  1. yes, previously posted but thanks.
  2. dc, just played the 'rain king' glider video for my wife-she agreed, it's a great vid.
  3. bp, tough to say on the struts as the part number doesn't reference what i have in my z [my p/n's are different for front & rear]. you could check the pricing on john coffey's website...
  4. saw the pic in a listing on ebay while searching for stuff today...[scroll down to see the 'after' pic] http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/240Z-260Z-TOKICO-SPRINGS-AND-SHOCKS-ILLUMINA-NEW_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33590QQihZ018QQitemZ280184368710QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
  5. perhaps you could negotiate a deal to purchase the entire car, then disassemble it at your leisure [also ensuring you have everything you need]. after you pull all you need, sell the remainder-locally, cheesebay, craigslist, etc. that's what i did and it helped to dramatically reduce my overall acquisition cost of the eng, trans, fans & pcm.
  6. arnz, i have 2 new hatch seals left. they are aftermarket but softer than the oem [nissan] seal. this means, as it is more compliant than the original you don't have to slam the hatch to close it. i've sold more than 40 of them in the past year-even one to jim fredrick in tampa-he compared it side by side with a nissan seal and said he liked this one better. shoot me an email [one_tuffz@yahoo.com] if you're interested, priced same as the group buy i offered here earlier this year-east coast-45+5 [ship]+pp fee 4%= total $52.08, not east coast-45+6.25+pp 4%= total $53.39 they will be shipped usps, priority mail, uninsured. here's a link to the group buy; http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=120084&page=3
  7. mike, if i'm interpreting the pics correctly it apprears as though you can retain a 'factory' parking brake. do you plan to use it? what is the diameter of the rotor? last Q, is the caliper bracket the same [i know this one may be dumb] as the 240sx bracket that mml offers [wondering if it would bolt right up to mine...]? thanks
  8. it looks great! probably tempted to drive barefoot now...
  9. very nicely executed indeed! interesting forward rake to the car [front end considerably lower than the rear-as seen in the profile shot]-looks great but uncertain what it does for the handling. i am, of course, partial to the white...
  10. no write up. it was pretty simple, i used the factory mount that extends forward [where the bottom/middle of the grill mounts] from the lower radiator support. made a bracket that bolts to it and extends forward, allowing the backside lip of the air dam to sit on top. i know this sounds confusing, but once you look at the front of your z it'll make sense. i had a guy weld one up from some muffler hanger steel strap-as i can't weld. just told him what i needed.
  11. that air dam [which is slightly bowed-down-in the middle] is a xenon brand. msa sells them. have one on my z-been on for about 15 years now. mine used to bow in the middle until i fabricated an additional mount to support the middle. you also mentioned that the one in the pic you posted was too high above the ground. i believe that pic was taken with the air dam on a stock ride height z. fwiw.
  12. jay, didn't you mean to say "before the weather goes completely north"? a bit of tongue in cheek...here's a z in my driveway-just snapped this pic!
  13. sitting under a comfortable blanket of snow...
  14. brake fade, what's that? [lol]. no brake fade at all, in fact the brakes-once up to temp work very well. repeated reduction from 150 to ~80 before entering the bus stop [back straight at wgi] is no problem. i'm confident there is more available [ie, brake later/deeper] but i don't have the guts to push it further. i'm running 13" front rotors, 11" in the rear.
  15. bj, i had been told that there is a 'transfer' of pad [something] to the rotor during the bedding in process and that if i changed pads from track to street i'd either need a set of rotors for my street pads or have to 'cut' the rotors prior to swapping pads. not being an engineer myself [or much skill in that area] i tend to listen to those who are experienced. one of the reasons that i do much reading and little posting here-to learn and benefit. as far as same pads on my car, no real good reason except trying to keep similar performance at all four corners. i'm very open to suggestions/ideas from those who know. i would really prefer to not run track pads on the street. seems that street pads have a nice initial bit and work great unless you're running repeated and higher speed/high effort stops. so, can i switch pads and keep a set that i use only for track and street-without separate rotors and/or turning my rotors to clean the pad material from the rotors?
  16. marc, i've been working on my bias for years now [no exageration]. here's my current setup that works very well. mml front 13" rotors with the cobra 2 piston calipers, kvr pads, 240sx rears 11" rotors hawk hp+ pads. i called a few brake pad places to inquire about coefficient of friction [ranges] for pads and simply went with a slightly higher cf for the rear pads. my z is a 73, no factory prop valve, no factory safety valve [the one on the left front strut tower], no aftermarket prop valve [found that by removing it i gained a bit of rear bias]. it doesn't have the initial bite that my daily driver honda accord does but hot lapping at watkins glen, it truly works great. i also checked my brake line pressures [small gauge at the bleeder screw]. initial moderate pedal application is approximately 500 psi rear, 700 front, mashing pedal as hard as i can gives me approx. 1300 rear, 1800 front. i couldn't find anything anywhere online to give me an idea of what the pressures mean [relative to each other], so i called a friend at classic tube [classictube.com]. he felt that i have plenty of brake line pressure, the master cyl is doing it's job and perhaps the system is fine. i'd really like to run the same pads front & rear [really don't like the lack of initial bite of the kvr's and the dust they coat my wheels with are really starting to kill my nice wheels]. marc, if you come up with a way to mount the 240sx calipers further out and source a rotor to match them, i'd want the same. with "more" rear brakes, i could reinstall my prop valve and gain some adjustability-but at a minimum run same pads f/r. i looked into what the 240sxr's use to upgrade their rear brakes and it's the z32 calipers. not too expensive, but the rotors are 5 lug [i'm 4 lug] and the parking brake is a drum within the rotor, again not what i'm looking for.... david
  17. bob, so-i'm guessing you are now getting ready for the 08 convention! even better road course-mid ohio, convention in cleveland. missed you in fla. i was in corpus for my fixed wing training, many years ago. used to run my z up and down the runway at cabiness [i lived in an apt about 2 miles away]. david
  18. overall, what is your opinion on the quality/fit/finish of it? i'm considering it to replace the xenon air dam i have on my z...
  19. i really like the air dam as well-gives the z a nice 'nose' profile, where did you purchase it. is it fiberglass or urethane?
  20. mine is on ebay and the auction ends this saturday. threads that attach to the pin are pulled and need repair. here's the link for anyone interested... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=013&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&viewitem=&item=230193265281&rd=1
