  1. They definitely need to be gone over by a competent welder and have some gusseting added, but it is a decent start and could be made into a usable piece without too much effort.
  2. Enough chem stuff, how about some mechanics. There are 2 identical parts, one made from alloy steel, one from titanium. Which is stronger? On average, most steel alloys are significantly stronger than titanium, of course you can compare annealed mild steel to high grade heat treated Ti, but lets be reasonable here. This might be known around here, but a lot of people think otherwise.
  3. Your question is a little unclear, is Bell saying squish is good or bad? Personally, I'd unshroud the valves some and possibly run a reverse dome piston if I need the compression lower. I would not run a thick head gasket or sink the top of the piston down the cylinder.
  4. That's it, now I have to go work on the car.
  5. Dial indicator+ degree wheel....
  6. Starter could be going. I have a similar problem, sometimes it clicks(once per key turn) but doesn't turn over, generally I just keep trying and it starts fine once the starter decides to turn. Mine is a new starter.
  7. That missing liner is a bad thing, I think the head is probably junk.
  8. This site is mostly s30's, so not many have. I personally haven't, but I do remember hearing some advise to someone else to tune for stoich and retard the timing a bit.
  9. An arduino, about 3 lines of code total, and a transistor would do it. Could also use a 555 timer instead of the arduino, it'd be a bunch cheaper.
  10. You can fix most things electronic almost no matter what, pretty much unless you break it in half it's fixable.
  11. Get the car going first, worry about the TB after you have the turbo setup installed and running.
  12. I can't tell if that's a joke or not.... A friend of mine had an r6 and the rear tire had a huge flat spot in the middle and no wear at all on the sides.
  13. It's a motorcycle tire, if there's no wear on the sides the rider doesn't lean much.
  14. Why use an air to air intercooler on a drag car anyway when you could use an air to ice water cooler? Is that an air to air?
  15. Does it only have power when the pump is priming?
  16. Yup, it's the transistor that triggers the coil, known for being kinda fragile. Make sure the IGN led blinks on the stim.
  17. With a vb921? Make sure you didn't fry it, check it on the stim.
  18. How are you driving the coil?
  19. Dished pistons have a round recess in the middle, it starts about .25" from the bore.
  20. Was it faster? You're getting into places where adding advance might not add any more power. Remember, the point of ignition advance is to make the pressure peak occur at ~15 ATDC.
