  1. Well me and Xander have jumped the OBX bandwagon aswel .. here is my diff Her is my helical madness. As stated before you do not only get the diff but apparently the factory gets rid of there grind waste in the carrier . Funny thing is that my diff had no holes on one side of smaller gears while Xanders had holes on both side.. I guess Xander got lucky on the weight savings there! Apart from that the OBX factory is not to keen on cleaning there casting molds, as you can see imprints of all sort of 'foreign' parts in the casting, it does not look to bad. Also the skirt of the unit has some broken off edges because the bolts are close to the edge and the casting inst great. Sadly i don't have a before picture .. however i just ground the edges round making sure no casting parts will come loose there The metal used i pretty hard though as numbering some castings was harder than it is on other metal i use my number kit for. I will use a 3.3 gearing with diff cooler to compensate the heat that comes with these units( stock on euro turbo's). As far as wheel lifting ... well a z should not lift or better, none rear wheel drive car should lift a traction wheel in my book! Unlike the powerbrute fitments does not seem an issue sofar, however that leads me to a question. how do you remove the bearings of the original unit ? as you can see in the right side of the picture? I can apply gentle force like.. but im hoping for some tips here. ( edit bearing puller!!) So lets see who will have the first one to explode.... I have faith in it sofar however nothing like road testing i guess So all in all im still happy (however old gear oil stinks!!)I dropped in the washers ))(())(( however i did not use a pin, they seem to line up fine. We went this way so you have two of the stock washers ( witch are crap) backing each other up . piece of mind and enough preload i think. if not after some runs it will have to come out agian
  2. the JJ is width and actually indicates theTire Size http://www.carbibles.com/tyre_bible.html
  3. Well a friend of mine has a works rallycar that has been butchered by adding a gnose ( sorry on a rally car it is) anyhow it seems a factory one. some of the Monte Carlo cars came to halland and where transformed into track cars, it seem adding the nose was the beginning of this project.. The have a very nifty feature for condesation! there are two hose running from the heater to the front of the bucket this way defogging the lens .. not a bad idea .. however i have not seen it put to the test . .
  4. hmm so what would you advise me. as i only have small window for pick up
  5. John how long for a hood to be ready ? so im ready for MSA .. i cant order now as a paid for the ticket over there an OBX and stupid xmas this month haha
  6. Hmm Well hood pins are also for fast removal .. at leas in my case .. and i dont really trust the what seems flimsy way the locking ones work. Im sure they do.. but piece of mind at 200+khm is something to think about! However those that Davy posted !! WOW !! me like!
  7. The rear window will do a good amount as all of you know who handled a hatch with, and without glass know .. it weighs in! Remind to use two alu strips to hold it in place!. the side windows would help aswel as do the fronts.. problem with the fronts is their pillar less i still have to see s et up that i like and still has some rigidity and does not get sucked out at high speeds ( only a window net would be unacceptable for me ) Apart from that weight can be safed in the bumpers as mentioned .. the euro bumpers only weigh a little over 1/4th of a US spec bumber ( with supports that is). Next to that CF hatch. Hood, and doors ( available in japan, and the hoods from Beta motorsport aswel !) And naturally replacing the seats .. i used Sparco race buckets .. but given they are not the most comfy seats.. and! need to go with the general look you want to create if that is an issue. You can loose all the comfort features as mentioned before .. however you have to know what you want to use it for .. full track? or weekend warrior? I decided to keep interior, however i will remove the rear hatch glass for lexan. but well i just crank up boost a bit .. or built a car with no interior at all! On the other hand the ZX is not that heavy to start with.. it weighs less then a fully loaded 280 in most cases! .. ( ok now ill go and hide )
  8. haha he at least they people that invented to drink had a hybrid spirit of thinking outside the box !
  9. wonder what the beta cowl hood will do, as some people say it sucks other say it doesn't ( suck air i mean) i modified one for a zx ! so that would be nice .. what does a 4" cowl do ??? ooh well i just donated to see what comes out .. and learn something .. the read even has been worth every penny!
  10. why not use a Mercedes 300TD engine.. they are more widely available and have 'some' go
  11. Good info !! Me and Xander also gave up qaife so lets see what it brings !
  12. well if you want a good fit and not to much flapping go to beta motorsports ... or msa
  13. they are OEM in europe .. and we mainly got 2+2's i think i still have one ..not in the best condition ( needs some prepping and paint .. im willing to trade for a coupe one ( used naturally)
  14. then buy a v8 and twin turbo it.. the newmancar that had a tubular frame had president v8 ( nissan car) so if you want to go more modern a titan engine with twin charger would help you. however they got over 700 from an L but how durable where they
  15. OTM no i want to drive it like the conventional ones .. basically i want exactly the same as mario.. So no need for a new tread if it is up to me. My air filter will only consist of a turbo and some extra piping. The picture looks awkward but it is gear driven on the delta s4 i think .. but back on topic. So Mario correct me if i am wrong .. you want to see sc set ups right ? if you like a new thread let me know .. but i think we want the same info .. i want to see them aswel and love 280zedx his set up .
  16. how much do these run? they are at round 450 now but then shipping .. any ideas ?
  17. ooh and how did you hook up the bypass and all ..any pictures would help tremendously!
  18. yes you could help. Do you have more pictures as i still ' plan' (mad idea in my head) on twin charging .. this will be the only way ! How did you fab up the tank you seem to have the same SC ( Pontiac one) .. do you have sound clip s? Just when i figured i did not want to twin charge I LOVE IT !! It seems feasible again So more pics would be helpful .. i only have to feed the turbo into SC .. Sorry for the semi hijack mario!! but i bet you love some pics aswel !
  19. haha i dont have any.. but im sure they will be on line soon enough It has the panels cut out to accept the cage .. but the cuts are pretty fluent so not really cuts . it is really interesting to see a real works car with your own eyes once .. so many little things different .. i cant even begin to sum em up
