  1. interesting, took me a minuste to figure out the furl pump and timing chain ports had been filled and smoothed, nice
  2. they are completely interchangable, I've heard that the auto ecu did something er other better I had both in my car and noticed no difference but I'm not a drag racer
  3. the z31 auapension is a very sililar design to the S130 design, it might bolt up except for the rear springs, I'm just not sure it would be worth the effort, there are easier ways t get 5 lugs
  4. the 4 wheels disks didn't arive till 90 and 91 i beleive, as for wether it's an "SI" the HF also had multipoint injections but the "HF" (High Fuel) lacked a rear sway bar, and the interior in general was cheaper and has less insulation, smaller gas tank no sunroof, all the SI models came with factory sunroof and I thougth they were all manuals as well the auto trannies aren't known for their abulity to handle loads of power (I'd stay away from turbo if you want to save the auto trans) I've seen the stock internals put 250 whp so you have plenty of room to mod before the engine becomes the weak link) the fuel injectors are rather limited, thats why you see all the afpr's on lightly modified cars (that and it's a cheap easy part to upgrade) as for the ZC it is a good inexpensive swap, I put a browntop zc into my 87 si and hit it with the nitrous till it popped (an 80 shot without any timing retard was the breaking point (lesson learned)) the b series is a huge pain and requires a trans swap as well as halfshafts and ecu and wiring changes, the ZC only requires slight wiring changes and the ecu is optional but does allow for a higher redline
  5. I am running the pallnet rail as well, fits and works perfectly! and he offers then in 2 different bores to allow for more injector choices

    Hey evildky

well, my current best is running rich and in desperate need of truning, junkyard motor/turbo, megasquirt'n'spark, dsm injectors, ebay intercooler, 15 psi, no air filter, 2.5 crush bent exhaust on the stock downpipe and was on drag slicks the cars weighs about 2350 with me in it prior best et was 13.010 on DR's with strock ijection and no I/C and only 9psi with a trap of 107.75, the 12 sec pass was at 106!? I guess the larger diameter slicks helped me out of the hole but slowed my acceleration!?
  7. thaggard had a twin turbo custom set up, I believe there are pic's floating around here and on his site, and the rb is only 2.6 liters and the 2.8 is well 2.8, untill you overbore and stroke it! so the stock RB twins should be a decent fit with a custom manifold
  8. the 240sx does not have the same offset! the sx uses a high positive offset the z uses a zero or a very low positive depending on wheel width, keep your eyes on the classifieds here and at other z sites and keep an eye on ebay and you'll find plenty of inexpensive options
  9. I'd offer $100, they are rough and not that rare and desirable, your gonna have to blast/strip and paint/polish/powdercoat them, I wouldn't go over $200 for a set of wheen in need of total rehab
  10. well seeing as the pic clearly shows the "N42" it is at the very least a 2.8 block

    Header?

the header by itself isn't gonna net much power but they are pretty affordable and weigh less than the stock manifolds and look a lot etter, and if you keep with the same style head in the future you can carry the header over
  12. we have a local guy running dometop pistons, and shaved P90, mild cam and untuned ebay webbers that just dyno'd 170whp (mustang dyno) with about 11:1 on 93 octane pump gas
  13. just download the L series engine calculator and start playing, there is really no reason to keep the L24 when the L28's are soo readilly available, there is no replacement for displacement and for any dorks that think a turbo is a replacement try turboing the larger displacement motor.....
  14. TIRES! (this side fo the drink it's spelled with an "I") yes R compound or a good STS tire will take more off your times than any other mod, seat time might have it beat but not by much
  15. beware seats with the shoulder wings, I currently have forza's and the wings rub the door but I sit pretty far up as I am short, it looks like it would have a bit more room forther back but with interior it might still rub, I know some people mount the seats offset but that just bugs the crap out of me
  16. with the key in the run postiion if you pull the dist and turn it by hand you should be able to hear the injectors and injector relay click, and you should be able to get a spark from the ciol, if not then either your not getting power somewhere or your dist, or ignitor or ecu is bad, most likely it's a wiring issue, unfortunately you need an analog multimeter or a smart probe to detect the low volt square wave signal that the injectors and ignitor should be getting
  17. sounds to be exactly the same as the KA Swap and I'm using a latemodel from a twin cam, it was given to me
  18. mine is actually inside the relayboard box
  19. where the power peaks isn't the problem the problem, the engine wasn't wanting to rev past 5k, it just really had no power up there, I was just wanting to go with a mechanical head as popular opinion around here is that you have to if you want to rev past 6500, and the N42 is about as hard to find around here, I know where I can get an E31 today, or maybe I just need to hold out for the N42?
  20. ok so I wetn to the dyno yesterday and the results were less than impressive more to come on the details, but the power really dropped off 5000 rpm, I am currently running a stock junkyard turbo motor P90A and all, I've heard around here that the N42 with mechanical lifters is the way to go, but I can get ahold of an E31 cheap and go to oversized valves and internaly lubricateded cam towers, any thoughts on doing this? with an .020 overbore, dished pistons and 2mm headgasket it yeids an 8.11:1 ratio which I would think is plenty safe?
  21. the advantage of the forza is that it has the provision for the anti-submarine belt, I am running a peak 5 point harness, if you got a forza I can only assume you intend to race as they kinda suck on the street, and if your gonna race the harness is more helpfull than you can know
  22. I and a lot of others run 15x7 zero offset with stock suspension and my 225/50r15 V710's clear the suspensiona dn body just fine, I'd say it's the +4 that caused you to rub
  23. 84-85 n/a had 4 lug, 86-89 na and all turbo's had 5 lug
