  2. First time every to take my Z out in public this weekend, I get some lady asking if it's a 260z and telling me how she had one at one point, then got a 280z "As an upgrade", heh. Crazy.

  5. Berryman's B12 works about the same as Seafoam right? That's what I've been using.
  6. Lol that's what my dad said. Har har. I'll see if I can use it on the drive back today or tomorrow. It stayed in for awhile last time I drove it, it's just very finicky.
  7. Yeah I meant to mention that... The camera angle bugged me too. I didn't even know it was like that till I watched the video after the drive. I was by myself so I just had a tripod wedged at an angle behind the passenger seat. Next time I take a vid I'll try to get a better vantage point. I did this mainly for the sound. Yeah each time I drive the Z I fall in love with it more and more. It's turning into a bigger and bigger basket case, but each time I drive it I can't help but grin.

  9. Took the Z out for a 30 min drive to the nearest gas station to fill up. Fuel sender works, motor stays cool, all is well (except for oil pressure of course). Tranny still grinds 1-3, got it to stay in 5th for a bit but it didn't like it. Based off this successful test run, I'm going to try to bring the Z home either today or tomorrow depending on if the weather cooperates.
  10. Ok well after today I'm thinking I may try to steal Dan Monday or Tuesday to bring the Z up to fayetteville. I'll be leaving to stay in Fort Smith 2 weeks on Wednesday, but I won't have time to work on it there, so I might as well bring it home. I got the hood and fenders mostly bolted on, and actually got the air dam bolted on too. Nothing lines up very well unfortunately, seems like there will be some work needed likely due to some sort of accident at some point. Got the new air box installed and changed out to some new NKG spark plugs, then took it for a drive to the nearest gas station. My fuel sender appears to be working, have 1/2 a tank now, after a cumulative 30 min drive. Had a blast getting to drive it that long! I took a vid, so you can expect that once I get back on broadband. The tranny grinds decellerating in 1st-3rd, but 4th is fine. 5th is touchy, I did get it to stay in and accelerate once though, so we'll see. I think i'll have to tear it apart at some point to diagnose the problem. I just need to install my new speedo pinion, and get a speedo cable, and it'll be DD worthy! Then onto little things like a suspension refresh/upgrade, fix the dash backlight and running lights, 240z bumper and tail light swap, etc.
  11. Alright well I took it for a 30+ minute drive today (which was awesome!). It grinds decelerating in 1st 2nd and 3rd, 4th is fine, and 5th is still touchy. I got it to stay in while accelerating, but it only dropped about 500rpms from what it was in 4th (about 2500 to 2000).
  12. *bump* I bought a 240sx quick release hub for $16 on ebay, so we'll see if that works.
  13. I bought a NRG short hub from a member here, and it ended up being the wrong size. Pretty sure it's a mis-fit when the threads won't even pass through the hole in the hub. So now I'm trying to figure out what it fits to, and what I need to get. Are the S30 steering shafts the same as on a 240sx? There is a MUCH larger selection for S13/S14's. I can't afford the MOMO etc branded ones (only threads I've seen on this topic refer to them). I don't know how to go about finding what car the one I have fits and trying to sell it. The hole appears to be apprx. 16mm in diameter to the outside of the splines.

  17. Hmm interesting... but would the grinding happen in all gears?
  18. Good to know. I don't believe there are any chunks. I tipped the tranny over and dumped all the fluid out the fill plug before taking off the front cover, and there were no shavings or anything. I suppose if I have it apart again I'll check the bottom plug if it's magnetized. Interesting information. I'll try to keep that in mind. Keeping my hand off the shifter could take some training, lol. I'll just have to try and take it easy I guess.

  20. Woah wait a minute, so you're saying that the combo switch doesn't control the brights? One click is dash lights, two clicks is lights, and pulling the turn signal actually controls the brights??? I'm an idiot if that's the case. I thought my low beams weren't working. Maybe it's my turn signal switch that's not letting me turn off the brights. Wow...
  21. Thanks, thats a start. The whole 5th gear thing sucks and is inconvenient, but I guess it gives me the opportunity to see about playing around with different gearing stuff. I've read some about using truck gearing etc... Anywho the main concern is the grinding for now. I don't have much choice, i'll probably end up trying to get it back here, but I wanted to get a few opinions too.
