  1. My thoughts exactly. Car looks fine though. Don't see any reason it wouldn't sell.
  2. Looks like a great new start! But, I'm hoping I'm wrong, but that looks like rust on the inside of the passenger rocker panel. I can't imagine why it would be rusted like that there, and the rest of the car looking solid as a rock.
  3. That sucks. But looking on the bright side, at least you didn't have much invested in the actual shell - $100 IIRC. Still sucks though, hope it all works out for you.
  4. Have you looked at newer Subarus like the Legacy? Seems like it would fit your needs pretty well.
  5. Don't even think about buying that car. It's a POS, and will cost you MUCH more than just getting a solid shell from a dry state.
  6. I can't believe you drove that car with those frame rails like that.
  7. I never thought I'd hear someone say that a 996 was simple to work on, and an E36 was not.
  8. Yeah, he was claiming it was a Ferrari made to look like another Ferrari. If he wants a fake Ferrari, fine, but don't try to pass it off as anything but what it actually is: A Datsun, possibly with a Ferrari driveline. When he said "rebodied Ferrari 365GTB made to look like a 250 GTO" or "365 GTB chassis" I am going to assume it is a 365GTB with a body kit. As seen in what I quoted from the comments section, it is clear he was trying to hide/argue the fact it's a Datsun.
  9. The rear quarters are supposed to be steel.
  10. Actually, someone has indeed lengthened the S30 to look more like a real Ferrari. However, I know of only one person doing this, and IIRC, it was user "michelle" on here. Also, just took a peek at the youtube comments. Loved seeing all the "It's a Datsun!" comments, and his poor rebuttals. The entire interior is replicated to look like a Datsun replica? Oookay. To his credit though, I think it is plausible that it does have a genuine Ferrari V12, based on a little research I did, since I'm not really familiar with classic Ferraris, although I'm really not convinced it is what he claims it is, although it appears it is now just a Ferrari driveline in a Datsun according to him. To recap, First: "It's a Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Engine, chassis, and driveline. I saw the stampings. I have seen the Datsun replicas, this isn't one of them." and: "I saw Ferrari stampings on the engine, and the car was built in 1968, before the 240z even came out. George bought it as is, from the original owner who did the re-body in 1968. It's not a real 250, but it's definitely a real Ferrari." Then: "we have never said this body is from a Ferrari, nor the interior. Of course the body panels and interior stuff is from something else. Remember, he said "frankenstein of parts." Replica body on a real ferrari chassis and driveline. registered and stamped as a ferrari. I read the thread, and everyone's supposed "call-outs" don't say anything about the parts we claim are real ferrari. the body and interior are replicas..... " Now: "The car is exactly what George claimed it is: a "frankenstein of parts." The engine, transmission, and suspension is a V12 from a 1968 365 GTB/4. That car was crashed in the 1970's and turned into this car. The body and interior are not authentic Ferrari pieces. Some of the interior trim is, other pieces are from Datsun or other places. It looks, feels, and sounds the part, but instead of " Love how the story changed.
  11. At 9:17, you can see the interior tail light cover. It looks exactly like that found in a 240Z. Motor sounds like an I6 to me, not a V12. The roof, the shape of the door panels, everything about it looks like a Z to me. Wonder how much he paid for it. Hopefully not too much.
  12. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yc6MqgjIVSI&fmt=18 Owner claims it's a rebodied Ferrari, yet everything about it screams "Datsun" to me, including some of his comments of smelling gas on the drive. What does HybridZ think?
  13. Looks like the fenders, bumpers, hood, and air dam is real CF, and the rest is vinyl.
  14. We don't want that. I highly doubt having an S30 in the movie will bring any good attention to them. I think it is best they stay far away from the S30 community.
  15. Or worse, leave them outside. My '71 was left outside for at least two years, just sitting. To make matters worse, it appears to have been under a tree. My cowl is rusted, as well as the lip on the fender that bolts to the cowl area, as well as the weather strip lips, and hatch sill. I suspect the car was in much better condition 5 years ago.
  16. As I recall we too rented a Sonata when visiting Seattle. I didn't drive it, but it was quite nice. Wasn't overly huge outside, but inside, it was more than roomy. Far roomier than the A4 we rented, or the Kia... something or other, which was a POS IMO. The Genesis also seems to be doing quite well.
  17. He was giving you good advice. You made it rather difficult to figure out why it was bumped.
  18. Yeah, I really wasn't sure if that thread was a joke or not. Hope everything works out for him if he's having issues.
  19. Up until recently, we weren't. I'm guessing some people still aren't aware we can post there now.
  20. I wanna say it's just chassis flex. The doors on my parent's Z shut a little differently when jacked up, but are fine when sitting on the ground. Someone should confirm/correct that though.
