I am in the process of updating my fuel system and I am trying to figure out what I should do with the EVAP canister line that runs from the fuel tank all the way up to the engine bay. Now since obviously Im not running any emissions equipent this line is not needed and is only in the way. The question is though what should I do with it? Should I just block it off up at the tank or should I leave it open as a vent? Guy

What did you paint it with? And you have got to fix that fmic! LOL Guy

There is a post here in the "other engines" forum about a guy putting a Viper motor in a 240Z.........is that you? If so, post some more pics! Guy

How do you steal a shell and not have anyone see that? Was it a roller? God I cant stand hearing stories like this! Really gets my blood boiling! Guy PS sorry for your loss! Hope you find the people who did this!

155/80/13's! Do they even make those size tires anymore? Looks like a good $500 beater and gas milage should be pretty good! Guy

As long at the gasket isnt blown out anywhere you should be fine. This is pretty common on exhaust manifold bolts. Thats why locking bolts are recommended with headers. Since the exhaust manifold heats up and cools down so much I think thats why the bolts come loose. "Retorqueing"/ tightening them down is something that should be done every so often, say every oil change? Atleast this way you wont end up with a blown gasket and then have to take it all apart to fix it! I wouldnt put loctite on my bolts just due to the fact that exhaust bolts are usually pretty hard to remove as it is after a long period of time in use. They tend to get rusted in and get brittle after a long period of time and then when you want to get them out its no fun. Guy

Im not sure how much it weights? I only used 1/2 a gallon of it. I still have a lot left over. I think I might redo the underside of the car with it. The texture isnt as rough as I thought it was going to be but it will scrap knuckle if you rub against it too hard. Atleast my hands will heal, chipped paint wont! WIth the House of Kolor paint you cant really "touch" it up due to it being a candy color and not just a solid color. Guy

Trust me guys I know it looked good before. However I am kind of a function first then bling bling kind of guy, so this worked out great for me. I beleive you can get Rhinoliner in like 10 different colors. I think Herculiner also has different colors but most places only stock the black. I am like 90% sure white is avalible too. And of couse I will be posting photos of it once its back together and all painted up! Dont worry guys, it'll be alright! LOL Guy

Yeah I went ahead a coated my engine bay with bedliner. I am actually pretty happy with how it turned out. I completely removed everything from the engine bay. Then preped the paint by sanding it down with 100 grit and then proceded to roll on the Herculiner. It took 2 coats to cover about 90% of it and I had to use a spray on liner to get ito some of the cracks. I also used a very light coat of the spray on liner over all of it to make sure it all matched, which it does. All I know is, I have already wacked the liner pretty good and nothing happend as far as chipping or damaging it is concerned! I am really happy about that! After I got it all coated I decieded that I need to "highlight" some of the parts in the engine bay by painting them. So I choose a flat blue engine paint. I think it looks pretty cool actually! Im not sure what Im going to do to detail the engine yet but something must be done. I could polish all the alluminum pieces or I could paint them or do a combonation of both. I think I want to try and polish my intake to a mirror like finish and then go from there. This is what it looked like with the paint.... Bigger before pic of engine bay... This is what it looks like now.... After beliner treatment... I also cut out the battery tray since the battery is now in the old spare tirewell and I also cut off the old AFM mount. Then i moved all of the wiring, minus the wiper module, to the passenger inner fend and some is in the front frame rails. I wanted to really clean up the look of the engine bay and make it less cluttered. This is really going to help. The only wiring left that is really visable is the wiper module and once the engine is back in you will see that wiring on top of the engine and then it will go ito the firewall by the passenger framerail, where the computer is being relocated. So honestly what do you guys think? Guy

I thought I missed it too cause they had a show on 1 hour before but it never showed a Z.......so I clicked on the channel guide and saw that there was another episode on 1 hour later so I waited patently to see if this was the episode and sure enough it was! There sure were a lot of nice looking Z's in the video that was taken.....all except this weird looking purple one?...................J/K! Nice interview and way to show that V8Z's are a thing of beauty! Guy

Yeah they had to have been trying to smash that post. I bet from 50 yards away that looks just like a wooden post sticking up! LOL I dont feel bad for these kind of people. The funniest part is there is no way that their insurance is going to pay for that even if they did have it fully covered for the modifitcations due to it being "offroad"!LOL Guy

Hehe, I already edited my first post. Its on channel 232 on DirecTv for me. Thanks anyways! Guy

Ok I finally found out what channel you are refering too Tim. Last time someone(might have been you?) posted about watching someone on this channel I couldnt find it. But I just found it! So I'll be watching that tomorrow night! Thanks for the heads up! Guy

Let me be the first to tell you to upgrade your brakes, suspension and chassi before you go and put in a high performance motor. It sounds like you have some suspension issues to take car of for sure. A high power engine combined with a bad suspension = trouble! Same goes for brakes. The cahssi stiffening is only needed if you want your frame/body to stay straight. As far as a L28's power potential....how deep are your pockets? They better be really really deep if you want some power out of a 2.8L NA motor! Now if you go with a L28ET this is a different ball game. You could get 300HP pretty easy and it would be very streetable. Since your swappin a motor on a 280ZX there isnt as much info on mounts and basic swap info as there is for the Gen 1 S30's. Doesnt mean you cant do either one of those engine swaps, it just means there wont be step by step instructions for you to follow. You will have to fabricate and design your own mounts and trouble should clearance issues with out the knowledge of other peoples experice. However the people of Hybridz are more that knowledgable and more than willing to help you, just as long as you try searching the database first Guy P.S. Welcome aboard!

Help PCM no ground injectors-LT1
80LS1T replied to love-my-V8-280Z's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
What do you mean by "sheild"? I have that black wire loom stuff over all of the wiring? My PCM is currently being relocated to the inside of the car by the passenger side firewall area. The thick part of the wire loom that goes to the computer is covered actually with a sump pump hose that looks like regular wire loom covering but its just bigger. It is the only stuff that I could find that was big enough to cover that much wire. It's working out great and it doesnt look funny either, it just looks like regular wire loom covering. Guy -
Help PCM no ground injectors-LT1
80LS1T replied to love-my-V8-280Z's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Glad to hear you got it running! No the PCM doesnt know if there is coolant in the system. Obviously you dont want to run it very long with out coolant though because it will get hot really fast without coolant in the system. I would bet that your fuel pump is not staying on and just burning up that fuel that is supplied when you first turn the ket to the run position. You need to figure out why the pump doesnt stay on in the run position. I think it probably has to do with how you have your fuel pump wired to teh PCM. Did you ever try running a hot wire to the fuel pump to see if your engine would stay running? Guy -
Ah dont bail on that sweet LT1 turbo project! That thing sounds so sweet and this way you will have the V8 TQ and the turbo! Best of both worlds! It really depends if you want a ton of HP/TQ(LT1 turbo) or enough to beat most street cars(L28ET, not knocking the L28ET just saying there is more power potential with a LT1 turbo). Didnt you say you were estimating 540rwhp with the LT1 turbo? Yeah its excesive but can you image that on the highway! You would be eating Vipers for lunch! You wont do that with the L28ET. Plus you already have the stuff for the LT1 turbo project and I WANT A RIDE IT THAT BEAST WHEN YOUR DONE! Guy

Hey how much did you get that LS1 tank for? I would like to upgrade my fuel system sometime in the near future and having an intake fuel pump would be nice(I dont want to hear the pump whining all the time like all the aftermarket inline fuel pumps seem to do!) Guy

In my opinion Bush won this one. The first debate was close. I too cant stand the fact that Kerry wont stop saying "I have a plan..." If he does have a plan no one knows what it is! I also think he is very naive about just about every thing. He thinks that if he would have asked the UN to help us in Iraq they would have. I dont think it would have mattered at the time and now I dont think they will help if Kerry is elected president because he keeps on saying we went in alone even though we did have help from several nations. Sure it wasnt a full on assault like us but any help in my book is good help and should not be critcized! Bush 1-0-1 Kerry 0-1-1 Guy

Hey Mat.............."get'r dun" LOL So I assume your going to mount your gas tank like mas280/mike? If you want to get that running before snow flys your going to have to pick up the pace! LOL Guy

You just got the mounts yesterday and your already that far! Love the swap and keep the pics comming! Guy

I guess it was ment to be! Glad to hear you got it back now dont sell it again! Guy

Good news & bad news... PCM is fried!!!
80LS1T replied to KraZeeZX's topic in Gen III & IV Chevy V8Z Tech Board
I thought I would bring this to your attention since you seem to think that the "coolant explosion" is causing all your problems. The connectors that are in todays cars(including your LS1 harness and sensors) are made to with stand 24 hours in a completely submerged water evironment. The connectors off the old datsuns are not, they are not weather pack connectors like todays are. I really dont think this "coolant explosion" is causing all your problmes. Sure it probably didnt help but I know and the guy working on your car (should know)knows that coolant spraying on an engine will not get into those connectors. I degrease & hose down engines all the time at work and never once have I had a PCM fry or have electrical problems afterwards. Im just saying that maybe your harness is the problem and the guys that put your car together are the ones to be questioning. Guy
