  1. I gotta admit I'm zcar.com convert. I remember seeing the V8 swappers stuff and the early days of Hybrid Z but, there really wasn't any turbo stuff so I just lurked for a long time. Once the turbo/supercharger section opened up I was all over it. I bounced back and forth for about a year till zcar.com just got boring. Now, like Davy said I have no dought the ratio of time spent on HybridZ and the time spent on the car is very backwards.
  2. Great post. Nice to pass on safety info. Maybe we need to make a safety sticky in the fabrication forum. I know I'm always looking for good hints and tricks for fabrication and safety. Thanks
  3. Looks nice and clean. Also Scottie has good advise. You don't know what it'll do the first time out.
  4. Sounds like what I was thinking. I may play with it tommarow and just see how the connection comes out.
  5. Glad I didn't get stupid and bid on it. I don't think it would have help up well.
  6. I like these! Seems like this is what I'm looking for. What about some off a late model Jetta seems like they are similar but, a little smaller. I'll have to see if i can find a pic of some.
  7. Think you could get us a pic of these lights?
  8. Guy, what are you going to do to yours? Anything? The most sensible answer is to leave it alone but, I've just always hated that seam on the front of the car.
  9. I really like the front of the car. Hard to see the flames in the camera shot.
  10. I want to fill the gap between the headlight extension and the fender on my 82 ZX. It bolts to the fender in 3 places and I assume I should also use a bonding agent as well as the bolts so the gap will not change and crack the filler used to smooth the transition. I searched the forum and found about a page of info but, wasn't able to find a real answer. Seems like everyone had a different idea about the subject. I thought I would bring the subject back up to see if any of the more experienced guys could tell me (us) more info about bonding fiberglass to steel. Thanks Cody
  11. Yes, you can run the O2 sensor on just one cylinder but, if you do that your going to be tuning the engine based off information from that one cylinder. If I remember correctly this is how the headers are on the 83 280ZX I used to have.
  12. So how much did this help? I've thought about doing the same thing with mine.
  13. Basically, you can get pulled over for anything. If your going to do something stupid you got to do it without the police around.
  14. Looks good. Please post some pics once it's on. What hood pins are you going to use?
  15. Great story, I'd love to own my first Z again. Work on those pics....
  16. For the sway bars they are not wear and tear items but, the bushings certainly are. You could certainly upgrade the sway bars while your down there but, most guys just install better bushings and this will give you a large improvement over the stock stuff. If you have the money then go ahead and install new ball joints and tie rod ends. Your going to have so much of it apart already to install the bushings in the controll arms that it would be easy to do the suspension componets also. This will really help if the car has alot of miles on it like most 280ZX's do.
  17. You may have to pull the switch apart and clean the contacts. That happened to mine and several others that I know.
  18. Looking really good. I looked into this years ago and on mine the actual bumper support got in the way. Did you have to cut the metal part of the bumper? Any idea on what your going to do with the turnsignal lights?
  19. Nice car. Makes me want to take mine all the way apart before painting.
  20. I thought about that but, I knew that they needed to be replaced anyway. So I wasn't as careful as I could have been. I used a heat gun and a little plastic scapper on one side and it can out intack but, had a few holes in it were one peice decied to stick to the car. Sounds like good advise for the next time or someone else. While were on this type of subject anyone find a source for the stainless trim that goes above the T-top and attaches to the body on the roof. I thought about welding something on that does the same thing but, it would be less bolted looking.
  21. Guy, have you contacted http://datsunrestore.com/datsun_stuff.html? He atleast has them listed which is more than most places. If you order some please let me know what you find out. I tried to pull my door seals that go around the t-tops off the other day and I'm sure you can guess what happened to them after being on the car for the last 25 years. I guess I need to get out into the garage and caught up to you on my body work.
  22. I've run both in some of my T-5's. The ATF seems to work well but, I think I like the feel of the Redline MTL better. I once had a issue with with one of them that it would not shift into 2nd when it was real cold. I changed the fuild from no name brand fluid to the Redline and the proublem was solved.
  23. Wow, I'm really liking what you guys have done to the car. Now we just need someone to do it.
