  1. At first look, it seems like a L6 oil pan. However the bolt pattern is different. Some of the holes actually do line up. Also the drain bolt is different.
  2. Boy from OZ: "Fabulous week visiting Speedracer and at Monterey. If you haven't seen SpeedRacer's car in the flesh then I can tell you the photos do not do it justice, it is not just a GTO kit car but a beautifully finished show car. And yes, I got to drive it. " That number 6 GTO with the RWB stripes was restored by a friend of mine. If in fact it is the same one. At the time a guy in Illinois owned it. It was sold and then resold I believe. I heard it was in Asia somewhere.
  3. I also have one marked "K" pulled from a 280ZX but I don,t remember what year it was.
  4. They have a Facebook page as well. If you have an account, send them a message. I think Alison will get back to you with an answer one way or the other.
  5. Just curious. Who's crank damper do all the EP guys use?
  6. Moldex Crankshaft Company in Michigan builds a lot of different import cranks. My friend had his TR Spitfire crank built by them. He used to break all the others he tried. Don,t recall what he paid.
  7. We fixed one like that. Turned out real simple. Took off air cleaner, said put gas pedal to floor. View throttle plate position with flashlight. Found plates not open fully. Loosen linkage slip bolts, push throttle by hand to fully open. Retighten slip bolts, road test, done, runs like a raped ape.
  8. I agree. It does sound like a stuck valve. However several times since I have owned my Z, it sat for a year or more and never had a valve stick when I drove it. Guess I was just lucky.
  9. Years ago my friend did that on a test drive after installing a cam kit. He missed a shift, hit about 8000 rpm and I believe 3 rocker arms cam off. Was a 71 with the early gearbox. Had to pull head and do over. I thought it was funny at the time.
  10. Mine was chrome. I sold it for $60 with the collector pipe. Quality was poor but I think it was a very early version. The 2 to 1 collector always leaked. The new ones sold like that from MSA look very good.
  11. Mine had a thin gasket from the factory. I got to talk with a 68 year old retired Datsun mechanic. He assured me the factory installed them but are not available and no gasket kits had them. I checked the parts manual and he is correct. Very strange the the factory used them new. No one will ever see this unless you take apart a motor that has never been apart before. And finding one of those is rare. Mine happens to be one of those.
  12. Just recently sent mine back to MSA (the 80055). No way was that going on my crankshaft with any method without a machine shop fitting it. It was machined that small. Maybe all the Z cranks made had a wide variance in OD.?
  13. OK, Put back together without the gasket. Front cover is going back on now. Then I can get the oil pan back on and the car back on the ground. With the unusual warm weather here, this is the earliest I have ever worked on the Z.
  14. I am putting on a new timing chain kit on the L28 in my 240Z. The old tensioner had a gasket behind it. The parts manuals do not even show it. The kit did not have it either. I assume everyone reassembles without gasket?
  15. I had 215/60-14 on my 240 at one time. Stock fenders. I had no problems. The wheels were 6-1/2 inch wide with +13 offset.
  16. Those wheels are past their service life. For car show only. Drive car to show and then bolt these on. Or trailer it with the wheels on. Even if they did not show any cracks when tested they are still too weak to use. Good wheels to use as mold to make alloy replicas though.
  17. Mine had cracked and was letting gas fumes inside my 72. I installed a new one leaving the gas tank as is. I got it on but it was a SOB as I recall.
  18. Grassroots Motorsports track tests Torsen, OS Giken and Kaaz limited slip type differentials. http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/articles/whats-diff/
  19. Purchased my 72 in 1976 bone stock. Sold my Triumph TR6. Lots of mods over the years. Body still stock with exception of front and rear spoilers. One repaint by a friends Ferrari shop. Owned her a long time. Think about selling it every year.
  20. That is correct. But it will last a long time. lol.
  21. I had that header on my 240Z. Well used, I would pay only $25 max.
  22. Alan the purist (aka) HS30 from the UK must be having an absolute heart attack over what you are doing. He always attacks our clubs over here. We love it.
  23. Twin Cities Man Caves. FOR CARS! http://link.brightcove.com/services/player/bcpid35036491001?bckey=AQ~~,AAAACC6OgzE~,L0bTvfk9n161rxAUbRKUHVmDGRBSHx-N&bctid=958137284001
  24. BRE now sells a Z car cover with their logo on it. From the photo they have of it on a Z car, it looks like it doesn't fit worth a crap. I plan to write and tell them that it does not look to fit like the origionals. IMO.
  25. Those look like Revolution wheels. Popular in the 1970's. Not sure if they still make them if they are.
