no-one has tried the GTS 2?
-
a local bud has similar pistons but the "dome" is more centered, I think he said they were Nissan Motorsport high comp racing pistons, similar but different
-
I think this is what I want for my 240z, anyone tried them? kinda expensive but if I am gonna spend my time in the seat it'll be worth it, looks like they should fit easily and my forza's just aren't right for me, I'l like an adjustable back

240 280 front strut insert differences
evildky replied to rags's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
well I have a 240, I started with a 280 and got the koni's and ST springs, then I got the 240 and swapped the entire strut housings onto the 240, made it ride high, I swapped in the 240's upper mount to bring it down a touch but still not enough, so I located the koni's and ST springs for the 240 cleaned up the housings and took the 280 struts off and swapped in the OE strut housings with the Koni/ST parts and the thing is on the ground now -
stock car style wheels.... help
evildky replied to a topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
circle racing and diamond racing both make about any size/offset you want in the steelies, and one of them is cheap can't remember which, a local guy runs a set on his bsp 240z -
well I am running the 240sx 5 speed, ratios are pretty close to stock but with a short shifter and cutting it down a coupla inches it's too short of a throw, you can however use the zx 5 speed and get a short shifter and have a very tight lil shift patern

I remember a good year or so ago a guy (I have no idea what his name was) built a chassis from 2x3 boxed steel at the propper wheels base and width for a 240 then put corvette C4 IRS and IFF on it, somehow he cut the pans out of the datsun and attached it to the new chassis and added some rather large flares to cover the corvette stock track width, it was really cool and I have no idea if the guy actually finnished it but at least it's an idea, dig deap into the search you never know what you'll find

Difference with new urethane bushings?
evildky replied to patzky1's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
I replaced all mine on my 240z and I gotta tell you mine wern't in horrible shape but definitely showed their age, mine does not see much street but I couldn't tell a difference autocrossing where you think it would have been more obvious but, it's much cheaper than buying all new stockers -
240 280 front strut insert differences
evildky replied to rags's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
btw both are totally stock pieces but with koni adjustables and ST springs on both, the red ones I blasted and powdercoated (they were brown) -
240 280 front strut insert differences
evildky replied to rags's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
the one to the left is from a 280z which I had on my 240, the one to the right is an actual 240z unit, the 280z unit does have the 240z's upper strut isolator on it and they do not appear very different at first glance but it lowered my ride height about a 2 inch front and 4 inch rear the mounting points on the 280 chassis are higher and they use taller upper strut isolator mounts -
well, the AR retro slots seem pretty cool but not yet released and we can only assume they will come in our fitment as nothing they currently offer from any of their 5 wheel brands will fit, auxilary, I totally dig your ronals, just what I am looking for but it looks like they have been discontinued and now offered only in 17" diameters anyone else running a 15x7 stock bolt circle/offset
-
ok I talked myself out of doing the 5 lug conversion, but I gotta get some 15x7 wheels for next year, I don't want steelies! so anyone running a 15x7 with stock bolt circle and offset "put em on the glass" if possible post a pic, where you got them, how much they cost and weight if you have any idea the pannasports are nice but pricey, same for revolutions, centerlines don't offer any styles that I find to be just right for my z and they are a bit heavy
-
just noticed your tag line, that seems a bit slow for your mods, you make that pass with sandbags in the hatch? not trying to bust your balls but my 240 ran 13.6 with a gutted interion and stock everything but the fpr and boost controller, I know the 240 is a bit lighter but we're talking about 1.5 seconds faster in a car with less mods
-
you can also remove the spring and spacer assemblies and cut the throttle stalk down and bit and tethread it, that's what I did but I'm flipping mine, just gotta find a cable to reach without too much slack now
-
This Damn 240, now I'm having more starter problems!!!
evildky replied to a topic in Nissan L6 Forum
the gear reduction unit is a must for any Z in my opinion, just get a stock replacement for an 80 280ZX (stock gear recuction unit), cost should be about the same and the parts monkeys won't know the difference in the cores and it's easy enough to change, I save them from parts cars, nice to have spares handy -
save you cash and keep and eye out for a wrecked 82-83 280ZXT, I've picked up 2 of them at $350 each, the stock L28ET with a boost controller and afpr got my 240 to a 13.6 ET with everything else stock at about 8psi, aslo keep in mind if you buy a whole car you can sell the unused parts on ebay, and if the car isn't a total waste you could come out even money if not ahead
-
I have never seen and L20ET but I'd guess it's about the same as the L28ET, which is a pain in the arse, you gotta have the right length extension and patience and you gotta feel the thing arouns to get it on the intake bolts, it's a slow tedious process and assembly is about as bad, it helps if you can just pull the motor
-
well if you got the stock head the carb intake won't bolt up. the 77 would have had an N47 head which has the fuel injection only holes if memory serves, the P90, N42, E88 and E'31 all accect the carb intake, the quirky EFI can be a trick but so can the quirky SU's, I got tired of fighting the SU's and went to an L28ET got tired of fighting that stock EFI (actually it didn't give me any trouble minus the distributor giving up the ghost) and now I'm tuning out my Megasquirt n Spark, no matter what you run you or someone will have issues with it it's best to find whatever makes you comfortable

I was really wanting to do the one piece AZC fiberglass front end but after some searching I found the idea to be less then desirable and I don't care for the "boxed" flares either, so I am now thinking of making my own hood that will encoumpass the cowl panel as well as the access doors over the battery and master cylinder, and to then mould blank buckets to fiberglass fenders just to get rid of some of the many breaks in the bodypanels I have very little experience with fibergalss but have seen some very impressive work done by people who learned as they built, so what's the best tips and tricks, and the best place to get large quantities of matt and epoxy? and or got a really good reason I should not try this?
-
so how many other turbo guys are going to SEZ? last time I went (without my car) it was dominated with the 3.1T guys, just wondering how many L28ET guys are gonn go?
-
I didn't check the actual offset but they advertized 4" backspace, but in a 16 vs and 17 will they fit ? I soo want a set of torque thrusts
-
ok, I am planning on doing the 5 lug conversion and I am looking at a set of 16 x 8 Torque thrust wheels, they have a 4 inch backspace, will this fit my 71 without coil overs? I am putting off the coil overs till later just the 5 lug and big brakes is gonna kill me
-
I had the same kind of problem with att the usual suggestion coming from the baord that your seeing here, it sounds like a fuel issue, mine was my pump failing intermitantly, which no-one suggested I guess it's a bit unusual, replaced the pump and the problem went away, and we've all been there in one form or another, I understand your frustrated but we're only trying to help so be gentle
-
so how much boost and a flattop p90 combo handle? with stock internals of course, I am oputting one of these together and have been feeling a lille worried about popping it, can it handle 10psi with intercooling or can it take even more than that ? I am hoping to get thsi thing up to 350-400rwhp will that combo hold up to it?

Does anyone Know about this car Turbo/ Triple Webers?
evildky replied to SHO-Z's topic in Turbo / Supercharger
No Most S30/S130 guys are' date=' never met many Z31 people, Z32 people I've met tend to have attitudes more often than not though Tony - you got me beat... I averaged 13mpgs on my SU'ed motor, mostly street driven, but running great with rebuilt Ztherapy carbs, dyno tuned.[/quote'] really!? I started with a Z31 and always felt like the bastard Z child, everyone wanted an S30 or a Z32 and not many cared about the old Z31, in our local Z Club we have serious gearheards owning Z31's and Z32's no atitude that I've seen, I suppose there are a lot of Z32-Z33 owners that have what they feel is the ultimate car with no care for where it came from, but I have mets some great guys with the newer cars
