  1. Looks like you race at the same kind of drag strip I do where people get right up next to you. I am going to heat my tires over someone's foot one of these days. I like to go along in 1st gear with my foot on the brake and build boost until the tires break lose, and then keep my foot on the brake. Makes nice black marks on the pavement.
  2. Isn't it amazing how NOS can take a complete butt hole and reduce him to a nobody in short order? I don't like NOS just for the risks associated with it. It is good stuff don't get me wrong, but mishaps are usually servere. I guess that guy needed to learn how to wait until you are burning the tires before activating NOS. I would have laughed at him. Sorry.
  3. I know Scottie does, James has an Electromotive. I know people have them, and I would like to know what they run.
  4. Stick you head under there and look while it is making the noise and see. Believe it or not, but the early Z's had the wiring in place to run and electric pump. You just had to peel back some tape by the tank, and then add some plug or something under the dash to complete the circuit. At least mine did, and so did my buddies.
  5. OK sds guys, how about posting some times. I want to know what kind of sds you have, and what your car runs. Thanks
  6. I would have told him he wasn't old enough that I couldn't "bitch slap" him for cussing in my pool.
  7. Well I just might, but the car seems to run fine without vacuum advance, and I am not sure it is working anyway. Still working all that out.
  8. It could be your flux capacitor.
  9. Rick, hows that car running? Well I am the most discriminated against person in the employment world. Preference is given to people of different races and gender than me. I am the easiest to fire. The EEOC won't talk to me, unless they are suing me. They say women make less money than me for doing the same job. (Doesn't seem like there would be very many takers for doing the same amount of work as I do for less money) Also, just to let you know, racism means you think your race is superior to another. Biggoted would mean you don't like someone because of race, religion, sex, skin color, national origin, etc. I heard a black guy on a talk show the other day that was evidently pretty successful. He was getting gas at a gas station, driving his new thunderbird, paid for it with a credit card with a substantial credit line, and notices two white guys drive up in a beat up 68 valiant and put 5 bucks worth of gas in it and said to himself " I supposed to get reparations from these guys?" I did not get to chose who I ended up being, nor do I get to decide how long I get to be here. Why waste your time here whining and moaning about something you cannot change? Serenity now!!! Serenity now!!!!!!!
  10. I think it is overlap that has the major influence, although I might argue that lift might have an effect too. More lift is more flow to a point, and if the valves are open wider and longer, that could have an effect. I have not read the article yet, but LSA is supposed to help compression as it narrows according to the latest issue of Car Craft. I have some issue's based upon what I have been told. It just seems to me you would have a very hard time coming up with 3 cams with everything identical except lsa. The difference was only 12 psi, so I might be inclined to think that valve lash could have an effect too.
  11. There is a little deal over behind the rocker panel where the fuse box is. Forget what it is called, but it has two wires connected to it. It is like a fusable link or something. I replaced mine with one of those plug in fuse deals you get at the auto parts store, and it was good to go. It is metal if that helps, and they talk about it in the Haynes manual.
  12. Have you checked to make sure the coil is not wired up backwards? Other than that, you should be getting spark. You may need to get a factory manual and start testing the ingition circuit.
  13. Use the tec unit, and add bigger injectors when you want too. Vastly superior in every way over the stock set up.
  14. There a few folks on the board getting good numbers out of the stock engine, so I would not necessarily consider that a handicap. The SDS is going to give you vastly better performance and driveability than the stock setup.
  15. I got 170 with a 288(234 @ 50) duration .488 lift. Bob I got into a disagreement with the guy I talked with you privately about. He says camshaft has no bearing on the cranking compression reading of an engine. See why I think he is full of **** ? I asked very specifically to make sure what he was saying. A stock cam or big cam won't make any difference. You know what is scary? This guy works on expensive cars, and races ITS and SCCA. So I guess stupidity is not limited to just ricers. Yo's cam is 234 @ 50 according to the Schneider website.
  16. I would go the Sr20det on it. There was a guy down here running one in his 240SUX and it was running high 12's at 119 with a stock engine with the t28 in it with a t3 compressor wheel. On street tires. He has a front mount intercooler though. You can also work on the 2.4. Just make sure you have good engine management and fuel to go with the boost. You need to talk to some one with experience. JWT can handle the ECU, and upgrade you to the cobra MAF, rev hard the manifold, anyone a turbo. All you need then is injectors, intercooler and exhaust. Tell Clark at JWT what you got and he can set you up. I love my L series with a turbo, but go the more modern route. They will make more power easier, and everything in your car will work.
  17. My pal says every one he has talked to about the propane injection raves about it, but he hasn't squeezed it yet since the VR4 has a broken output shaft. Things like that are what make me appreciate the fact I am a datsun fan.
  18. It is normally considered safe to turn one to 7000, beyond that somewhat with mods like ARP rod bolts and good machine work. I have found that I tended to break rings and ring lands when I exceeded 7k on stock engines, and have my turbo one limited to 7k by the ecu. When I had my 240 with a 2.8, cam, header, light flywheel, and 3 two's, I could routinely rev the engine right off the tach in first gear when doing a burnout. That was pretty cool. Leave two nice straight black marks, and then a space of about 5 feet for shifting to second, and then more black marks.
  19. Thats my story and I am sticking to it.
  20. Bob don't worry about job security, it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling when I see you have gotten involved. I am really starting to think this is a joke.
  21. I would not be complaining about results like that. Man sign me up. Can you imagine the shocked look of horror on some ricer's face when you pop the hood and have your nice stock 2400 valve cover on there, oh wait, thats gonna be my car.
  22. DO the ecu and AFM cleaning first. It is easier and likely your problem. Man why do the hard stuff first.
  23. Check in your other post re mystery turbo death.
