  1. the Z31 swap comes with it's own set of problems just do a search and you'll find all the info (good and bad), I only know one person running the e-manage, and yes it is in fact a piggyback, and they are having problems with it, and yes the greddy will limit your options, if your comfortable building a tuning your own car MSnS is an excellent choice, if you'd rather pay someone else to build and tune your car go greddy
  2. also make sure that same 12 constant hot is going to your HEI module, I had a similar problem when I hooked mine up, the hot wasn't hot during cranking, also iI have found the parts store hei modules to have very short lives, been running a flamethrower for months without issue
  3. the 280 fusebox is a part of the main harness, the 240's were easily removed with a coupla pigs but the 280 is gonna make your brain hurt
  4. looks like the MSA type 3 air dam, on a 280Z with generic msa sideskirts and whatever they call that spoiler
  5. I'd take one at $100 any more than that and i'd run the stock cover
  6. lots of people here have done the frame rails, you can get them premade or make your own, as for the zx I don't think using it's frame rails would be worth the effort and the premade ones are pretty cheap, I'd be interested to see your z sometime what part of town you live in?

    R200 VLSD swap?

the carier inside the housing, which is the actual LSD unit can be removed bolt your gears to it and place it into the Z's long snout R200 housing, you'll then need to convert to the VLSD CV halfshafts to fully engage the LSD, I however chopped a 1/4" off one of my stock outpu stub shafts and am still running the stock U-joint axles, that being said I thought the Q used an R230?
  8. no need to be a skeptic, this offer was published in GRM, of course this is after I got wheels speaking of GRM, look for my car in the coming august issues challange coverage 10th place
  9. dare I ask how much a setup like that cost? looks awesome, and I need an upgrade but I got a feeling that one is out of my price range
  10. flywheels and clutch assy's for all 240z, 260z 280z and 280zxN/A 2 seaters are the same save for pressure plate and throwout collar length, the 280zxt and the 79-83 2+2's all used the larger setup
  11. I also have a 71 first series, hatch vents, reversed master cylinder and all the other wierd stuff
  12. OMG thats such a sexy dime! I considered doing the same thing with my N42 intake, but as yet my tig skils aren't up to putting it back together
  13. looks like Viscous LSD shafts wither from the 88ss (Z31) or a 240sx SE and the Z31 shafts came in either a 4 or 6 bolt set up, one was turbo and the other was N/A can't remember which was whioch and there is no guarentee taht the 88ss matched the standard turbo models as it came with the viscous while the standard turbo 88 model came with the clutch type lsd
  14. 71 240z (early) 83turbo motor 240sx 5 speed fiberglass fenders fiberglass quarters laid over the rusty quarters no interior (just a seat and a dash) old school 14x6 webs R200 Koni's and ST springs with MSA front and rear bars sump'd gas tank 2180 with about half a tank of gas and no driver weighed at the last SEZ
  15. check the CHTS, also if you plan on running larger injecotrs with the stock managment system you have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and guage right? if not get one if so turn the pressure down, look for leaks in your intake tract from the maf to the throttle, check the many fitting and piping on the intake, most likely the problem is staring you in the face you just gotta stare at it till you see it at least thats how most of the problems found me, also be weary of the stock fucl pump if your using it, it took me a while to diagnose mine was shutting down under boost
  16. I havn't got an intercooler yet and at 13psi my intake temp tops off around 230.man I need an I/C
  17. I get nervous when someones first post is to sell something
  18. I have rethreaded no fewer than 3 stock shifters to use screw on aftermarket shift knobs, I never found a universal that seems like it attached well enough and didn't look like it fell out of a honda
  19. I hd a similar issus with my Z31 years back I thought my rebuilt rack had diead way to quickly, closer inspection revealed taht one of the U-Joints in the steering column had kinda siezed, so every half rotation it got real tight then would free up again, picked up a better shaft at a junkyard and worked great till I had to get rid of the car
  20. I am gonna guess pin height on the z31 casues an issue? I truely have no idea, but the wiesco's from summit are only like $369 not sure of the bore/dish but thye have them
  21. ALL THE MOUNTS ARE THE SAME! the only differences are little bits of bracing and the captured nuts, but are ALL COMPLETELY INTERCHANGABLE! as for the jtr swap if it isn't the same for the zx it's due to the steering column/rack and or crossmsmber in relation to the SBC/oilpan
  22. both turbo cars I bought came with the old datsun blue motors
