  1. Click on the two pics in post #1 and look at the difference.... I'd say its aprox 3/8". In my case, thats all I needed to clear my hood, but as stated, I ended up not using these shorter ones cause it caused my custom oil pan to touch the steering rack, and it was too late to mod the pan (already installed in car).
  2. NO ITS NOT!! the only thing the same about a rb20 trans is it will bolt up to any of the three motors.... The rb20 trans front bell WILL NOT bolt to the rear section on a rb25, rb26 or Z32 trans.
  3. Yep, and the 88-89 Z31 Turbo trans is alot closer of a match to the RB25det trans than the Z32 trans is..... Here is a Z31 Turbo trans. Its virtually the exact same...
  4. HELLO..... Thats whats been said by many for a long while now.... Here is a Z32 trans with a RB26 bell on it...
  5. One thing you might want to consider is what I did. Print out the diagram, take it to a local machine shop, and have them make one up for you.... Mine was done in no time, and fit like a glove. It didn't even cost me that much either (don't remember now though...)
  6. Looking very impressive Stony!! Will your engine stay that far forward? Keep the great pics flowing.... j.
  7. Same to you bro!! I thought you were not sure yet about being able to make it yourself??
  8. Hate to say it but I'm pretty sure if you have rust on the top of that rocker, there is rust on it where you can't see it.... If you really want to do it right, and only once, change out both. There are threads in the archives about this subject, and it even explains how to, and how to protect the back side, where you can't get to once everythings back together and painted. As far as cost to have this done... sorry, I can't answer that from experience. I myself, will be doing this same work soon. I already have the new rockers, and all the tools necessary to complete the job, its just getting myself geared up to dig into it..... Not looking forward to it, thats for sure.
  9. I think the motor you received looks to be in much better cond. than the "blue" motor.... You did very good as far as I can tell.
  10. I sure would like to make the 620mi trip each way to join you guys. My car is up to it this time around. I'm slowly getting it tuned since the RB swap. I put the first 22 miles on it today, trying to dial in the off boost drive ability. I'll have it kickin ass and taking names by March 25th, but I'd sure hate to drive it all that ways and not run it. Nothin worse than breaking something on the car you have to drive home.... I will have to decide if I can go but not run it, just to be safe. It'll be fun just to show up, so everyone can see it, even if I don't plan on floggin it..... We'll see... lets just say at this point " I'm hoping to make it to Reynolds "
  11. Just so everyone understands the above post you were quoted in, this is you>> Charlie Croghan, member (doodoo) 314-221-6662 Speed and Sound 636-464-1063 ask for Charlie or Mark Bond (member mpbondSTL) www.speedandsoundstl.com
  12. haha, I bought a couple of them a while back and put it up for the day when some one figures out how to mate one up to the RB motor.... I really don't think they are stout enough though to handle the power of a modded RB.
  13. Looks good there Gabe!! I know you will like the way it stiffens up the drive line, I did. Mine has been in use for 4 yrs now, w/o a single hick-up. I'm kinda surprised the stock mount can be retained... I've never heard of anyone trying it that way. Good discovery....
  14. This is the part most didn't remember you were up to....
  15. Good going Booztd 3, thanks for the great write up with excellent pics!!
  16. Very nice and clean motor bro.!! I wouldn't get to rapped up in the R32/R33 thing. Long as you get a motor in great cond. like that one appears to be in... you did well. I do have to say though... it appears to me to be a R32.
  17. Not to much...... you better save up a tad more $$.
  18. If you want to give out a hint from who gave you this quote, we'd prolly be able to tell you if it BS or not. Most of the honest reputable sellers are a known few.....
  19. A Buddy of mine and myself ripped every single oem wire out of my Z this past monday, and by wed a.m. I was driving it with a complete new EZ2Wire 12 circut harness installed. Everything is hooked up except the wiper cause I'm going to wire in a different motor. I will complete that portion of the job this weekend. The diagrams are in the painless thread sticky in this section..
  20. The best magazine subscription one can purchase is the one for ZOOM out of Australia (I've kept mine current for the past three years). Each month shows many awesome cars like that one. Those guys know how to mod old school cars
  21. Everything you have described so far sounds normal to me..... Your worrying to much. It'll be fine once you hit the starter....
  22. Now isn't that that something worth celebrating....
  23. Just finished up the painless EZ2Wire harness today, then drove it down the block and back (raining cats and dogs). Tomorrow its finally time to hit the streets with the laptop and get some tunning done on this red demon.... lol I'm jazzed.... its been a long wait.
  24. I used a well seasoned R32 rb26 block, which had both drilled out (one plugged), and everything else used in the build was from a R33 (crank and head).
