ok for now this is how it stands apparently tony talked to BJhaines and he had some issues with slippage over certain levels of boost (13?) and had to ad a idler pulley .. i have a set up i can make work around the snout.. but ill first try this, next to that i get half my pressure from a turbo anyway. Dont mind the way it looks as this is my mock up engine, for the tension pulley i used a lathe to hollow out a alternator pulley and to turn down a OEM power steering pulley so it would fit inside, next to that the bracket had to be lowered about 5mm.. All in all im pretty content with my progress. though along the way i will prolly make changes IT seems to be feasible at least

wow what a a nice eurolooking car meaning swiss cheese.. what a dump!
-
look for ana isma gtu car ( paul newman in bob sharp etc tons around)
-
OK i know where .. but dave no longer sells them .. the problem is .. two took a dump after only 500 miles max due to spark plug failure .. So now i have a 1000 USD 4 banger sitting in my shop. All i need is two more 87 mm AZ pistons to fix it .. Who knows who supplied them .. has a set or has another option ? Apart from reboring and buy a complete new set .. as in that case ill go 89 mm anyhow.

Hmm intresting, I'm not planning on hijacking this thread but. Im building a supercharged turbo combo on my l28, basically you say using an injector in front of the SC wil help cool the charger? I can see why. However in my application it wil be routed trough a IC before hitting the plenum and ITB's would this still help? or bring other problems? basically it is more of tech question on the 7th injector good looking set up btw !!

HybridZ custom suspension design thread
frank280zx replied to e_racer1999's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
that is awful thin metal to hang such a crucial part of your suspension from !! i would defiantly reinforce that -
wow that thing has some roll US suspension are really .. well like jelly!
-
Haha that is my set now and in my garage mowahaha.. you need to run HUGE wheels though
-
no it is not it is some japanese market model, i have seen it more often on fairladies, might be aritaspeed ( spelling)

OK let me clear this first of all the ZX has an integrated 'zg flare' so mounting the flares gives minimal extra clearance.. however in order to make the whole concept behind flares work .. you sould cut and weld .. In my opinion just bolting/sticking em on looks stupid as you can see it.. and you cant fill em out that way as it would rub the factory lip that the flare sis there to replace in teh first place. On a s30 you need to bend and tweak those MSA ones a bit as on an s130 ..( the arch radius is bigger than the wheel wells of both cars, it causes them to get a bit wider so to speak) I tried the same set on both cars together with Tony D and sal at MSA.. Apart from a visual thing it would give you much on a zx ... however the fit with minor trimming and adapting..

is that brains car that comes after you ( 1 fast z) btw i like the paintscheme on yours! -
only the fronts 8.5 J the rears run 10's i have to make some pics here
-
hmm wel order some 20 J wheels to go as the stock rear fenders accept my 10 j'S
-
yes they do i tested them with sal at msa

The answer is yes, i posted an article about it in teh archives as i did it it is a direct swap you need to run the z31 cv's though. Good part is that apart from the hubs being a direct swap, so are the bearings, brake disk ( 88 vented) and calipers!! Get this NO fabbing!! Note that because the Z31 stub axle is tapered, use the Z31 distance piece (bearing spacer) as the Z31 “B” spacer is the same length (55.95mm) as the ZX “M” spacer. If your 280ZX rear lower control arm housing needs the “N” length spacer (55.85mm) use the corresponding Z31 “A” spacer and if you require the “P” length spacer (56.05mm) use the corresponding Z31 “C” spacer. This opens up a lot of possibilities for 280ZX applications as the Z31 stub axle came in three different varieties: a four-lug hub, a five-lug hub and a five-lug hub that used a vented rotor (which has a thicker wheel mounting flange). Utilizing either the turbo or the non-turbo Z31 companion flange you can use either the ZX CV axles (3 bearing joint) or the stronger Z31 turbo CV axles (with the 5 bearing joint). Strange but I noticed that the diameter of the ZX stub axle is actually smaller (30mm vs. 32mm) than the first generation 1970-78 Z cars. The Z31 stub axle starts out at a 30mm diameter but then it tapers out to a diameter of 35mm where the wheel flange is. Nice upgrade. The axles of a z31 fit with no mods, It has the z31 hubs and vented brakes As you can see the sub frame is mostly re-assembled, it has poly bushing and solids in the sub frame mounts, it has been seam welded. The trailing arms have been seam welded aswel. The diff is a 3.3 cooled euro turbo diff , running an OBX hlsd( pump is not on this picture but i will update when i mount this on the car) The rims ill be running will be 17"s 10J the clearance is minimal but enough, measuring on the car does not show problems at this point ( you need to run a brake line from a zx the z31 is to short to reach the hard line) For the front use of a z31 strut you need to extend the arms by 25mm ( or however much you feel suited) i also run adjustable bushing upfront so i can adjust from 20mm to 30 mm and adjust some of the cars roll center. Next to that i use 30mm bumb steer spacers These are two strengthened and seam welded front control arms, we measured that they needed a 25 MM extension for my 8,5 to fall within the fenders What i did is lengthen my 'control' arm with 30MM this is enough to get camber control without your car camber plates being maxed out to either side. or other camber issues! it also set the stance a bit wider.. not a bad thing when body roll comes to play. with a stock arm you do not get enough camber. Given if i would put allot of miles on her i would go for 25MM.

im also going with an m62.. my m90 is bigger

Actually i really do not believe all this.. i have a 280zxr (40 somewhat k miles) and believe me since im extensively modifying it ( haha no purist to flame me here) The engine does not seem anything diffrent, and the soundproofing is all there where it normally sits aswel ( assuming you mean the floorboards etc).. As a mattar of fact the rear wiper washer tube runs back there. Given it does not have the wiper hole in the back.. but i think some basemodel fairlady doesnt have that either so hence the cover and hatch being diffrent. It is just the first BLING rice car ever made with factory decall and big wing!! However i would buy into a group buy to reproduce those decalls! Sorry to be so sceptic.. the only thing special is the wing .. nothing more in my opinion.

Either take jeffers offer or go to a junkyard they arent that hard to find, also ebay has them.. but note the prizes sometimes are out of control over there .. If you want new call nissan they might still stock them.

Wheel Show! Post your pics of you wheels
frank280zx replied to k3werra's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
those are apliance too.. i have the same -
Not to shabby!!!! it runs .. and indeed respect for keeping your foot up... cant wait to see it at next years msa!! BTW a moon landing .. in that case there is a pushcar behind him
-
i dont want to shatter your dream.. but budget and swaps dont combine .. depending on what you call tight .. but an avarange swap done right will set you back at least 2k. I would try to buy a zxt that is rusted out and swap the l28et and wire harnes that i can see being done at 600 orso if you find a cheap parter.. if not ...
-
yes keep the rear crossmeber you need the hubs brakes calipers etc ... keep the front struts and brakes .. they are fairly easely adaptable in my book .. though you need to mod your front lca to get the camber issues right

4 piston caliper brakets for a Z31
frank280zx replied to triple B's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
z32's wil bolt on to any z31 the just need a small thin spacer if used on earlier struts like i use.. and on a early 79 s130 the wieght difference makes them very good ( given you use good pads like the portefield r4's orso)
