  2. BTW, the duty cycle was exceeded many times when i was welding....I welded for hours at a time. I did have to replace the circuit board as I was welding at full amps for about 45 minuted straight...
  3. I built my entire Z with one very similar to that. It did an admirable job.....subframes, bodywork, etc etc.....I have since bought a miller 115V with gas, and it is much much better, but that one will do the job. If it is all you can afford, it will do the job. If you can spend a bit more, do it. BTW, since I have a new welder, I can sell my HF unit.....
  4. Best wishes to all....just be safe and watch out for the loser drivers out there...they are out to get ya!!
  5. I think it's great.....purism kills imagination and inventiveness. I think that is a fantastic conversion...bet it hauls @$$ and sounds great....yeah, I'm a V8 guy, but seriously, as mentioned above....What a double standard!!
  6. One just pulled up and parked in front of my house on the street. Never been a big Maserati fan, but this thing is damned fine. Interior is spacious and looks more refined than anything else I have seen from Europe...... More stunning up close than it is in pictures or running down the road!! Link to Maserati's site
  7. He needs to check his email address, I think: jers03@aol.com He user status is "awaiting confirmation"
  8. I don't think that the moniker of "legend' fits....the dude was a complete crack head....and more coke went through his nose than the local cola bottling plant...... Was a pretty funny dude in his heyday though....

  10. I agree that most of the time is is one caliper with less clamping force than the other, but also jack up the front and check for play on the ball joints and wheel bearing. To check: Wheel bearings: Grab the wheel at 12 O'Clock and 6 O'Clock and push/pull. Ball joints: Grab the wheel at 2 O'Clock and 8 O'Clock and push/pull.
  11. I went ahead and bought a diagram from http://www.ahdol.com/ I had an email with a 2MB pdf file within 1 hour...now that's what I call service. It was ~$14, and the diagrams are clear and concise!!! Tim
  12. Has anyone used these guys? http://www.ahdol.com/
  13. Been thinking about this and searching the internet, but have yet to find anything. Everytime a do a OEM conversion, I end up buying the FSM just to get the PCM pinouts and wiring diagrams. My last conversion (the 99 Burb drivetrain into my 71 C20), I bought the Helms manuals directly from Helms. The wiring schematics are terrible. So.....instead of buying the FSMs, is there a source for just decent wiring systems schematics? Surely someone out there specializes in wiring diagrams.....anyone know of a place to contact? Tim
  14. I gave it a shot, but it goes straight to voicemail....I called at 14h21 Pacific time...
  15. Hammerite likes a bit of rust to grab to. Leave the part to rust a little for a while. Make sure that you read the recoat times on the directions....if you don't recoat in the first few hours, then you have to wait a week or something to recoat.....
  16. Anyone know anything (good or bad) about these guys: http://racetransmissions.com/ This seems like a pretty good deal: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8012800671&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3APIC&rd=1

  18. Did a tune up on the truck....new cap, rotor, wires, plugs etc etc. Drove it for a few days, then did some work trying to get rid of a DTC, so I was tracing wires and testing connectivity between the PCM plugs and the Coil Module connectors etc. Everything tested fine, so I plugged everything back together, then the truck would only run for a few seconds, then die. I have spent days going over every system, harness, plug etc etc and to no avail. Decided to pull the plugs and check them out...they looked wierd...wetted and carboned.....so I threw in a set of Champions and she runs like a top! Never again will I put those platinum fancy smancy plugs in again......They were all the parts store had....next time, off to another store......3 days wasted!!!
  19. Please use the search function, it will answer ALL of the questions you have now, and the ones you haven't even thought of.... http://forums.hybridz.org/search.php? Also, take some time to read the site rules and save yourself some headaches later on: http://forums.hybridz.org/announcement.php?f=65&announcementid=2
  20. IMHO, you should get it running with the stock harness and ECM. At least then you know it runs. If something was damaged in the fire that you don't catch, you could be chasing your tail thinking that your MS install went awry. At least if you start with a known running vehicle, you can be assured that if it doesn't run once you have the MS installed then it is a MS problem....
  21. Just drop in an LS1 out of a 1998 and newer F-body.....
  22. Do a search on crossflow heads and you will find a bunch of posted info on this engine....very rare.
  23. Been there, done that......except mine rolled back into my camaro!! Did you at least get the hot chick's phone number!!
