  1. haha No, it was lame, but i was slightly disappointed when you didn't post a comment
  2. Hey - I keep the Zed in a climate controlled garage, usually. My friend blew up his supercharged 3800 in his GTP and I've been letting him drive my Honda and I've been DDing the 280 while he performs repairs. Yes I get anxious even when it rains because I know she hates the rain My car is all flatblack, the ice lifted a little when water started moving under it.
  3. It'll come together eventually - keep up the hard work! Do you still have fusible links? Mine gave me soo much crap, I replaced them about a month ago and ive had Zero problems on the electronic side of things. I was dealing with not getting charge from the alternator as well. Sorry another question - do you have ARP head studs?
  4. Check out Lengine or the ozdata [or whatever] calculator - the Late NA L28 [F54 block+flat top pistons/P79 Head], has a higher compression than the dished piston early L28. Go with it if your keeping it NA for a while, go with the earlier one if you are going to boost it.
  5. Yeah I thought it was a good one... The frozen tire is a good one too. I've never driven in snow, much less ice. It gets your car filthy when it melts. My Honda and Z are just nasty. I miss Lousiana!! [its getting warm, though ]
  6. R Turbo - yes, that is the colour I was looking at, its actually looking a little better than the Ford at this point. Im thinking I might have to mix in a little bit of silver mettalic. I'll probably play around with some mixtures before I decide. That is interesting you posted that, I was kind of wanting to put two matte black stripes down the middle like your car. I was thinking a little thinner though. Nice ride! Thanks again for the input guys, if you see any more graphites around that have a little bit of that silver shimmer post them up if you would.
  7. Last week we had a big ice storm roll through the area, and it was quite crazy. We were without power here in Fayetteville from Tuesday at noon [i was trolling hybrid and it just died in front of me ] and didn't get it back until this Sunday morning. The ice was so thick I couldnt get into the Z for 3 days. This is TrumpetRhapsody's camera, btw. Jeffer as soon as i saw my car I thought of your sig so i had to do this
  8. How are you pressurizing the tank? I believe it is supposed to be vented, not pressurized. From the FSM: http://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/explodedviews/280z/77fsm/fuel%20tank.gif
  9. I was driving home the other day and noticed a slightly lower oil pressure, checked my levels when I arrived and everything was ok. I came outside a couple of hours later to head over to a friends, the oil pressure came up then dropped to Zero. I popped the hood, got out, and the connector had come of the sending unit. Maybe check to see if its loose?
  10. My guess is a rear wheel bearing. I had just finished my front suspension, drove the car and it started making a terrible noise. It went a away and came back a few times, took the wheel off and my inner bearing was destroyed. [i had been driving on the bad bearing for a while apparently] Unfortunately I don't think the rears are as easy to check and install as the fronts, so hopefully its not that.
  11. Yeah the Bimmer is hard to tell from all the gloss, but I think the colour behind it looks nice. Challenger, I have seen pictures of your car and I think it looks great, but it is a little on the dark side for me. I am looking for the bright and shiny in the sun, dark at night colour. I also parked by a Honda today that looked just like this. Too many choices!! http://www.leasetrader.com/photos/actual110999/640x480/Honda-Accord-EX-Coupe.jpeg
  12. Eh this was before I put the new long block in and painted the bay, but this is my setup with the freshly shaved intake.
  13. I am planning on painting my car this summer, after I get done with the turbo and have some free time. I have been looking at the Ford and BMW 'graphite,' and can't decide which one to go with. I don't want a silver car, or a really dark grey. Kind of like Mikelly's colour, but not quite. I really like how this car turned out, http://jalopnik.com/photogallery/modernzire/1004150870 but was hoping for a little more of a metallic silver undertone like this: http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3013/2351429879_d972c247ee.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.autodetailed.com/blog/%3Fp%3D134&usg=__ENBCVwiDX3aBVB7UG-NeaAOflEA=&h=334&w=500&sz=130&hl=en&start=9&um=1&tbnid=mjpYYIbIZXcg5M:&tbnh=87&tbnw=130&prev=/images%3Fq%3DBMW%2Bgraphite%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den I can't really tell if it's the lighting or the paint that makes it look more metallic. I like this colour but once again it's a little dull for my taste, but that could once again be the lighting. http://www.bmw-e87.com/AW/040.jpg I don't really care about objectivity, throw out whatever opinion you have about either colour. Thanks!
  14. Yep. This is what my car is doing. I know what I'm doing this weekend...
  15. This is super thread highjacking, sorry Daeron - I have early 260 bumpers on my 280 [look at my sig], the brackets are shorter than the 280s but bolt right onto the 280 location. The bar is pretty light, If you are worried about crash protection stay with the 280 big nasty bumpers. Back to the thread: The car looks kind of nasty outside but do you know if it runs or not? It might be a fun project to learn off of if it won't cost too much to get it back on the road...
  16. Are you guys running the stock valence? My car felt 'floaty' on the interstate at anywhere 80+ with the stock valence and bumper on. Kind of scary, really. I put the MSA type 1 [with brake cooling ducts] on and the car felt much more planted at speed. I didnt do ball joints or other suspension work for a while after that so i know that wasnt my problem. Sounds dumb but i'd thought Id throw it out there
  17. Uh... First off - there is a troubleshoot section A turbo motor needs a crank angle sensor - your motor has it on the balancer, you need an 81 Turbo ECU and AFM. These are all very neccessary. Use the search button its over there on the top in the blue strip --->
  18. I see you're in Baton Rouge... Have you hooked up with the Z group yet? They have a lot of knowledge and advice on things like this... PM Forest and see when the next meeting is. They usually meet at George's off Staring and Highland on a Sunday once a month. Good luck with your car
  19. My list 1. G35 - Its classy, RWD and the VQ sounds soo good in it. 2. 3-Series/M3 still classy, but fun. Almost tied for first 3. Red Line Skye? I've been thinking about one for a DD when I get out of school. Probably good on gas and looks cool. And they'll be cheap after GM tanks
  20. Click on Challenger's sig link!!! [btw Challenger it's awesome - good job ]
  21. Nice MS Paint work Josh you need to get an outside hobby.
  22. I looked around casually for about a year before I got mine. Its on the rusty side but I drove it home. You'll find one... take your time. If you need inspiration, search for g9m3c. I still am in awe he got that car for $600.
  23. I would definately not pay $500 for that car. You could use the parts from the 2+2 that are damaged on the silver car, but if the outside is that rusty theres no telling how much there is inside. If you really are willing to drive 5-6 hours away, I see 'decent' Zs for a couple of hundred dollars with running motors in them in Oklahoma City on Craigslist. Maybe get some pictures of common rust areas. Check under the hatch, the floor pans [passenger is usually more rusty], The doglegs [the area after the door and in front of the back wheel at the bottom] and battery tray. Those are the most common spots. *edit* Dang it Challenger you beat me
