a whale tail made...pics of one on a Z on his site. I wonder if he has made any parts yet. He states that the parts are for offroad only so...hmm.
