  1. Well in my "professional" opinion I would say your going to be fine. Most guys I know don't even use an angle meter when using torque to yeild bolts. 20* isn't a whole lot when you look at it while tightening those bolts down. I don't know what you used but if it was me I would say your fine. I wouldn't worry about the bolt strenght, most torque to yeild bolts only have to be replaced if they actually stretch/deform. Some manufactures say to relace them after every use and some say to replace them only if they are stretched/deformed a certain amount. Is the engine in the car or on a stand? If it's not in the car pull the head back of and replace the head gasket and bolts if your worried about it.....nows the time to do it. Guy
  2. Doesn't get much worse than this. I can't even imagine how you must feel. I hate hearing about childern passing away. I feel like they've been short changed on life. I hope you and your family can get through this and remember the good times. Guy
  3. I think it looks great! I can't believe how much negative feedback your getting. I thought this was hybridz not zcar? One question though....why the tire sizes? They are way too small for 9" and 9.5" rims. I was running 265's on my 9.5" rims and that's even a touch too small. I am now running 275's which actually fit the wheels better but they rub now.
  4. Sorry I didn't see that you requested some more pics. I sse if I can find them..... Guy
  5. Looks good! Bi-Xenon is the only way to go. When i did mine I painted the inside of the lights black. I like the way they turned out and you get less glare I think. Guy
  6. We don't even rebuild that tranny. If the syncros take a dump on one of the gears it gets a whole new tranny. The guys who do rebuild them say they are a nightmare, lots of parts that can be put in wrong and look like they are in right. The instructors at the Nissan training center don't even recommend opening up one of these trannys because unless you absolutly know what you are doing you will screw it up and you will not make flat rate on them! LOL Guy
  7. The VQ35 is a great motor but not in stock form. It needs upgraded rods and pistons past 400RWHP. That's about the safe limit and even then you are on borrowed time. The tranny's aren't great but they are better now, they have been revised a few times and most of the issues have been fixed. You are pretty safe if you have an 05+ tranny. The ones before that have been upgraded to the newer tranny if you have had to have yours replaced. I love the sound of a boosted 350Z! It just sounds mean and fast! Of course after seeing that 350Z with the GTO motor, it would be hard not to like that too! Guy
  8. My buddy drives an 05' CTS-V.......what a pile of junk! Its a cool car to look at but GM obviously just threw togther a bunch of random parts they had laying around. Its in the shop again for what will be it's 3rd complete rearend. The V8 shares the same rear end as the V6 model and it shows! The hubs are 6 lug.....yeah try finding wheels for that, that don't cost an arm and a leg! It shares the same key and key fob as a Cavalier. The dash is cheap plastic. Everytime you shift it feels like the tranny is going to fall out. Oh and the navigation screen dings at you every 2 seconds for something...ding....seatbelt.....ding...traction loss......ding.....low tire......ding.....seatbelt........ding....traction control off.....ding! It's very annoying! I feel bad for the people who paid $60,000 for this car! "Lucky" my buddy "only" paid $27,000 for it used. Lets just say the car is for sale after only owning it for 6 months! Oh and when you take it in to the dealership they look at you like "why were you beating on this car"......"it's obviously abuse...". Hmmmm GM puts a 400HP engine in sport sedan, what did they thing you we're going to do in it? Guy
  9. Just saw it tonight also and I must say it was a GREAT movie! I can't wait for the next one! Guy
  10. Yes, thanks, and nope! LOL I get comments everywhere I go about how nice my car is. I know that guy in the Z06 probably doesn't. It's a sweet car but its new and looks like every other C6 unless you know the differences. Sometimes I think how nice it would be to have a new car with the same performace level but then I think "it just wouldn't be the same driving a car that any Joe Schmo could put together" Nobody asks about a supercharger kit on a GTO and how they got it to fit! LOL(not that I would buy a "GTO" Guy PS....yeah its a big file, I loaded it up right from my camcorder. I should try to figure out how to compress it.
  11. I'll be honest......it felt great! Although at the end of day he has a mid 12 second car with A/C and a warrenty! LOL I still get more attention at the track than that Z06 though! Now I just need to get the tire rubbing issue fixed, get some better 60' times, and dial in the nitrous! 11's here I come!
  12. Well I went to the track on Friday night with the hopes of getting into the 11's with the nitrous. I mounted up some new BFG Drag Radials, 275/35/18's but they rub hard on the inner fender. I am going to have to do something about this because I can not launch as hard as I want to. First I ran a motor run to get the feel of the track and new tires. Then I turned on the nitrous. I have been having an issue getting the nitrous to work but I think its user error. I have a window switch and a progressive controller and I think I had some settings messed up before. Well I put the window switch to turn on at 3000-5700 RPM's @ full throttle and put the progressive controller to 50% initial shot(about 70HP) to ramp up to 100%(about 140HP) after .2 seconds. The nitrous deffinetly worked for 3/4 of the track but at the end it seemed to load up some and stumble a little. Well this run just happend to be against a brand new C6 Z06! I was just praying that I had the nitrous turned on correctly and that I didn't miss a shift when we lined up! LOL I got the jump on him and felt the nitrous working and ended up winning by .212 seconds! I ran 12.319 @ 116.601mph and he ran a 12.531@114mph. 80LT1 Vs C6 Z06 video Oh and incase you were wondering why the track did not show our times, its because it was a "Real Street Drags" night. They try to make people who street race to come down an do it on the track. You can set up anyway you want to......give car lengths, delay starts, etc. They just have the win light on and the tree if you want it. Guy
  13. I[m not going but a guy from work is. He's a big car show guy even though he has nothing to show. Sounds like you might not get sunburned this year.......seems like every year I go I get toasted out in that field! Have fun!
  14. Nice job man! I have the bug too now! I just made my first trip to the track 2 weeks ago too! I can't get the timeslip database to load my slip though? It just goes to a blank screen when I click on the "load my data" link? How did you do yours? Guy
  15. Did you check your T/C rods yet? I had this same issue a few weeks back and that's what it was for me. Didn't see it until I looked at the suspension the second time. It didn't feel like one of the calipers wasn't working, it was a much much harder pull then that. It also wasn't as noticable under light braking. But under normal stoping it pulled to the left like a mo-fo! Guy
  16. Yeah I have all new poly bushings in the rear arms....what a treat that was! I didn't think there was anything avaliable for the subframe bushings or I would have put poly ones in there aswell. I need to get off my butt and slot the rear subframe. I drove the car up to some higher speeds tonight and if felt good. Just at lower speeds it seems to dart around. Is it possible that I have my steering gear set too tight causing my steering to be too responsive. I just remember there being a screw on the top of the gear box and I think I messed with it, don't really know what it does. I just know when I put new seals in it I think I had to take it appart so it might be out of adjustment cause I don't remember it being this "tight" of steering. I drove it last year like this too but never did an alignment. Guy
  17. Well I did my alignment today. I have about 0* camber, 7* caster, and 0*.25' toe(I don't know what if that is .25 degrees.... .25"? anyone know? That's how our alignment machine reads it?). Is 7* too much? Should I have toe in or out on my cars front end? I read that sticky John but Im still unsure? I am running 225/40/18's in front and 265/35/18's in the rear. I drove the car home but it feels "darty" like it it wants to follow every little line in the road. Could that be caused by the difference in tire sizes? The rear end had about -2.5* of camber on both sides and toe was at -0*.16' (LR) and 0*.05' (RR).
  18. I am looking to get some advice on some front wheel alignment specs for my 280ZX. I have adjustable tension rods so caster and toe are the only adjustable angles. I want the car to feel better at high speeds but still turn half way decent. I don't auto-x my car so I need a street set up but more towards stability at higher speeds. One of these days I'm going to make my rear adjustable so I can take some of the negative camber out and fine tune the toe but for now its only the front! Thanks guys! Guy
  19. It's a tC, what do you want! LOL All the DBW cars that I have driven have responsive throttle feelings. All of our Nissan's are now running it. I personally can't tell the difference between DBW cars and cable cars? Guy
  20. Yeah it's nitrous plus not medical grade. Man 56lbs for about $200($3.57/lb) isn't that great of a deal. I am paying $4.50 now to have it filled by someone else. It sure would take a while to make up the $600 for the fill station when I'm only saving $10 a tank. The convience sure would be nice though... Guy
  21. Can someone tell me how much actual useable nitrous is in one of the large tanks(the guy I talked to said it was a 200 cubic feet/inches(can't remember)). He said the tank was 9" in diameter and about 5' tall. I just want to know how many pounds of nitrous is in there so I can determine if I want to buy my own fill station and large cylinders to fill my 10lb bottle. Thanks! Guy:mrgreen:
  22. Ok I just found the best site I have come across for how to tune your LT1(probably very similar for LS1's too).... http://www.lt1pcmtuning.com/tips.php Guy
  23. This is not for steering or a Z31. I am still going to use the rubber/poly isolator like it was used in stock form. I don't know the diameter of the tubing but I'm sure it will be more than fine. It's not thin. I bought it from a speed shop on line that has them listed under chassi/suspension parts so I really doubt that any loads/forces that these see will hurt them. Guy
  24. What kind of headers are you running? I doubt this is it but I am going to throw it out there...I was reading an article in a snap on tech magizine yesterday and they were taliking about a rough running jeep. What it turned out to be is that who ever made the exhaust manifold didn't cut the hole for #4 cylinder to connect it to collector! Just food for thought... Guy
