    Car is fixed!

    Beautiful, nice job!
  2. Steve, I agree! I've been wanting to reinforce that area, thanks for the lead on Bad Dog. The bushings are nice and greased up.
  3. Nice job Bill! It's been a while since I've seen your Z. Suspension is looking beautiful. Steve, thanks for the info! I have big bars installed and need to check the frame rails for reinforcement. I've also noticed that if you lower the car too much or hit a big enough bump, the bar bottoms out on the frame rail causing all sorts of bad binding issues that can lead to cracking the mounts. Your Z looks great, I love that lime green! Jim, looks like I probably won't make JCCS. High school reunion falls on the same day...
  4. Thanks for your support, Steve! Even if you don't live close by, you definitely help motivate. Glad to hear about your project going well! What was the solution to the ARB mount in the frame rail? Any photos of your Z?
  5. Hi Steve, same update as the one above... I did get a bit reinvigorated this weekend after tuning a buddy's Rebello stroker. The problem is that I work on cars all day and then have other cars at home that seem to take priority over the Z. I'm not making time to work on it. With that said, I'm almost caught up so soon it will be Z time once again! How are you liking your Bilsteins so far?
  6. This would be a pretty cool and unique swap if you can pull it off!
  7. "Honey, let's go to Long Beach for your birthday!"
  8. Wow, sounds like you've got some good projects going there! Major bummer about the crank. I had a crank-trigger ignition setup in my previous Z, running Megajolt and Ford EDIS. It definitely worked very well and was very stable. Hope to see you at JCCS!
  9. Jim, there is an allowance in the FSM for bushing play in the distributor drive shaft. There may also be checks for the gear drive but I'm not certain.
  10. Your Z is looking more and more immaculate by the day! I'm super glad and impressed with how much time and effort you've put into it to clean it up. Which Cars and Coffee are you going to? I'm looking forward to seeing all your hard work in person.
  11. I had an amusing solution for a turbo Miata that had boost control issues, once I pulled the downpipe I noticed that the turbo-to-downpipe gasket completely blocked off the wastegate door! Your gasket doesn't block the door from opening, does it?
  12. Are you sure your downpipe is allowing full range of motion of the wastegate door? Remove the wastegate actuator arm from the wastegate and try to move it by hand. If you're not sure how much it's supposed to move, remove the downpipe and perform the same check. I've seen this happen more than once...
  13. The radiator is actually a 2 row! I never had an issue but I sold the car last year and the new owner installed an e-fan.

  15. I've used my in-law's 2000 V6 4Runner without a problem. No issues towing the Z 230mi from SLO to SF. They've towed camping trailers behind it many a time.
  16. Nice work! Sounds like you did a great job of prepping it!
  17. No reliefs, 270* duration. P90 shaved 2mm with 0.020" over flat-tops, no modifications to pistons. Torquey as hell. I checked valve-to-piston clearance and remember it being close but acceptable.
  18. I run a .540" lift cam on stock flat-tops, FWIW...
  19. I've seen them in a Z but don't remember whose it was. They're small but comfortable if you fit in them.
  20. Nice Steve! I'm still at the rocker arm wipe check portion but working on it.
  21. Fixed it for you. I'm making slow progress on the Z but as soon as it's back no the road, those brakes are going on!
  22. Smaller venturis give a stronger vacuum signal. The mains will kick on sooner and thus help with throttle transition/hesitation issues. With the right jetting, you should be able to make bigger venturis (36-38mm) work just fine though.
