  1. or you can buy the socuniversal socket retractor tool at autozone for $5, or you can just use a pair of needle nose pliers and use them to turn the piston in
  2. ok so I had my Z31 running great using the magnus code, found that my cold start was way out sue to incorrect thermal values, when I went to to correct this I accidentally selected the wrong code ware version in easytherm, so I decided to start from scratch since my old laptop was having issues and I have a newer one that'll support the newest Megatune build, I set up to run the msns 29y4 got the thing fired up and running decetn but just can not rev past 4k rpm, I'v tried advancing and retarding trigger and VE timing, I've tried increasing and decreasing VE bins on my fuel maps but jhust getting no love, what am I missing? I think I turned all the warmup stuff off and when I ty loading the correct values in easy term I get the boot error, I've shutdown megatune completely and done everythign I knwo buit still get the error? any advise? I gotta figure out hw tp post my mSG for you guys to look at
  3. thats different, I'd like to see the back of your crank pulley, seems everyone else mounts their 63-1 wheel on the front of the fulley and I see you went to the back which is what I am about to do, any additional pic's of it?
  4. I'm not questioning which is stronger, I'm just saying that the F54 is strong enough for most us
  5. the F54 vs N42 block goes way back, bottom line either can be built to handle lots of power, the F54 is only divided between the 2-3 and 4-5, every pair of cylinders is saimeased together, the F54 used to be thought of as superior and was the exclusive choice of high HP builds but in the past few years the N42 has gained favor, over they years both have been built sucessfully to power levels beyond what most of us will ever see
  6. any chance you could just sell me the bushings? or perhaps even sell me a set prebushed L24 9m rods? it's kinda a hold up at this point
  7. I'm using L24 9mm rods, with the L28 crank, the rods are pressfit stock so they don't have bushings right? when I ordered my weisco's I specified a 21mm floating pin, I assume that the stock opening would need to be milled to accept these in free float? and didn't notice any bushings did I screw up? should I have ordered smaller or larger pins to allow for a standard bushing? can I order bushing stock somehwere? I am kinda regretting my choice in shop, while they are experienced with forign engines, even the L6 they don't seem to have a clue about custom work
  8. the 350Z ciomes with no vents in the hood, and the aftermarket ones look, well, if thats your bag I guess have at, and the only way to get rid of the bulge int he S30 hood is to swap in a shorter motor, it's kinda needed to clear the L6
  9. so I'm in the process of building a long rod L30, I got custome pistons and floating wrist pins form wiesco, my machine shop recomends overboring the rod end and inserting a buching that will then be machined to fit the pin, they say this si the way OE's do it, but he can't find a buching to fit? anyone else use buchings? which ones? this a bunch of crap to add to my machining bill?
  10. looks a bit like a halfbreed with an S2K
  11. in my case it cost me a race and I'm a points chaser so it matters
  12. if you plan to make so much power that the MSD pump alone can't keep up then the stock pump and plumbing is going to be a restriction, assuming you're running the same MSD pump that I am which will support over 600 hp IIRC, and if you were to run them paralell wouldn't it still make more sence to trigger them both in the same way?
  13. why do you have 2 fuel pumps? and what is triggering the stock pump if it's not wired to MS and there is no stock MAF and ECU?
  14. sure didn't seem quick, I think it's time I upgrade to extra code to I can use the newer megatune build and my newer laptop, fighting with the ancient computer made things worse
  15. sounds like the problem might bewith your right foot, I assume you ca is a turbo to get such bad milage, stay out of boost and yout fuel consumption will go down, you can also run smaller lighter wheels with narrow tires, keep top speeds under 55 mph and try keeping the revs under 3k in any given gear, and druise the interstate as much as possible, as for RHD, I think it's playred out and retarded but all you gotta do issource a JDM front cut, it'll have all the RHD parts and will liely cost as much as a complete Z31
  16. azc makes their living shipping parts, whereever you got the idea they wouldn't is way off base, that being said, the azc unit hangs kinda low on the early s30 chassis and I don't care for the fit of the hoses they recmend, I went back to stock I was so unhappy with the azc unit, it's also thicker than stock which leaves even less clearance for an electric fan, which is already tight in the s30, if you can I highly recoment sticking whith the mechanical fan
  17. ibelieve the top mounting holes will line up but I know the hump mounts are different and maybe the lower end mounts? also the dash is different where it meants the console so you'd have to swap consoles as well, and the guages mount differently
  18. shouldn't this be in the classifieds? and a pic is worth a thousand words
  19. problem solved, sleep deprevation makes the obvious excape me, I never got those therm values updated so the cold start enrichments were flooding the engine, I disabled the enrichments and not running like a champ
  20. so I've been running pretty much moby's setup on my Z31 with corrected variables to fit the V6 and a few minor tweeks to the VE tables, the car ran great just a bit rich, as a matter of fact it dyno's 315 whp and 416 lbft TQ just a few weeks ago, I just noticed I had the incorrect setting in easy therm, I went to upload new settings and selected the wrong code version, wiped out my ecu and I couldn't find my backup after downloading and reconfigurings everything, the car will run but super pig rich, as a matter of fact it will flood itself out and die, unless I unplug the fuel pump in which case it'll idle forever, just can't rev without fuel pressure, I've verified my static fuel pressure is about 35 psi and with the pump off it's zero, if I pinch the feel line or unplug the injectors it dies so it appears the injectors will run fine with low to no pressure and in this case is siphoning the fuel from the tank? I set this thing up years ago and my memory isn't the greatest, am I missing something where I tell MSnS what the static pressure is? the req fuel comes up to 8.0, what am I missing here? addl info: 87 300ZXT T3O4B 420cc injectors FMIC Megasquirt v2.2 MegasquirtnSpark v3.0 HEI module 240SX TB and TPS remote Map sensor no O2 sensor freeflowing intake and exhaust otherwise completely stock
  21. yes mine are thicker than 3/4, can't remember off hand was ether 1" or 1-1/4", my master is currently the zx 15/16 unit, I plan on staying with it for the time being, next fall I plan on a dual master and eliminating the booster, one thing at a time
  22. wow looks like the dynalites are a lot thinner bodies, would have been a better choice but that ship has sailed, of course new calipers and brackets might be cheaper than new wheel centers and I currently have the outlar 2800's up front, just not enough clamping for the big wheels
  23. I know your next responce was more on point but just wanted to point about that all 70-96 Z's use the same imput shaft splining, I guess I can't confirm all, but 70,78,83T 85na, 87T, and 91TT are allt he same, so I assume all the others are as well, oh and the 240sx
