  1. I saw a few OLD skylines as well. From the looks of it, they don't care if they crash, they're probably there just for the hell of it and practice a bit on cars they don't care much about. Hell, If i had a car i didn't give a damn about, and a track in pouring rain, I wouldn't mind practicing like that. I'd be quite a bit more reserved in my driving, but if I didn't care if at the end of the day the car was totaled, I'd have a ball with it. it looks like a lot of those guys are trying to over power the car too much, going to fast etc. I saw a couple guys that did pretty well, and a few that were halfway decent, but it's funny seeing all the ones that freak out.
  2. it's germany. if that car was on the autobahn, i bet it could be 140. also, look at how smashed that deer is in there. it hit so hard, that from the looks of it, the engine got pushed into the firewall, and the radiator is crushed to the point it's nowhere to be seen. for a small 70-80lb deer, i'll be that car WAS doing 140. if it was doing 50 it would've bounced off or something.
  3. I think it really comes down to how well it was stored. go with all of Hrududu's advice. there really isn't much more you can do haha. I'd say just make sure you go over everything thoroughly and it'll be fine.
  4. I see the one that pops out of the square, but there's that silver one a bit lower that looks like it's cracked through the bumper. kinda confusing to me cause i can't see a spot for it on the opposite side (but i see the other square fine)
  5. I never gave much thought for what those squares were for haha. what's with the eye hook near the center though?
  6. it looks like the deer pushed the engine into the firewall? i wouldn't even want to ATTEMPT to clean that car. I'd just say it's totaled and junk it. (weak stomache if i had to get near it hah) the really twisted thing, is that if the hood isnt' damaged much, if you closed it, you wouldn't think much was wrong till you looked into the grill and saw a huge hunk of flesh sticking out. edit: the more i look at it, the deer did a bit more damage than i thought. it's hard to see, but it rammed the bumper pretty good and it looks like it popped some of the bracketing through the bumper, unless that's a magical tow hook XP
  7. blu-ray's capacity is expandable. 25gb single layer 50gb dual layer, but with the ability to expand to even more layers From wiki: Also behind closed doors at CES 2007, Ritek has revealed that they had successfully developed a High Definition optical disc process that extends the disc capacity of both competing formats to 10 layers. That increases the capacity of the discs to 250 GB for Blu-ray compared to 150 GB for HD DVD using the same process. However, they noted that the major obstacle is that current reader and writer technology does not support the additional layers In January 2007, Hitachi showcased 100 GB Blu-ray Disc, which consists of four layers containing 25 GB each.[73] Unlike TDK and Panasonic's 100 GB disc, they claim this disc is readable on standard Blu-ray drives that are currently in circulation, and it is believed that a firmware update is the only requirement to make it readable to current players and drives.[74] so that basically MURDERS HD-DVD, oh yaeh, and Toshiba pulled the plug on it. Looks like the only people using HD-DVD will be 360 people, and none of them will be able to watch High def movies without a blu-ray player or a PS3
  8. i would too. the funny thing is, after looking at the picture for a bit, the diff on those that would be our REAR is their FRONT. so you'd either have to do a diff swap or flip that one upside down? murcielago's are awd, so there's always that to consider. It would be the most badass swap ever though! (and there wouldn't be enough room to put it in the rear of our cars, so it would HAVE to go in "backwards")
  9. I want to point out one thing though. Blu-ray isn't JUST sony. it's actually a joint effort by a ton of companies that created it. I'm glad hddvd is dead. Blu-ray is better imo, because of the fact you can add so many layers to the disks, (capacity basically being the big plus) and iirc, the disks had a protective coating on it that made them damn near scratch-proof. And i'm sure blu-ray players will play dvd/cd/blu-ray, because the burners do (but their a hefty 400+ dollars on top of needing a pretty nice computer) and even basic blu-ray ROM drives (not burners) can play cd's/dvd's (on newegg those are about 150ish) the only thing different between blu-ray and dvd, is the laser. blu-ray gets its name from it's blue laser (i think it's closer to the ultra violet spectrum) meaning it's a lot THINNER of a beam than normal infra red lasers. it still plays normal cd's perfectly fine, since cd's still use the same technology to play ( that is, having a very small track running round the disk like a record) it's just with blu-ray, that track is a crap load thinner, allowing for the track to be longer.
  10. I'm looking at their blog and saw this what's with that cam? it looks so weird the way it's ground. (pics from their L-series build) reading some more through bable fish, it looks like they have an 89.5mm bore on it.
  11. or canada or america or anywhere you can import a foreign car lol.
  12. from the looks of it, he hand beat the original hood for the bump (and did a wicked job at that) then ditched it for a new hood haha. that's VERY impressive (as a whole) i bet that thing really moves too.
  13. and if they do get their hands on one I'll laugh at the gold digger they ignorantly bought. I love my Z to death, but the day she stops taking all my money is the day i die hahaha.
  14. i KNOW this morning was HORRIBLE i could actually see my BREATH and i had to wear a jacket!
  15. that's what i was thinking. if it's too stiff it can't plant itself firmly, and between shifts all the weight would unload and you'd loose traction, too soft and it goes BANG and bottoms out and everything goes screwy. vw's are kind of like that too. but because they're swing axle, you have to be careful how you set it up. i think usually people run the suspension slightly on the high side, so when the car takes off and squats, the tires are close to having 0camber (since swingaxles are like all over the place with camber) watching that supra is insane. from the launch to the end i'm just staring at it skittering across the track haha. that's very impressive.
  16. then eventually contract 1 Fast Z to build you one of his heads and then build a 700hp twin turbo 3.1?
  17. after seeing what happened to the Trueno after Initial D, and the massive explosion in ricer cars after Fast and the Furious, i have a feeling that those stupidly outrageously priced Z's that pop up on ebay...might become the norm. if that does happen...i will cry hahahaha. even though Harumi is the only Z i'll ever own.
  18. it's only a 1.6L imo that's not too bad for a bone stock car with the boost raised.
  19. ah you jerk! I wanted to post that that's definitely how to do a donut haha. Too bad he can't rotate all 4 of them! that would be trippy
  20. WHOA a bit of tripod action at 0:50 I saw this vid before but did NOT notice it 3 wheelin haha.
  21. Pinto forum: Backed up into my garage, anyone need a room mate?
  22. haha I like that one. VW Type 1: Some kid in a _____ tried to race me (vids) (not many street cars can beat a well built street bug lol)
  23. WOW is all that i can think of. that car looks amazing. The dash especially.
  24. Arao heads are also sickeningly expensive. their 16v heads for Type1 vw's START at $4400 a set
  25. Or somehow modify a 4x4 transmission to only run the low range gear setting? Somehow it'll have to run some sort of reduction box between the transmission and rear diff to make the rpm range useable.
