  1. What ever happen to the V8 plan? Or am I thinking about someone else? That list looks doable over winter. All I want to do this winter is paint my damn car! Im just waiting for my brother to call and say "hey bring the car on up so we can paint it" Guy
  2. I like the "Ramone" wheels myself. Like the other guys said though......"wheels are really a personal choice" However there's nothing wrong with asking for some help picking out wheels so you dont pick out some really wierd looking wheels that wont look "good" on a Z! Guy
  3. How much was the LS2? Did he get it from a wrecked 05' Vette? Guy
  4. WOW that is one big friggin intercooler! Keep the pics coming! Guy
  5. Um yeah 5 minutes of "boosting" a battery isnt really doing much if anything for a stone dead battery. You will need to charge it up with a low amp charger(for best results) or buy a new battery. How old is the battery(does it have a date stamped on it or any kind of marking to show when it was installed?). If its over 3.5-4 years old just replace it because its probably on its way out anyways. Guy
  6. So it started the day you got it but now it wont start? Did you try starting it for a long time with a weak battery? Sounds like your on the right track with the "flooding" it theory. If it is flooded......then just hold the gas pedal to the floor and then try starting it. Or if its been sitting for like a day it might clear it self up(gas will just evaporate). If it still wont start you may have fouled out the plugs and they might need to be cleaned or changed.
  7. Yup with these quick lube places, its all about getting you in their doors. We used to have oil changes priced at $24.95 @ the dodge dealer I work at. Now who is going to pay $24.95 for an oil change when they can get it done down at Midas for $9.95? Now granted the MOPAR oil filter is way better than the Pennzoil oil filter but not $15.00 better! We now lowered our oil change price to $9.95 also but we also switched to a Pennzoil filter. We also still have a $16.95 oil change that you can get with a MOPAR filter. We are not making a single dime on those oil changes regaurdless of which one they get. A Pennzoil filter is $2, oil is $10, and labor to do it is "$18.95"(thats what .3 hours @ our GRID rate is at our shop) So no way no how are we making any money off those oil changes.........however if say we get your car into our stall I can gaurantee we will find something to "upsell" to you. There is always something leaking or something loose on your vehicle that could be repaired. Its just up to you if you want it repaired. Im not saying that if you bring a car in for an oil change your going to need something repaired but the dealership is banking on the fact that there is something tht needs fixing. Guy
  8. I heard today that they are now investigating a shooting that took place back in 01'(I think thats what year it was) during deer hunting season too. Apparently there was a group of 3 "asian" men spotted shortly after this other guy was shoot in the back 2 times. They think this might be the guy but they cant locate the other 2 guys or dont know who they might be? Now this guy is saying that the guy that confronted him shot at him first! Well if he did then there should be an empty shell/cartrige laying out there in the weeds! I really hope there isnt, it will just prove even more that this guy is nuts and needs to be locked up forever! Guy
  9. I could do it for ya but I need some kind of numbers for the heads to get a good estimate on the power. Are the aftermarket heads? Ok here's what I need........ *what kind of head are they(aftermarekt(what kind), stock with some porting, etc)... *what size valves are they...... *what kind of exhaust do you have.... *what kind of manafold do you have(single plan, dual plan, etc) *what size carb do you have..... *and I dont see a camshaft profile on my file list for the ZZ4 cam so I would need numbers for that too(as much info as possible) Guy
  10. I cant see why a spec wouldnt bolt up to that flywheel? The SPEC should have the same bolt pattern as the CF so it should bolt up just fine. I am also running KB pistons in my LT1 and so far so good. I dont have a lot of miles on my engine though since I rebuilt it. I have 175psi compression across the board though on a warm engine. I am running about 10.9-11:1 compression. Guy
  11. Ok note to self "if a Eclispe pulls up next to me and sounds like a airplane, dont race it!" Talk about nice fabrication too! Could you image what he could do with a 240Z and a LS1 with a turbo!? Guy
  12. From reading posts on LT1tech.com, I have come to conclusion that the spec stage 2/3 are the most commonly used with success. The CFDF is the most hated clutch set up because it is sooooooooo prone to chattering. Im not sure why though? I will say this, it did hold but then again I never had a chance to run it wil DR on either? This is a quote from the "Thunde Racing Website" I have seen these cluthes on EBAY for about $420(stage2)/$470(stage3) If you really are looking for a nice set up you could go with a McCloud twin disc for about $1100. I have priced out a BILLET flywheel for about $300 and a new clutch/PP set up for about $450ish. So I plan on spending about $800 for a new clutch set up. I have also thought about going with the McCloud set up but I havent read too much on them yet. If they are way less prone to chatter then I might go that way. I just cant stand the clutch chatter. Its one of my petpevs I guess? Either way, stay away from the CFDF or any CF for that matter! Guy
  13. I would stay away from the CFDF clutch! I had one in my car and the damn thing chattered like you wouldnt beleive!!!!! If your dead set on it be extremly gental with it for the recommended 500 mile break in period. I have heard this from more than one person about CFDF. I am planning on going with a SPEC stage 2 or 3 with a BILLET steel flywheel. From what I understand the BILLET steel flywheel will hold up a lot more than a stock one when used for drag racing. My car is not a full out race car by any means but I will see track time once done. Guy
  14. Ah good thing that other car fell through! Now you have a better car! Lower miles and more power, cant go wrong there! Guy
  15. Its time like this that I wish we had the death penalty!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think there should be special occasions were we could use the death penalty when the crime that was commited is so bad that no other punishment other than death would do!!! I hope this guy becomes some big fat guys bioch in jail!!! Guy
  16. Whooooowoooooooo now! A crankshaft journal is not something that you want to be touching up with emery cloth! A crankshaft journal that has scratches in it will either need to be turned down or if they are really really small scratches you might be able to just have it polished. In my opinion I would say as long as this is not a race motor the power that your putting out would be safe for the set up you have as long as your not beating on it all the time. But I would listen to some others guys who have more experice then me on this one. Guy
  17. I have the blue light covers in my car and I am using the Phantom series gauges. I think they look great at night with the blue light shinning behind them. I have a blue car and they go perfect with it! As for being able to see the numbers at night......I would give it a 7.5-8 out of 10 for visiblity. Guy
  18. So do you want to know if you can reuse the pistons, rods, and crank or do you want to know if you should go forged? I say if your not sprayin N20 then you should be fine with some Hypers, a slightly upgraded rod(say poweder metal rods, supposedly good to 450-500HP) and a cast crank. Now if you have scuff marks on your crank, are you sure its salvagable? Guy
  19. Ah man I really hope you get that car!! This really sucks big time! And what the hell is easier about dealing with a loacal guy when you will have a check in hand? Guy
  20. WOW I would say you got a deal alright! Nice find! Guy
  21. <--------------VERY JELOUS! Very nice car! I wan one only in tht nice tan/metalic color or in that limit orange color. Wouldnt really be a pratical daily driver here in WI due to the salt and snow in the winter Guy
  22. Yeah I say buy a decent set of wires and cut them to fit. Thats what I did. I had to do it though to rought the wires on the drivers side so they would fit over/around the custom header though. Its not that hard to do and they arent too expensive. I paid $49.00 for a set of "Taylor 8MM" wires and they are blue like my car! 8) Guy
  23. I have never heard of anyone trying to run their tack off of a PCM output on the old Datsun tach? You would think it would be possible? I mean if you can make the original tach read a V8 signal why not from the PCM? Now I dont have a wiring diagram for a 94' LT1 but I do for a 95' and 93'. For a 95' I would say run it off the "A13" which is the Red connector on the PCM. This is labeled as the "TACH output wire" Guy
  24. We've got customers like that at the Dodge dealership I work at. I just did a 1000 mile reinspection on a 05' Magnum R/T(HEMI Powered! )....the owner of this new 05' Magnum also just bought a 05' SRT-10 Ram. Yeah he's coming in for a 1000 mile reinspection on that on Friday. Then its going down to Henessy for the Venom 800 "upgrade" kit(yeah I guess a twin turbo V10 800HP motor would be an upgrade! ) and its getting lowered! Yeah so this guy isnt really hurting for money! Then we've got another guy who's dad owns a big construction company and he was in about 2 months ago looking at a Viper. Yeah he didnt earn a dime of that money but apperently daddy doesnt care if he spends it! God I wish I was rich............ Guy
  25. I have only seen(in person) one remote oil filter set up and they had the dual filters mounted on top of the passenger side fender. It was on a 98' Ram 1500 5.2 Liter V8. The guy was running Amsoil too! Kinda seemed over the top for a basic Ram 1500 but hey its not my money hes "wasting"! Guy
