  1. They're coming. The DD may or may not have chipped a ring land and cracked the head. Emergency heart transplant. I'll get back on it later this week
  2. Then Jets. Lots of Jets and tuning. I *doubt* you'll hit 350, but it depends on your boost settings...
  3. I see your problem. It appears someone has bolted a grand piano on the top of your german pistons. And Yes. CC them to make sure they're all the same.
  4. I'm 20. I had to stab a hooker for mine. ...Not really. My parents gave me a choice when I was 15. I could have a car or a PPL. I said what if I built my car? They foolishly said that was ok. And the story continues.
  5. The Blue will soon be a minority... Hmm. Red Vs. Blue anyone?
  6. I live here, in cozy Southern Indiana If you'll notice, it's a quaint little town with lots of green things surrounding it. This continues for a few hours of driving.
  7. Like many are saying, if you're gonna put more holes in your L series head, fill them with Valves! We've got plenty of spark for what we're doing.
  8. I go down to Advance Autoparts and have it read for free. Seems cheaper than the hundreds for a new scanner.
  9. I'd be proud of myself personally, that's quite an accomplishment.
  10. I think your decision is largely going to be decided by how much you are willing to spend. I think triple sidedrafts are gorgeous, as well as ITB's, however, they're the upper echelon of price for both carbs and FI respectively. If you've got the money to spend than they're great, look awesome, sound even better. But for all around tunability you cant easily beat a megasquirt setup even on the stock manifold. But if you really like teh carbs, than a good set of well setup SU's is hard to beat. It'll have slightly less mileage than a super well setup fi, but it's all in the tuning from there.
  11. It depends. Which rear end do you have? Also you'll probably want to make sure you have the right speedo gear in the tranny for which ever rear end you have. If you do a search for your diff codes on here you'll figure out the ratios and exactly which color trans gear you need. Then you can accurately figure out if you really are that under driven.
  12. It's always best to hide one's affiliation with /b on upstanding websites like this. That said....
  13. Sure it is. You'll need to find the right TB's like the member that RTz linked to. But it looks like he took the SU mani and cut off the bottom of an EFI manifold and welded them together. If you just wanted to add injectors I don't think it would be too difficult, but I would def. recommend that you TIG it or have someone else TIG it. I'm not sure that you could get away welding alloy that old without cracks. Or at least I couldn't
  14. I think there has been one important fact that's been left out here, how fast do you want it to be? For those of us that are constantly broke (I, being one of them), a lot of the things you can do to the car will be sweat equity waiting for some cash flow. Depending on what muffler you'd like to run a quick exhaust job will make tons of difference if you've still got a rusty ol' system in there. As Drax said, 2.25-2.5 is plenty for a Z and with a decent muffler and if you really hate drone an inexpensive glass pack, it will sound good to. If you make some diagrams on cardboard and take it to a muffler shop, they can bend it and you can throw it on there. I think my entire exhaust cost something like 100 bucks maybe a little more because I wanted the glass pack for drone. While you're under there you can check the car for leaks in the diff and rear seal of the tranny. They're not hard to replace and then your car wont mark its place everywhere it goes.
  15. Hope you get it all sorted out mat. On the other hand, I really like that steering wheel. It's nice.
  16. Looks right. The little slit on top, where does it line up? If the V notch on the pulley and the little slit on the retainer line up you're in business.
  17. For the cost of just a set of SU's that came straight off the car you may be right. But trip side drafts are pricey! If you get a good mani and unless you find a scorching deal on a set of carbies, you spend big bucks, especially re-jetting one. When I looked at the cost of just a good set of mains for the Mikuni's I would need to budget from 50 bucks up. Re-jetting Megasquirt is free
  18. I'm not sure how this would work on a Z, but with some twin plugs and especially with rotaries, the twin plugs is to ensure flame front propagation across the entire combustion chamber. With only one plug on a Porsche or a VW with a deep CC and a tall dome, you tend to get sides of the combustion chamber area that is occluded from the flame front until after the the piston begins it's travel down. I'm not sure what kind of thermodynamic benefit one would achieve with twin plug heads so I'd like to see what some others think of this idea.
  19. Then again you have to look at it like this... You'll have a big dollar 3.4L bottom end... with a old non-crossflow head. Doesn't seem too cost effective here...
  20. I actually think they're separate designs from the ford Mod motor. The failed attempt at the Retro T-Bird actually uses the Jag AJV8 in one form or another. Jags used to be a PITA to maintain, but after Ford bought them they tended to do a little better with reliability. I actually looked at these motors too, they perform well, they're relatively light, especially compared to the giant DOHC mod motors, and it should fit. Unfortunately, I think there's less than zero aftermarket for these cars. I just wiki'd the motor and it appears it's been thrown around a bunch of jags and a few fords, unfortunately all autos. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jaguar_AJ-V8_engine#AJ35 There also seemed to be a similar problem with them as the BMW's with the Nikasil cylinders, but instead of switching to Alusil, they just sleeved them, so you'd want the iron sleeved replacements.
  21. So is this like the Japanese version of what the rednecks do around here and hang plastic bull balls off the back of their pickups? Hmm
  22. Go check out the Indy Museum, it's really fun to stroll around. They usually have a track day on the inside or auto-x going on just east of the track. Colts are in spring training if you like football. If you hit up any of the bars/pubs around the track they usually have good food and TONS of racing stuff around. Literally you get to the north west side of town and there is race stuff everywhere.
