  1. Here, definitely want to read the whole thread, it is long, I actually haven't read the whole thing so I don't want to comment any more on it. I'm going to read it over again though, because I thought they had good luck with the super T70 from SS. Looks like in the thread he mentions that it is actually a little smaller than a real T70. http://www.turbomustangs.com/smf/index.php?topic=37404.0 PS: skip down to reply #16, that is where the real account starts from a different guy than started the thread. The pictures of the Turbo are on page 8, reply #159 Reply #343: Almost been 1 year now. XS power T-69 Turbo and engine is still together !
  2. You'll likely want at least a 60 AR for twin turbos for a mild build. To give you an idea I am using two T3 turbos (the stock datsun type with ~60 AR) and am only expecting to get in the 500hp range at around 12-14psi. The turbos you linked wouldn't work well to make it to that modest level because of the small 48 AR which will restrict exhaust flow too much. But a guy might want a low rev high torque street fun motor and then those turbos would work fine. oops, I see those are 60 AR turbine so they might work OK to get to 500hp. You should read a lot more before buying any turbos, you'll never regret it.
  3. It is not labeled so much as spark B mod, but spark B goes to LED19, so do the LED19 mods on this page: http://megasquirt.sourceforge.net/extra/setup-hei7.html
  4. Yes, you can use Megasquirt. I did an install on a TPI engine. You can see the details in the megasquirt forum. I used an 87 setup.
  5. Well, we finally got Mike's 37 chevy back in my garage to install the turbos. We had all the parts on hand since November but got too busy to work on it. Got a good start on making the turbo headers last Saturday. Its going really well, just doing the old weld-el type header. Using the old head for mock up is really speeding things along. We are placing side bets on what goes first (crank/piston/tranny/rear end) The car is not really built to handle the power, but we will start with 6-7psi and see what happens. The engine is sbc 350 with TPI and megasquirt. It is just cast piston, cast crank, and mildy built th350.
  6. Dumb question here, but how did you physically connect the FET to X4? I don't remember X4 being connected to anything on the v2.2 pcb, so you have to solder onto the pcb pad to use it right?(it is not connected to the DB37) I could be wrong, and I haven't kept up on this thread too good, so maybe you mentioned the setup already.
  7. Blueoval, that explains the tesla coil I'm a EE and have been lucky enough to be at the same fun and challenging job for 9 years. Over the last two years I have helped my wife to build a horse training/boarding business that is really doing well(helped by investing in her schooling and facilities). I am hoping to start working with her full time in the next few years. Right now I have another metal buidling kit on order to expand her capacity. If things continue like they have for the last two years she is going to make my income seem like a hobby.
  8. I wouldn't try, either use a wideband, a pyrometer, or a dyno with wideband, or all of them. You'll be much happier after tuning with a wideband, even with just a little tuning, trust me.
  9. Well Mobythevan came from the old 68 chevy van (white off course) that my cousin owned for several years and always referred to it as Moby aka the white whale. Well, then I bought the van and had it for several years and I just liked using mobythevan for all my logins and screennames because it was never taken so I have the same username everywhere I go. I don't have the van any longer but that is the real picture of it as my avatar
  10. That is why, most likely. It seems that I had a problem with fuel pressure for that tune and everyone that runs it with "normal" setup ends up way rich. That is all I can gather at this point.
  11. yeah, especially the girl
  12. All of the HEI units I have seen are intended to get grounded through the bolt hole(only one of the two bolt holes has a metal ring rising out of the plastic housing), so if you don't bolt it to something on the car that is grounded you are going to be in trouble.
  13. You have correctly answered 3 of 20 questions. wtf? guess I better get another car to work on
  14. I know this has been posted before, but here it is again http://www.dragtimes.com/Datsun-1200-Timeslip-7484.html
  15. I don't think you need any different code, you just go into megatune and turn off spark control.
  16. Can you edit the first post in this thread to explain that it is sorted out now, that way when people open it up and only read the first couple posts they don't just go away thinking bad. thanks
  17. Did you talk with him before sending the money, or did the add list an email to just paypal the money to? It has come up before but once in a while people have emergencies and don't get back to email for a few days. We can hope for the best. It looks like that account has been a member here since 2003 from that link that was posted, doesn't seem like he would be a scammer??
  18. Thanks, I was hoping someone had seen one in action. I am still debating about it, but I think I will get one and I will check on their warranty just in case. I just can't megasquirt my way out of this one, careful how you interpret that EDIT: I just noticed they list a single hammer version for $99 and a twin hammer for $119, I'll get the twin hammer version
  19. I ended up with a 2 and 1/2 ton truck with budd wheels and using 6 foot cheater pipes is kicking my butt(I only weigh 150). I need to do brakes on the whole truck so I'm thinking the 1" impact is worth a try for ~ $100. I have a big compressor that will flow 10CFM steady(the tool says 12-14cfm, so may only get 1 or two off and then wait). I also have it set up with a 1/2 inch hose for the 100lb sandblaster. Do you guys think that will be big enough hose? I am waffling on the decision because it will be like another $75 to get a 3/4 inch hose and plumb it all into my air compressor. And I'm not sure the Harbor Freight cheapo impact will really do the lugs and studs. Any opinions? The specs say the lugs should be around 600ft/lbs for steel wheels:icon52: .
  20. BTW, I know it will probably come up, but I have a 1000cfm throttle body to go on top the supercharger so I think right now a single carb adapter will support me. The throttle body also has 4 1600cc injectors in it, so that should give me fuel capacity up to 800hp at the flywheel. The heads are worked 049 castings with larger valves installed.
  21. well, its suppose to go in my 34 pontiac, but if someone had a nice shell or rolling chassis for cheap you just never know....
  22. Finally got my 454 with the B&M 250 test fired. I just used a holley 600 and large cap HEI for the startup to break in the cam. It really sound good. Now I am making the switch over to megasquirt with throttle body injection and EDIS ignition setup. I have all the parts in hand and will hopefully have a video in a few weeks running EFI and distributorless. I did have a little steam come out of the left side after the second run, I think it might be the intake gasket near number 1, I had some issues with that. Probably have to pull that down and check it out while I'm putting together the wiring harness for the megasquirt.
