  1. I think he's talking about the fender's flare. because of the way it curves, the light bends and it gives a really weird effect where the upper looks like a shadow, the middle looks like light hitting it, and the edge looks like another shadow. It's just how the light's being bent and reflecting off the paint that makes it look funny.
  2. Wow...that will be interesting. I'm pretty glad the weather out here during the day is always tolerable. I lived in NC, and DD'd a 62 vw bug. No heater in that when it got down to 30 and below. That was horrible. I hated driving when it was cold.
  3. lol it doesn't get cold enough in AZ to need the defroster. It wouldn't help much for me, I don't have a heater in my car. the heater core has been bypassed. It probably formed a leak or something many many many years ago. I don't care though. It never gets cold enough for me to worry about that, and i won't be driving my car in the rain much either (i hate rain, luckily, we don't get much of that in arizona) Guess when I get my car back from the shop i'll run some tests on the defroster
  4. *cries* how could they! those monsters! look what they've done to you!!
  5. Well, a vw engine isn't too wide imo, and you can shove a subie engine into a vw. you do have to do a bit of trimming here and there because it is longer. it's also a tight fit but i don't remember if you have to widen the engine area in a vw. It would be pretty interesting to see if there is room for it. A type1 vw swap would be pretty sweet too. you can get 250+hp out of them very reliably.
  6. I also agree. I don't know much about plenum design and such, but it seems like the initial ramp going from the inlet to runner 1, combined with the bump, is causing a small circular area for the air to create a vortex. you have to change that initial angle to get rid of the first vortex I think. It looks like the flowdivertiers and bumps helped a lot. if it weren't for that first vortex it looks like all the runners would be getting pretty equal flow.
  7. yeah, it was mentioned in another thread here as well. http://thekneeslider.com/archives/2005/02/09/hayabusa-v8-engine/ there it is.
  8. I'd buy a volt meter. they aren't expensive either. Question. if the traces on the glass are messed up, will the light for the defrost come on? my light comes on but i've never actually checked to see what the traces look like.
  9. XP my friend named my 78 280z "Sandy" because the color is beige metallic, but badly sunburnt (but i'm sure i can get it to shine) and when i got her, she was totally covered in dirt/dust from sitting outside for so many years. of course, that's not the name i've decided on yet. hmm.....maybe..... OH i know the perfect name. Harumi.(春実) it means Spring Beauty. my car's build date is 5/78 I think it's a very nice name for her ^__^
  10. Even though I don't care for the 2+2, I do like slownrusty's. I'd say keep it and give it the tlc it needs.
  11. haha, i don't know why, but i found it amusing you remembered me tellin you that you guys passed the scared trailer guy. car sounds awesome btw
  12. how about using a newer idea "Vee Dub in da hood" *strike the vw pose*
  13. and it's only 10 bucks! Demo derby anyone?
  14. My car's got a bit of surface rust in places but i haven't found any pinholes yet! haha. Arizona is great. And that's not that bad. You should've seen what my bug looked like! I almost lost the battery once due to floor rot! and the heater channels, well, they were rotting away. the car was basically rusting from the inside out due to the north carolina humidity
  15. lol that would be my fault. I think i'm the only member here that uses the emotiocon of XP it's the same as I'm on a lot of anime/game/randomness forums. I used to use XD but eventually XP was easier.
  16. XP well, when i was like, 9 or 10 i wanted a vw bug. when i turned 13 i got a 62 vw ragtop for my birthday. my dad never did any work to fix it and it sat in our backyard. we moved to NC, it sat for a long time before anything got done to it (and rusted the floors and such really badly) i was really happy when i started driving it. crashed it twice, got really sad and depressed about it knowing that the cost of all the repairs to the body (including the rust repair) was far to great. I've always liked the Z from as far back as i can remember, so it's no surpise that when i started seeing video's and such of them that i would buy one. I still want an old bug though XP
  17. NEED:Engine rebuild (no idea on the true miles on it, i think it could use it) WANT:turbo setup. Need:New bushings all around Want:new poly bushings all around XP
  18. All i have to say is :D:D:D:D (smiley's hide secrets)
  19. I'm going to keep my rear bumper as a sort of protection. People LOVE to stop as close as they can to me at stoplights. Plus, i have the over riders on my 78. They really help clean the look up of the big bumper. Front bumper needs to go though. I saw your other thread and it looked pretty nice. Now that you have it, i can see it's MUCH nicer than i thought it was!
  20. XP is like But yeah, I can se why it would be a tight fit.
  21. WOW 6'9?! You stand nearly a FOOT taller than me o_O XP how do the old Z's fit you compared to the 350z?
  22. XP i didn't say it was bigger in the S30 (i actually haven't sat in a 350z) i was just saying it feels a lot bigger than it looks. My dad's blazer felt so cramped in it. Maybe it's the layout of everything that makes it feel so big.
  23. Simple because boy's rebel XP they don't WANT to do what mommy says haha.
  24. Hmmm A ZXRT? that would be pretty sweet. The body looks to be in GREAT shape! how's it look under the belly?
  25. I agree on how big the s30 feels. On the outside, it really doesn't SEEM to be big on the inside, but once you sit down, you realize how much room there is. It doesn't feel cramped at all or anything like that. Then again, i am only 5'10 lol
