Yeah Im running -6AN supply and return lines. I also had -6AN fittings welded into the back of the fuel rails so I could run my lines right from the areomotive adjustable regulator and back down to the return line.(i'll get pics tonight for ya!) Your fuel pressure should have jumped up about 10psi with the vaccum hose off the regulator. I also agree your fuel pressure is way to low. I run mine at 45psi(if I remember right...).

I had some kid in a old Jetta do that to me just the other day when I was taking a buddy for a ride. He roles up next to me at a stop light and says "man your car is sick as ♥♥♥♥"(his words). I just smiled and said thanks! LOL I seriously can't take my car anywhere without someone saying something nice about it! Really makes all the hard work worth it. Of course it's always nice when an older person says..."man I used to have one of those, sure brings back memories!" These cars really do have a look about them that just makes people do a double take! Guy

Car looks and sounds great Clive! Looks like your the one who should have been racing that other car! Guy

I bought the same ones form black dragon. They do not attach the same way as the old factory ones. If you have the ones I bought they should have come on a strip with 2 sided tape to hold it onto the windshield. What I did was put the strip of clips on the trim piece. Clean the windshield and rub it down with alcohol. Then put the trim piece on. Trying to attach the trim after putting the clips on the glass is very hard, I tried it that way and it didnt work. If you screw up like I did you can get some new 2 sided tape and replace the stuff that they came with. Get the good 3M stuff though. Guy

I think I actually answered this in another thread but I will in this thread too. My problem end up being a couple of things... 1. the previous owner of the engine harness had the left and right bank o2 sensors crossed so the left bank was controling the right bank and vise versa. 2. the IAC valve was not wired correctly for my 1993 IAC vavle, the previous owner was running a 1996 IAC so I just had to swap a few wires around and the idle came right down where I wanted it too. 3. I also found that I didn't have enough a good enough engine ground which didnt really seem to effect the running of the engine but it made it hard to start sometimes. I ended up making to extra grounds straps out of wire from jumper cables(0 gauge). One is hooked from the framerail on the passenger side to one of the starter bolts and the other is hooked from the framerail to the drivers side engine mount. No starting problems since. 4. I did find a couple of spark plug wires that burned through even though I had those high temp covers on them. I have since rerouted the wires and haven't had a problem with them burning up. The engine is now running great and no issues to speak of! Guy

Well before you go changing anything I would get a fuel pressure gauge that reaches your windshield so you can monitor it while the symptom is present. I do it at work all the time. I just run the gauge under the hood(since the hood opens the other way on cars now) and wire it up with a coat hanger and some tape so I can see it easy and test drive it. If your pressure is dropping off while the problem is present I would say you have a pump problem and not a regulator problem. When your engine is running what is your fuel pressure? What is it with the vaccum hose off the regulator? It should go up when the vaccum hose is off. Usually you wont have a drivabilty concern when a regulator fails. You will just notice bad fuel milage and the smell of gas. I have seen wiring issues on cars come and go just like wheelman said too though. You could ohm out all your wiring but that wont tell you if you have bad wiring unless the wire is open when your checking it. It also wont tell you the condition of the wiring, you could have 1 strand out of 20 going to a sensor and it will ohm out just fine. Have you tried a "wiggle test" on the harness. Just move it around while its running to see if you can duplicate the rough running. If you can't find anything with the wiring or fuel I would look into finding a "new" PCM and load up your program into it. I used to have an extra one but I sold it, didn't think I was ever going to need it. I wish I still had it so that I could send it to you to test... Guy

Are you using the original Datsun wiring to the fuel pump? Maybe there is a large voltage drop from the wiring and when the pump heats up it draws more amperage? I would drive over to harbor freight and get a fuel gauge that you can run up to your windshield and monitor it while this is happening. Your not using the same pump as Tim was though are you? Hmmmmm... still not a bad idea to check the fuel pressure. Maybe its the regulator and not the pump like you said. Guy

That thing looks mean as all hell! I love it! Nice work! Guy

Do you have extra ground wires going from the engine to the body? Do you have anyway to monitor the fuel pressure while the stumble is happening? I really doubt it a compression issue just because the issue comes and goes. I would still check it just to be sure though. I would try to borrow a PCM from someone local and load up your program into it and see if it goes away. Either that or just buy another one and see if it goes away, if not just resell it on ebay. Please tell me he offered to pay to get it fixed or atleast submit it to his insurance company! That sucks man... Guy

Well on Friday afternoon I got my car all cleaned up and met up with my buddy Adam who has a recently restored 69' Camaro. We then proceeded to drive to downtown Appleton, WI(where I live) for probably one of the biggest car shows in our area all year(about 500 cars). The event is called "License to Cruise", which is part of October-fest. Basically the city closes downtown Appleton to traffic and it becomes one big party. The car show is actually on College Ave.(the main street running through downtown) and they line up the 500 cars on the road and people just walk up and down the street to look at the cars. There are no awards but a ton of old muscle cars and hot-rods show up. This year was a really nice turn out because it was about 70 degrees and not a cloud in the sky! First we had to get downtown to get in line for this event because it's first come first serve and when its full its full! So we got down there at about 2:00PM. They didn't start letting people on to the Ave. till 4:30PM, so we had to sit around for 2+ hours on some crappy side street that was all ripped up with road construction! Yeah I didn't understand that, put nice cars on the worst possible road and have them get all dusty?! Some guys were wiping their cars down before the show started but I figured why bother I have to drive 6-7 blocks before I get to the Ave., I'm just going to have to do it again when I finally get parked? So a little after 5:00PM we were parked and I proceed to wipe my car down. After that I popped the hood and the first thing out of my buddy Adam's mouth is "oh sure you big show off gotta pop the hood right away!" Me..."yeah that's right I gotta show off what I got!" Him..."hey that car wasn't made in America!" Me..."well the important parts were!" Now all of this was in good fun and we both laughed about it. Right away my car started to get a lot of attention. Number one I was the only Datsun there. Number two, I think word traveled fast about my conversion because all night there was at least 6 people around my car's engine bay just starring at it with a baffled look on their faces. My buddy was nice enough to stand near the front of the car and pretend like he was looking at it too and told me what everyone was saying. He said he got a lot of "holy crap, no way!"...."I can't believe that fits"....."what the...." ....:jesus %%#$#!" To say the very least it was very entertaining. The best thing I heard all night though was when an older couple, probably in their mid-80's, were talking....Her..."what kind of car is this?"...Him..."I don't know"....Her as she's looking at my corvette fuel rail covers...."oh its a Corvette, see there" ROFLMAO! They walked way before I could tell them otherwise but it sure was funny! The best part of the all of it though was that my car got way more attention than the the Camaro's and Mustang's parked next to me! Even my buddy Adam was in a little shock at how much attention my car got compared to his 69' Camaro. There was probably 20 Camaro's like his there though.... The past five years of hard work paid off just after Friday nights experience! Now I just have to enter it in some other car shows to try to get some Trophies on the wall! LOL Guy

Ok so you had the same problem with... *the old heads and cam *old oxygen sensors *old intake set up *stock tune *new tune *old OPTI *new OPTI *stock MAF *new MAF Sounds like the PCM itself might be a problem. What kind of spark plugs are you running? Can you post a datalog again? Guy

I started scrubbing tonight. It's coming off pretty easily actually. I am just using soap and water with some scrubbing sponges. I used some engine degreaser too(the new gel kind made by Gunk) and it seemed to help. Tommorow I going to spray it down with some diluted armoral to make it all shiny for the car show I'm taking it to on Friday! Thanks guys! Guy

Well not having your upstream o2's on a fuel injected vehicle will deffinetly cause problems. I wouldnt' worry about any running issues just yet. Nice video too! Glad to see your on your way to burning some tires up! LOL Guy

Yeah I have pressure washed it but that seems to have only got about 85% of it off. I want the easy way out on this one if there is one! LOL Worst comes to worse I will get out the elbow grease! Guy

So what can I use to clean the primer/paint dust off my engine components that is caked on? It's not like the stuff was wet when it settled on the stuff but it doesnt seem to come off unless I wipe it off with a rag, which could take for ever! So what kind of cleaner have you guys used with good success for something like this? Guy

Which color centers for my new CCW Classics?!
80LS1T replied to a topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
POLISHED ALL THE WAY! I personally don't care for black wheels at all. But to each his own I guess. I think you have enough black on your car, the polished centers really make the car "pop". Guy -
I'm a Service Technican at Van Dyn Hoven Nissan in Appleton, Wisconsin. Why.......? Guy

That's what I want to know too! Sounds fishy.... Guy

So did the rescue works chop it up or did that all happen from the accident, cause man that looks horrible! I can't imagine anyone surviving that! Glad everyone was ok, especially the kids! Guy
